Overview of HANNIBAL Franco-Italian traffic management project involving the demonstration of telematics applications Objectives included: Provision of a homogenous level of user information along the Paris - Lyon - Milan - Trieste corridor To demonstrate cross-border information exchange using DATEX-Net HANNIBAL: TTCM8 Results Presentation, 9th March 1998 - Slide 2

Conclusions (User Surveys) Where there were incidents, 47% of users were informed about them (rising to over 50% on the French side of Mont-Blanc and the Italian side of Fréjus) Overall response to the project was favourable, with a majority of comments being positive on the French side of Mont- Blanc and both sides of Fréjus HANNIBAL: TTCM8 Results Presentation, 9th March 1998 - Slide 23

Conclusions (Other Aspects) Data Exchange: in operation (first time there has been cross-border data exchange using DATEX-Net) continuing beyond the demonstration period Surveys of Operators and Traffic Managers: initial analysis has shown a positive response, i.e. the system is generally felt to be relevant, works well in practice, improves information provision and has led to closer co-operation between motorway companies HANNIBAL: TTCM8 Results Presentation, 9th March 1998 - Slide 24
