POLAND 100 th Anniversary of the Polish Air Force Airshow, Air Force Museum, Deblin & the Polish Aviation Museum, Krakow PROVISIONAL ITINERARY & GENERAL INFORMATION Friday, 24 th Tuesday, 28 th August, 2018 Polish Air Force airshows are always popular with European enthusiasts as the organisers have a very good reputation for attracting a wide range of participants from other armed forces. As this is their 100 th anniversary the word is already out that this will be a very large show with aircraft attending from many countries. Our itinerary includes: 2 full days at the airshow Deblin: Polish Air Force Museum Krakow: the huge collection in the national Polish Aviation Museum We fly on the scheduled services of British Airways from Terminal 3 at London s Heathrow Airport; travel in-country by chartered coach (see appropriate paragraph in General Information page 4) and rail; stay in comfortable hotels in the Radom area and Krakow on a bed and breakfast basis; and are accompanied throughout by one of our well-travelled and experienced Aviation Tour Managers. We expect this tour to be very popular for 2 reasons: it s the 100 th Anniversary of the Polish Air Force and, the tour takes place over the UK s August Bank Holiday weekend. So, as demand for seats on the flights will be high, we recommend you book early to avoid disappointment! With an early departure from Heathrow Airport and a late arrival back, why not ease the stress and strain and stay at an airport hotel for the Thursday and/or Tuesday nights: contact us for rates. PROVISIONAL ITINERARY (all times local) DAY 1: FRIDAY, 24 th AUGUST Between 05:00 and 06:00 please meet your Ian Allan Tour Manager, and fellow enthusiasts, at the British Airways check-in area in Terminal 3 at London s Heathrow Airport. Latest recommended check-in time is 2 hours before the flight departs, so 05:25. Heathrow Airport, Terminal 3 Flight: BA 846 Departs: 07:25 Warsaw Arrives: 10:50 After the usual arrival formalities we meet our driver, board our chartered coach and drive south to Deblin to visit the excellent collection of aircraft in the Polish Air Force Museum. As well as exhibits inside there is also an outdoor exhibition of more than 80 aircraft, helicopters and other types of technical equipment, including missiles and radars. Website: http://muzeumsp.pl/ (use Google translator for English version). Arriving in Radom we stay 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis at the Gromada Radom Centrum Hotel; rooms are en-suite. Wi-fi is available; and there is a restaurant and bar on-site with other options in the city centre. We are only 8 miles from Radom airbase, venue of the airshow. DAYS 2 & 3: SATURDAY, 25 th & SUNDAY, 26 th AUGUST Both mornings, at 07:30, we leave the hotel for a full day at the 100 th Anniversary of the Polish Air Force Airshow on Radom Airbase. Pictured left is one of the participants at the 2017 Radom Airshow: an immaculate looking MiG-21 Lancer of the Romanian Air Force. DAY 4: MONDAY, 27 th AUGUST This morning we take a leisurely drive south to Krakow arriving in the early afternoon. We stay overnight at the Vienna House Easy Chopin Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Rooms are en-suite with satellite TV and the hotel s facilities include free wi-fi, a restaurant serving Polish and international dishes and a bar. The Old Town with its medieval market square is just a short walk away. Website: www.viennahouse.com/en/easy-cracow/the-hotel/overview.html The rest of the day is free to enjoy time at leisure in the city. DAY 5: TUESDAY, 28 th AUGUST At 09:30 we leave our hotel and drive the 5 miles to the Polish Aviation Museum and its huge collection of aircraft (pictured right). Located on the site of the no-longer operational Krakow Rakowice Czyżyny Airport, the airfield, established by Austria-Hungary in 1912, is one of the oldest in the world. The collection consists of over 200 aircraft, both outside and inside various buildings, including several that are unique, including sailplanes and some 100 aircraft engines. The Museum has 22 extremely rare aircraft that once were part of the personal collection of Hermann Göring, which before World War II, were displayed in Deutsche Luftfahrtsammlung Museum in Berlin! These planes were evacuated during the war to rescue them from Allied bombing (the Museum itself was destroyed in Allied air raids), and were found abandoned on Polish territory after the war ended. Like during our previous visits we hope to be shown those aircraft undergoing restoration and in storage. Mid-afternoon we return to the city centre and enjoy a couple of hours relaxing in the old medieval area. Alternatively you can transfer to the airport at a time of your choosing (at your own expense). We arrive at Krakow Airport and check-in for our British Airway s flight back to London: latest recommended check-in time by the airline is 19:15. Warsaw Flight: BA 873 Departs: 21:15 Heathrow Airport, Terminal 3 Arrives: 22:45 Awaiting our luggage in Baggage Reclaim, we bid each other farewell until we meet again! Option: stay overnight in an airport hotel contact us for details of special offers. Tour 227825 Poland 100 th Anniversary of the Polish Air Force Airshow Provisional Itinerary Issue 1 Page 2 of 6

GENERAL INFORMATION Payment for A deposit of 400.00 per person should accompany your Booking Form, with the balance due 10 weeks prior to the tour s departure. Please see your Booking Confirmation/Invoice for the exact date. Please note that a reminder of the payment date will not be sent. Passports and Visas Citizens of the UK are required to be in possession of a Full UK Passport, which must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of your return. You may also refer to the World Travel Guide website: www.wtgonline.com for general information on passports, visas and health requirements. British passport holders do not require a visa to enter Poland. Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) Consular Advice The FCO's consular service is a major operation. Every hour of every day consular staff around the world are advising and helping British nationals. For up-to-date passport, visa and security information on the destination you intend visiting, we suggest you visit: www.fco.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo In addition, the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) provide an Information Line for UK callers only, telephone: 020 3117 0599. This line is open between the hours 10:00 16:00, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays). Coach Travel only use coaches chartered from reputable companies, with a driver. Where we have had to cancel a tour, due to the small number of bookings, we have looked at the possibility of renting a 16-18 seater mini-van, with our tour manager driving. However, without exception, the hiring of such a vehicle is illegal if any of the occupants make any payment towards the rental price, fuel and/or other expenses - known as for hire or reward. Any such rental, made without these facts being made known to the rental company at the time of booking, also invalidates all insurance covering the vehicle, contents and persons. The DVLA has also confirmed that any for hire or reward rental could breach the normal driving classification of a standard U.K. driver s license. Therefore, we do not undertake any tours using 9-18 seater mini-vans from a rental company; either with our tour manager, or a member of the group, driving. Baggage Regulations British Airways Departing from London s Heathrow Airport Checked Baggage: Included in your air ticket is one piece of hold baggage with the maximum weight of 50lbs (23kgs) and external dimensions (length + width + height) of up to 62ins (158cms). Baggage Weight Restrictions UK Airports Since 1 st June 2004, any single piece of checked baggage weighing more than 70lbs (32kgs) has not been accepted at check-in by any airline operating from London s Heathrow Airport. The BAA may introduce this limit at their other airports in the UK (and so might non-baa airports), in an attempt to reduce manual handling injuries amongst airport staff. Please bear this in mind when packing your suitcase. Meals On this tour breakfast is included in the tour price. Health Requirements There are no known mandatory or recommended precautions for visiting Poland; however, we recommend you consult your local doctor or health centre for the latest information. We also suggest you check the 5-day weather forecast before you pack your suitcase! Local Currency The local currency is the Polish Zloty. Major credit cards are accepted, and ATMs are available. If you plan to take traveller s cheques we recommend they are in Euros and small denomination notes (10, 20 or 50) as you are more likely to be able to change these in the hotels. Airlines and/or airports can no longer provide this service without prior confirmation, therefore, please annotate your booking form accordingly. It will be the individual s responsibility to ensure that they re-join the group in the hotel at the stated time on the day of departure. Land Only Price For enthusiasts who would prefer to join the tour in Warsaw and leave it in Krakow (instead of flying from London s Heathrow Airport with the main group), we will be very pleased to provide a Land Only price. You are strongly advised to contact us before making your own flight arrangements in the event that there has been a change to the published itinerary. Flight Timings & Connecting Travel Arrangements to Departure Airport All flight departure and arrival times are correct at the time of preparing each itinerary; however, airlines may change these times with little or no prior warning. In practice such changes are only a few minutes either way and the final itinerary will show the actual times.
