Visit Mission (Basilica) San Diego de Alcalá known as the Mother of the Alta California Missions (Mass requested here). Learn the history leading up to this challenging undertaking and see a re-creation of the cloister of Blessed Junipero Serra, OFM STD. Enjoy a Panoramic City Tour of San Diego and take pleasure in an evening meal at one of the area restaurants before returning to the Hotel for our final night in picturesque San Diego. (B) Day 3: Wednesday, June 26 th : Travel to Ventura. Travel to Santa the Barbara area for a 2-night stay. On the way visit Mission San Luis Rey de Francia. After breakfast we visit Mission San Buenaventura (St. Bonaventure), Mission Santa Barbara, Queen of the Missions, Mission Santa Ynés (St. Agnes of Rome), and Mission Purísima Concepción (Immaculate Conception Mass requested here) all on the beautiful Pacific Coast 2 hours north of Los Angeles. Following dinner (on your own) we retire for our final night in Santa Barbara. (B) Day 5: Friday, June 28 th : Mid-California. We leave Santa Barbara for the spectacular drive to Carmel/Monterey. Along the way we stop at 4 of the 21 Missions in Alta California. Mission San Luis Obispo named for the 14 th century Bishop of Toulouse, France (very close to Lourdes) where a process for making tiles locally was developed to avoid fires from the typical thatched roofs of the time; Mission San Miguel Arcángel, the halfway point between Los Angeles and San Francisco; Mission San Antonio de Padua, the 3 rd Mission to be established; and the beautiful setting surrounding the Mission Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, truly underscoring the beauty of the river valleys along the rolling California countryside. Begin the day in famous Carmel by the Sea known for its natural scenery and rich artistic history. Visit Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo where Blessed Junipero Serra is buried beneath the sanctuary of the mission church (Mass requested here). See the memorial sarcophagus of Blessed Junipero with 3 of his fellow missionaries. We then proceed to our visit of the Mission of Music, Mission San Juan Bautista. Here the only remaining original Spanish Plaza is surrounded by 30 buildings including the original adobe manjerio (nunnery). A brief visit to Mission Santa Cruz, alongside the San Lorenzo River, and a drive by Cannery Row in Monterey caps off this day before returning to enjoy dinner on your own at one of the quaint local restaurants. We then return to the hotel for our final night in Monterey. (B) Day 8: Monday, July 1 st (Feast Day of Blessed Junipero Serra): Sonoma Wine Region and Marin County area. Start the day by crossing the famous Golden Gate Bridge for a short visit to Mission San Rafael. Afterwards, visit to the 21 st and last of the established California Missions, Mission San Francisco Solano (Mass requested here), nestled in the wine country 40 miles north of San Francisco, across from the site of the Bear Flag revolt of 1846 declaring California a republic. While in the area we visit a winery in Sonoma. Return to San Francisco for our farewell dinner later that evening. (B,D) Day 7: Sunday, June 30 th : Santa Clara to San Francisco. After check-out we travel to Santa Clara where we find ourselves in the middle of the Santa Clara University campus where we visit Mission Santa Clara de Asís (Mass requested here). Next, we make our way to three more missions: Mission San Jose, an active Church (Parish of St. Joseph), Mission San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores) - In the middle of a busy city - Home to The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine; and Mission San Rafael Arcángel which began as an offsite hospital to Mission San Francisco de Asís. Following a panoramic drive of the unforgettable city by the bay, we arrive at our hotel for our first night in San Francisco. Dinner on your own. (B) Day 9: Tuesday, July 2 nd : San Francisco. (d.b.a = doing business as Mater Dei Tours and Relevant Journeys) is acting as an independent intermediary (travel agent) between you and suppliers of goods and services, which are not directly supplied by Landa Cleary Travel Co., Inc., such as air transportation, hotel accommodations, ground and sea transportations, tours, tour guides, escorts, etc. and shall not be responsible for actions or omissions on the part of such suppliers, which may result in any loss, damage, delay or injury to you or your travel companions or group members. Landa Cleary Travel Company, Inc. and any religious or private organization contracting it s services shall not be responsible for any injuries, damages or losses caused to any traveler in connection with social or labor unrest, mechanical or construction difficulties, diseases, local laws, climatic conditions, war, terrorist activities or any other actions omissions, or conditions outside their control. By embarking upon his/her travel, the traveler(s) voluntarily assumes all the risks, and is advised to obtain appropriate insurance coverage against them. Your booking shall constitute a consent to the above and engaging the company, acknowledges these conditions and agrees to hold the company blameless in making the arrangements of his/her behalf, and agrees that restitution or damages, if any are claimed, shall be sought directly from the suppliers. Deposits: A deposit of $500 per person is required to secure your space to Landa Cleary Travel Company, Inc. Deposits will be refunded in the event the tour does not meet the minimum quorum necessary to make the trip possible. If you use a credit card as payment, you agree that if any cancellation penalties are due, Landa Cleary Travel Co., Inc. is authorized to charge the penalties to your credit card above. Final Payments: Full payment must be made no later than 100 days prior to departure unless otherwise stated. Payments may be made by check, Visa or MasterCard. If payment is not received as scheduled, your reservation may be automatically canceled and your deposit payment becomes forfeit. If you use a credit card as payment, for your convenience, you may opt to have Landa Cleary Travel Co., Inc. charge your balance to the same authorized credit card on the registration form by simply calling us with your verbal authorization. Tour Membership: To ensure a positive experience, the Landa Cleary Travel Co., Inc. reserves the right to reject any client whose conduct is incompatible with the interest of the group. Coaches are typically not equipped with wheelchair accessible ramps, therefore all tour members must be able to mount 3 to 5 steps into the coach. Participants should expect to walk between 1 and 3 miles in one day. Walking surfaces may at times be uneven. Landa Cleary Travel Co., Inc. is not responsible for denial of service by any suppliers. Young Travelers: Travelers who are less than 18 years old on the departure date must be accompanied by an adult and must share the adult's accommodations. If a child will be traveling with adults other than the parents or with only one parent, it is highly recommended that a notarized letter be written by the parents or non-traveling parent granting authorization to travel, including the dates of travel. Voluntary changes to itinerary: Independent voluntary changes to an individual passenger s itinerary are usually not permitted by most of our tour suppliers. Some exceptions may be granted in a case-by-case basis. If passenger purchased a land only package, they are free to plan their own itinerary before or after the trip (read Land Only bookings for restrictions). All change requests must be made prior to 45 days before departure. Not Included: All items of a personal nature (room service, beverages, telephone charges, laundry, etc) and meals not specified on the tour itinerary are not included and must be paid by the passenger. Accommodations and Itinerary: Land arrangements are provided as described in the tour program. The tour company reserves the right to change or substitute (1) hotels for accommodations in similar categories (2) or features of the itinerary in order to accommodate changes in the schedule. Meals: Meals are provided as specified in the tour program. If you require special meals due to dietary restrictions, we must receive written details of your requirements at the time of booking. We cannot guarantee your requested diet but every effort will be made to accommodate these requests. Passports: If this coach pilgrimage requires a Passport, then the obtaining of a passport is the sole responsibility of the passenger. Passports must be current and valid beyond the dates of travel. If this pilgrimage requires an international airline ticket, then your ticket name must match your passport name or you may be denied boarding the airplane. Passengers who are denied boarding due to discrepancies between ticket and passport names or because of expired passports accept full responsibility and are subject to the cancellation terms of the tour. Some countries such as Israel require that your passport expiration be 6 months beyond your travel dates.
