NOTTE BIANCA OPENING Venue: MCC Open Square Time: 18.30 to 19.30 The DUĦĦAN MIS-SOQFA project will mark the colourful and unique atmospheric opening of Notte Bianca s 10th edition. A number of brass bands and troupes will bring the streets of Valletta to life with marches from 19.00 onwards. The In Guardia Troupe, the Duke of Argyll s Own Pipe Band and the King s Own Band Club will accompany the opening. Her Excellency the President of Malta will be present to launch a great initiative. VIVA N-NOTTE BIANCA! Venue: Pjazza San Ġorġ Time: 19.00 to 00.00 To celebrate Notte Bianca s milestone 10th anniversary, a massive event is being held at Pjazza San Ġorġ. Mark Magro will be remixing Maltese classics whilst Pawlu Borg Bonaci and Carlo Borg Bonaci will be spinning their decks off the roof of the Attorney General s Office for everyone s enjoyment. Animated by Colin Fitz and JD Patrick, expect hourly surprises 21:00 onwards and loads of fun! FUQ! KARAOKE TA VERA Venue: Law Courts Time: 19.00 to 00.00 This is karaoke like you ve never experienced it before. Forget cheesy synthesiser playbacks, during KARAOKE TA VERA, Notte Bianca will offer you the once in a lifetime opportunity to sing your song of choice accompanied by live bands such as Mikaela, The Busker and Xarulu'. Choose your song, book your space and sing! ŻEGLEG Venue: Piano Steps ŻEGLEG is an inclusive Street Dance community project by Plethora Dance aimed at those with a limited opportunity to perform. Following a number of workshops for beginners, amateurs and enthusiasts, the participants, including entire families, are now ready to give the performance of a lifetime. ŻIFFAŻFIN Venue: All over Valletta Expect everything from Hip-Hop to Contemporary all over Valletta. Get ready for some very interactive Street Dance performances in flashmob style by Urban Echo, Patsy Chetcuti and Moveo Dance Company! #NOTTEBIANCA10 Venue: All over Valletta Live Programme and social media updates will be broadcast all over Notte Bianca. You can use our hashtag to tag your stories and photos. PINTA TEATRU Venue: Roaming Interactive street theatre all over Valletta. This will feature comical sketches by Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre and some very random conversations about the Great Siege. L-IKLA T-TAJBA Venue: Central Bank Area, St. James Bastions L-Ikla t-tajba, in collaboration with Valletta 2018, sees participants from different age groups on a culinary journey, supervised by head chef David Darmanin. The participants have been divided into teams, with each team having its own specialty. Original recipes utilising traditional Maltese ingredients were created in order to offer an appetizing menu of mouthwatering dishes which will be served on the night. MHUX FESTA, FIESTA! Venue: Lower Barrakka The Lower Barrakka will be transformed into a fiery, colourful Fiesta Flamenca! Fjakkoli will lead through this enchanting garden, filled with music, percussion, castanets and laughter. The entire area will be transformed into a showcase of delicacies from Andalucia - with Spanish Food and Drink and lots of Flamenco. Alegria Dance Company, all in colourful Trajes de Flamenca will lure you into a passionate mood for dance. From 8pm onwards, enjoy a flamenco performance every hour. Ole!!!

RING ROAD DRIFTING Venue: St. Elmo Granaries Time: 20.00, 21.30 and 23.15 Team Maximum Lock s engines are all revved up and ready to go! Get ready to be wowed by the team s professional stunts and impressed by the four-wheeled showmanship of Malta s Number 1 Drift Team. MERCHANTS OF VALLETTA Venue: from San Duminku to Market Square We promise you there won t be a dull moment. From magic to all sorts of wondrous performances, expect the unexpected all over the city thanks to the Merchants of Valletta. There will be also a surprise performance from two chickens coming all the way from Italy! KAMARATA PUPI Venue: Kamrata What do wild animals, robots and a giant have in common with clothes hung out to dry? What is this weird mix of sci-fi and realism? Perhaps you could ask the scientist or the artist. Maybe they ll explain, maybe they won't just hold onto your wits in the meantime as things are expected to get loud and colourful within a few short minutes. KAMRATA PUPI is a unique set of short performance sketches featuring hand made puppets by Sean Briffa. Christine Briffa Francalanza, Chris Briffa and Sarah Camilleri are also involved in collaboration with residents of the Kamrata itself. BUŻŻ KLASSIKU Venue: Teatru Manoel Time: 20.00 to 00.00 The culmination of a full week of workshops with various Maltese and international professional musicians, THE MALTA NATIONAL YOUTH ORCHESTRA under the direction of conductor Robert Hodge, Musical Director of Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra, will present a varied repertoire of Romantic, Operatic and 20th Century Music. Hosted by the Manoel Theatre, the programme will feature Verdi, Arnold, Delibes, Khachaturian and Gershwin. There will be a surprise dance in between! OPERA U GĦANA Venue: Mediterranean Conference Centre Time: 20.00 to 00.00 A collaborative project presenting a fusion of two very distinct musical genres. An event not be missed by music lovers. SCIENCE IN THE CITY Location: Upper Barraka Time: 19.30 to 00.00 Fire, experiments, and comets are coming to Notte Bianca at the Science in the City festival area at the Upper Barrakka. Come see the Rosetta satellite, 3D printed models, black holes, and meet Malta s own space scientists! Experience science shows with flaming tubes and reactions hot enough to melt car engines. There will also be loads of experiments to try out for yourself, come be a scientist for a night. KORIJIET TAL-MADALENA! Venue: Church of St. Magdalene Time: 19.30 to 00.00 Choirs will be gracing the newly restored late 16th century Church of St. Mary Magdalene with the sound of their precious voices. The programme will be performed by Simone Attard s Children s Choir, the Enkor Choir and the Joy Gospel Singers. BIEB IL-BOMBI Venue: Bieb il-bombi, Floriana Bieb il-bombi is an ornamental gate in the Floriana Lines, which formed the outer defensive walls of Valletta. Constructed in a Baroque style, the gates were completed in 1721. Once again

Notte Bianca is making it possible for patrons to visit the overpass of Bieb Il-Bombi. If you didn't make it last year, be sure that for the 10th anniversary of Notte Bianca Valletta you not to miss the opportunity to get a different perspective from atop these historical gates. LIGHT UP THE CITY Venue: Strait Street Mdina Glass, Malta s most renowned producers of handmade glassware, have covered a section of Strada Stretta in a kaleidoscopic light installation which will light up Strait Street in a way you ve never seen before. Experience a unique colourful magic when passing through Valletta s most notorious street. XATT IL-GĦANA Venue: Marsamxett Harbour Crossing with the Ferry? Having a drink at Marsamxett Harbour? You will be greeted and entertained by our traditional għanneja who will be singing traditional Maltese għana all night long to locals, tourists and ferry crew alike! VALLETTA FAVOURITES Venue: Various Time: 22.00 to 02.00 StrEat will be having an afterhours session till late night whilst The Bridge Bar will be jazzed up by top guitarist Marc Galea and his band. PJAZZA KASTILJA! Venue: Castille Square Time: 19.30 to 01.00 Four-te Quartet and The Hot Club of Valletta will be bringing the newly re-done Castille Square to life for a night of classic guitar music and gypsy jazz. Four-te Quartet led by Evan Plumpton will be playing a repertoire of classical guitar music from Baroque to Modern whilst the Hot Club of Valletta, spearheaded by George Curmi il-puse will be playing gypsy swing music from the 30s and 40s. VILLAĠĠ Venue: Central Bank Area, St. James Bastions Are you interested in martial arts? Or maybe volunteering for a good cause? Then head to St. James Bastion where once again this year Villagg will be hosted. Various entities and organisations will be exhibiting and promoting their services and causes. There will also be street bands to keep everyone jolly and duly entertained of course! BANDA BAVIERA! Venue: Auberge de Baviere Time: 19.00 to 00.00 Auberge de Bavière will feature Malta s National Bands! Tha National Army Band and the National Police Band will be sounding their brass from the beautiful courtyard of the auberge. Don t miss the falcons flying overhead with the beautiful Marsamxett Harbour in the background.

ATMOSFERA PROGRAMME Notte Bianca is the night where all of Valletta comes to life. From City Gate to the far end of the peninsula, every street, corner and square will be buzzing with exciting spectacle. A multitude of fringe events will be taking place alongside our programme, showcasing the variety Valletta has to offer. There is definitely something for everyone. So wander around, explore, and soak up the atmosphere. The Collegiate Church of St. Paul s Shipwreck St. Paul Street 18:00 23:00 The Church of St Paul's Shipwreck will be open to the public and Holy Mass will be celebrated. Holy Mass Open for visits Holy Mass for youths by Youth Fellowship celebrate the beauty of art with special emphasis on the diversity of the individual. Through their works, the MOSAICO artists intend to demonstrate the values of friendship, unity and, above all, peace between people and nations. China Cultural Centre Melita Street 19:00 00:00 For this year s Notta Bianca, the China Cultural Centre is hosting a comprehensive indoor exhibition featuring traditional works of art, including calligraphy, ink-wash painting, engraved lacquer ware and Chinese paper-cutting. The display continues outdoors as professionals demonstrate calligraphy writing, paper-cutting and walnut shell carving. A Chinese food fair and stall selling a variety of Chinese handicraft complements the activities. Palazzo de La Salle An Expression of Art Ecclesiastical Exhibition Domus Pauli Museum St. Paul Street 19:00 22:00 The Domus Pauli is a museum of ecclesiastical art, housed in a Baroque Palazzo that includes a sedan chair donated to the church by Grandmaster Perellos, furniture, silverware, textiles and books which have rarely been shown to the public. This is a unique chance to witness never-before-seen treasures of The Church of St Paul's Shipwreck. Multiplicity Multiples in the city Messina Palace (German-Maltese Circle) St. Christopher Street 18:00 00:00 The German-Maltese Circle opens its doors to the general public during Notte Bianca. Messina Palace, formerly Casa Rocca Grande, is a majestic 400-year old Palace that is definitely worth visiting. Messina Palace is hosting an exhibition with works of 14 Maltese artists that together make up MOSAICO. This exhibition intends to Malta Society of Arts, 219, Republic Street 19:00 00:00 The Malta Society of Arts will be opening the doors of its premises at Palazzo de La Salle for the following events: Artists at Work: Members of the Society will be working in their preferred medium, answering visitor s questions over a glass of wine. Art Exhibition: The MSA s Members Annual Art Exhibition Musicians: The Dutch Crazy Accordion Trio will be playing Klezmori music throughout the evening (19:00 and 22:00) and a piano recital in the Music Room by pianist Elaine Mercieca (21:00). Talk: Marika Azzopardi will be conducting a talk on the 19th Century Maltese Filigree Jewellery. (20.30) Traditional Crafts Exhibition: Filigree and Lace Exhibition by Kevin Attard & Carmen Ellul.

MEUSAC, as the national coordinator of the EYD2015, will utilize the façade of its premises as an interactive information display to raise awareness on the main messages related to the EYD2015. Form and Fire An exhibition of ceramic art raku works Malta Chamber of Commerce Republic Street 17:00 onwards The exhibition is being organized by The Malta Raku Association and will be pre-senting works by 17 of its members. Raku is a pottery technique originating from 16th century Japan and is used to produce Japanese pottery that is traditionally used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony, most often in the form of tea bowls. The exhibition will run from the 25th September to the 8th October 2015. National Library of Malta Old Treasury Street 19:00 00:00 The National Library of Malta is the national repository of information, holding precious historical archives and collections as well as architecturally being a cultural asset. The National Library holds a small number of significant collections, such as a small but interesting collection of 60 incunabula, the Melitensia collection comprising published material in the form of books, pamphlets, newspapers, journals as well as audio and visual recordings by Maltese authors on any subject relating to the Maltese Islands. The Archives of the Order of Malta are also among the holdings of the National Library with the earliest document dating back to 1107. Omerta Trattoria and Winebar 92, Old Bakery Street All Night Long Omerta Trattoria & Wine will be hosting the Fourth Fret as a 4-piece local band. The Malta Experience St. Elmo Bastions Mediterranean Street 19:00-00:00 Shows at the Malta Experience start every hour on the hour. After each show, a guided tour of the Sacra Infermeria at the Mediterranean Conference Centre follows. Combined ticket will be sold at only 3 per person for both activities. The Carmelite Church Old Theatre Street 19:00 00:00 The Carmelite Church is hosting an exhibition with a set of paintings in mixed media by artist Fabio Borg, depicting the Carmelite Church of Valletta. These paintings show the dome of the church, which is a landmark, from different perspectives and places. They also portray the beautiful surroundings of Valletta. Ministry for Foreign Affairs Palazzo Parisio Merchants Street The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is hosting two exhibitions. The first exhibition is Bulwarks of Fortitude by artist Janet Grech, which comprises of works of art depicting Maltese Fortifications. The second exhibition is Palazzo Parisio: a Palace in History, a photographic exhibition by Maltese-Australian photographer Martin Bonnici.

Guided tours of Palazzo Parisio will also be held on the hour. Last tour starts at 23:00. Art in Public Spaces Il-Loggia, National Museum of Fine Arts South Street The National Museum of Fine Arts is exhibiting shortlisted projects presented in response to the Art in Public Spaces Programme, which was launched by the Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure, with the support of the Ministry for Jus-tice, Culture and Local Government, Arts Council Malta and MUŻA (Heritage Malta). Projects have been presented in collaboration with Local Councils and communities. You re invited to choose your favourite project which may soon be part of your neighbourhood! Central Bank of Malta Castille Place 18:00 23:00 The Central Bank of Malta will exhibit various antique coins acquired recently for its Museum, with the main attraction being a special exhibition of rarely seen medals and coins bearing portraits of the Grand Masters of Malta. During the event, visitors can benefit from special discounts offered on some numismatic coins. Auberge de Castille Castille Place 19:00 02:00 A special exhibition is to be held at Auberge de Castille this year on the occasion of Notte Bianca. It will feature a number of busts of important personages that in some way or another had ties with our country in the period between the 17th and 20th centuries. These include busts that the public has never previously had the opportunity to see up close. The exhibition is a collaboration of the Office of the Prime Minister and Heritage Malta. As in previous years, the public may visit the main halls in Auberge de Castille, the Ambassadors Room, the Cabinet Room and the Prime Minister s personal office, where he works every day. Once again, the vaults beneath the Auberge de Castille are also open to the public. This year, two special publications are being issued, which will be distributed to the public visiting the Auberge de Castille on Notte Bianca. AFM 45th year anniversary Military Art Exhibition Sagrestia Vault Valletta Waterfront 16:30 22:00 As part of the 45th Anniversary celebrations of the Armed Forces of Malta, the Armed Forces of Malta, AFM is organising a Military Art Exhibition for the very first time. This unique exhibition is hosted at the Sagrestia Vault, Valletta Waterfront during the Notte Bianca. All exhibits are military related and artists are either AFM serving members or AFM ex-service members. Outdoor Giant Chess Set Valletta Waterfront Probably Malta s biggest, this chess set is located on the historic Valletta Waterfront with its 1752 buildings with the iconic coloured doors. Avoid the crowds, relax with a glass of whatever drink takes your fancy and join in the fun against a backdrop of historic bastions, fortifications and the Mediterranean sea. Walkabout with Frejgatinu and Roaming Children s Animation Valletta Waterfront 19:00 22:00 An animated tour of the historic Pinto Stores is being held for children. The tour actively

involves children by asking pertinent questions and helping them seek situations to which they can relate the newly acquired information. The satirical approach adopted ensures the tour is a fun way of discovering little-known facts about the Knights of St. John, 18th century mercantile trade in the Grand Harbour and more. St. Andrew s Scots Church South Street St Andrew s Scots Church, an International Church with regular worshippers from several countries and from the widest range of Christian denominations, is going to be open to visitors. The church has its roots in the Church of Scotland and has a partnership with the Methodist Church. The building was completed in 1857. Malta Tourism Authority Auberge d Italie Merchants Street The Auberge d Italie will be open to visitors all night and will host In Guardia Platoon reenactments of throughout the night until 23:00. The shelter which joins the Auberge d Italie to the Office of the Prime Minister at Castille was cleaned and opened after excavation works were held in 2012. The underground tour starts from Auberge de Castille and the exit will be from Auberge d Italie. Major works have been carried out espcieally at the OPM side and the rooms have been set up by life size mannequins and objects which were used during that era. The rooms and passage ways are lit up accordingly. This is one venue that one should not miss out on during the Notte Bianca. Bank of Valletta plc BOV Museum St. John s Square 19:00 22:30 Located in St. John s Square, the BOV Museum of Banking boasts a collection which history spans over 200 years. Among the items exhibited one may find an impressive antique safe, immaculately preserved plates used to print old currency notes, original hand-written ledger books, weighing scales, a huge calculator, old cheque-books and many more eye-catching items worth viewing. Auberge d Aragon Independence Square The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister is embarking on a very interesting project for Notte Bianca. This year, the Auberge d Aragon is hosting an exhibition related to the Aragonese Grandmasters. Coins dating back to six different rules of Grandmasters will be exhibited; the total amount of coins will exceed 60. Another interesting item that will be exhibited is Fra Martin de Redin y Cruzar s Sword. St. John s Co-Cathedral St. John s Square 19:00 00:00 (last entry at 23:30) St. John s Co-Cathedral is a gem of Baroque are and architecture. It was built as the conventual church for the Knights of St. John. The Grand Masters and several knights donated gifts of high artistic value and made enormous contributions to enrich it with only the best works of art. This church is till this very day an important shrine and a sacred place of worship. It is also a venue for cultural events. During Notte Bianca there will be six guided tours every half hour, starting at 19:00 till 21:30. Entrance free of charge. Fort St. Elmo St. Elmo Place The National War Museum, hosted by Fort St. Elmo, houses a superb collection of items which takes us back to prehistoric times. The items are displayed in chronological order and start with the early phases of the Bronze Age around 2,500 B.C.

Heritage Malta is to provide VIP tours within its museum. Casa Rocca Piccola Republic Street Guided tours of the whole palace and the bomb shelters are going to be offered at a reduced rate of 5. in the Auberge de Provence. The building, an example of fine Baroque architecture, was built in 1571 and followed a plan by local architect Gilormu Cassar. The Auberge de Provence was house to the Knights of the Order of St. John originating from Provence, France and displays beautiful architectural features. Of particular note is the Grand Salon, with its richly painted walls and wooden beamed ceiling. The Museum exhibits a spectacular range of artefacts dating back to Malta s Neolithic period (5000BC) up to the Phoenician Period (400BC). Ministry of Finance Maison Demandols South Street 19:00 00:00 The Ministry of Finance will be hosting an art exhibition by the following artists. Bronze by Antonio Sciortino (1879-1947) Antonio Sciortino s bronzes were acquired thanks to public funds over a number of decades; the latest being Speed acquired in 2014. This exhibition shall present the story of these high-profile acquisitions, their relevance and significance to the collection of the National Museum of Fine Arts (Heritage Malta), soon to become MUŻA at Auberge d Italie. Raymond Azzopardi (sculpture) All the work in this collection is carved from local wood such as pine, walnut and araucaria. These works have been chosen from the last 10 years and draw inspiration from the artist s childhood memories, like walking the dog with his father, making paper boats in the rain and satiric works such as drunken bishops. Various artistic abstract artwork by MCAST students of last scholastic year 2014/2015 will also be shown. Each artwork is inspired by themes and aspects of life. The Palace Armoury and The Palace State Rooms St. George s Square The Palace Armoury features one of the world s largest collections of arms and armour that is still housed in its original building. It is also certainly one of the most visible and tangible symbols of the past glories of the Sovereign Hospitaller Military Order of Malta. The State Rooms are the show piece of the Presidential Palace sited at the heart of Malta s World Heritage capital city of Valletta. The Palace itself was one of the first buildings in the new city of Valletta founded by Grand Master Jean de Valette in 1566 a few months after the successful outcome of the Great Siege of Malta in 1565. The palace today is the seat of the Office of the President of the Republic. Entrance is at a donation of 5 per person. Valletta Streetscapes - AŻAD Palazzo Pereira Republic Street Photographer Jacob Sammut and poet Miriam Calleja embark on a journey to discover Valletta, a dynamic and mysterious city. This will be the second collaboration between the two artists. Sammut and Calleja have been working together on separate media to bring a streetscape image of Valletta, showing activity and movement, as the momentum of this city dictates. The exhibition will feature hand-printed photographs divided into themes with accompanying poetry.
