Depart from Minneapolis Day 1 (in Germany) Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 Upon arrival in Munich, we will have a Bavarian breakfast or brunch at the airport s Airbräu brewpub. We ride to Berchtesgaden and there will be an OPTIONAL exploratory/orientation walk in Berchtesgaden s town center for those who don t need or want to recuperate from the flight and drive. Welcome Dinner at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten (Hotel 4 Seasons) Day 2 Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 Breakfast at hotel. Optional morning shopping in town. In the afternoon, we take a tour to the Eagle s Nest/Kehlsteinhaus mountain peak (with an optional lunch on your own at the mountaintop restaurant). Later we visit & sample Grassl Schnapps Distillery. Dinner at the hotel or another restaurant featuring regional Bavarian cuisine Day 3 Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014 Breakfast in the hotel. We depart for Salzburg where we will have a guided walk in the City Center. There will be time for shopping and exploring. Lunch on your own. We will continue to Augsburg, Germany s 3 rd oldest city and Bavaria s 3 rd largest, about 45 miles from Munich. We will be staying at Augsburg s Hotel Ost am Kö for the remaining nights of our trip. Dinner at a restaurant featuring local Bavarian-Swabian cuisine. Day 4 Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 Breakfast in hotel. We drive to Freising for 10 a.m. tour of Weihenstephaner-Brauerei, the world s oldest Brewery, dating back to 1040 and then lunch at the Bräustüberl. We continue with a sightseeing ride into Munich and afternoon tour of the Oktoberfest Museum. We end the day with a walk through the City Center and a light supper in one of Munich s popular beer halls. Day 5 Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 Breakfast in hotel. We have an 11 a.m. group seating-reservation at a brewery affiliated beer tent on the Oktoberfest grounds, with food, beer (or other beverage), & time to explore the grounds. There is time in the afternoon for shopping or strolling in the
Munich City Center. We ll have a light supper in Munich at another beer hall or specialty restaurant. Day 6 Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 (German National Unification holiday Einheitstag ) Breakfast in hotel. We make a visit to Andechs Benedictine Monastery & beer garden. Lunch is on your own at the selfservice beer garden. In the afternoon, a tour of Mad King Ludwig s Neuschwanstein Castle. Dinner in Füssen or Landsberg am Lech. Day 7 Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 Breakfast at Augsburg hotel. Since this is our last day and there is no out-of-town drive or tour planned, this day is free for you explore, shop or rest. Here are some suggestions of things to do: 1. Walking tour to the Rathaus (City Hall) & its Goldene Saal (Golden Room) 2. Fuggerei (world s oldest continuing social housing complex, since 1516) 3. Coach tour past city sights 4. Coffee and pastry at the Rathausplatz and/or visit to nearby brewpub 5. Lunch (on one s own) at the Ratskeller (open from 11:00 to 2:00) 6. Walk through the Stadtmarkt (open-air market) 7. Shopping 8. Opportunity to rest and pack Farewell Dinner of regional specialties at Zum Weissen Hasen restaurant Day 8 Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014 Breakfast at our Augsburg Hotel Ost am Kö. Depart for the Munich Airport & return to Minneapolis. Motor coach back to Eau Claire. GENERAL INFORMATION Tour cost: $3979 per person based on double occupancy Single Supplement: $245 Reservations: A deposit of $250.00 per person is required to secure a place on our tour. Insurance: We strongly suggest that you consider the purchase of travel insurance. Price of insurance is $236 per person and must be paid in full at time of deposit. Coverage includes trip cancellation for covered occurrences, medical, baggage, emergency evacuation and more. Preexisting medical conditions are covered per the terms of the contract. Please ask for details. Final Payment: Final payment is due by July 25, 2014. We will invoice you for the balance. Cancellation schedule: From December 2, 2013 to April 22, 2014 - $250 per person From April 22, 2014 to July 25, 2014 - $750 per person After July 25, 2014- No refund Smoking: We kindly request no smoking when and wherever the group is traveling together. Extending Your Stay: You may extend your stay in Europe at the end of our tour. Please ask for information. Important: You must possess a valid U.S. Passport.
