Day 1: Thursday, October 22 - WICHITA/ROME Depart from Wichita for Rome, the Eternal City, on regular scheduled airline service. Dinner and breakfast will be served on board. (M) Day 2: Friday, October 23 ROME/SIENA Arrive at Rome s Da Vinci Airport. After passport control, meet your tour leader and start your discovery of Italy with a drive to the Tuscan town of Siena. Upon arrival, you ll have time to relax and adjust to the new time. In the late afternoon celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for a safe trip. This evening s dinner will be served at the hotel. (D) Day 3: Saturday, October 24 SIENA/S. GIMIGNANO/SIENA Start the day with Mass at the Basilica of San Domenico, holding the remains of the head of Saint Catherine. Begin the guided tour and discover other treasures of Siena: the splendid Cathedral and the Piazza del Campo, where each year the famous and dangerous Palio horse race takes place. After free time for lunch, continue to San Gimignano, a Tuscan hill-top town, famous all over the world for the skyline of medieval towers. On the return to Siena, stop at a winery for a wine tasting dinner. Stop along the way for a visit of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels with its Porziuncola Chapel. Mass will be celebrated before continuing to Assisi. After free time for lunch, a guided tour will include the Basilica of St. Clare, St. Francis birthplace, Piazza del Comune and the Basilica of St. Francis. Check-in and enjoy dinner at the hotel. (B, D) Day 5: Monday, October 26 ASSISI/ORVIETO/ROME Start the day with a Mass celebration at the Basilica of St. Francis. Afterwards, visit of the Church of St. Damiano and the Eremo delle Carceri, the hermitage where St. Francis prayed, surrounded by grottoes where hermits came to dwell and meditate. In the early afternoon, depart for yet another lovely Umbrian town, Orvieto. Have your camera ready as Orvieto offers the most spectacular of views from its hill top domain. Enjoy free time to browse the narrow streets and grab lunch before visiting the 13th Century Cathed ral with the Corporal Chapel, in which the relics of the Miracle of Bolsena are kept. Day 6: Tuesday, October 27 - ROME Begin with an early Mass at St. Peter s Basilica, possibly at the Tomb of St. Peter. Afterwards, tour the impressive Vatican Museums. Walk through some of the most unique rooms and view masterpieces of famous artists, the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo s work of art, the Last Judgment. Then visit the most magnificent of churches, St. Peter s Basilica. After your included lunch, take part in a Scavi Tour to admire the excavations beneath St. Peter s Basilica. The rest of the day is at your leisure. (B, L) Day 7: Wednesday, October 28 - ROME What a way to begin the day, at St. Peter s Square to attend the Papal Audience given by His Holiness Pope Francis. After free time for lunch, a guided tour will introduce the major sites of Ancient Rome which include the majestic Colosseum and the Roman Forum, one of the largest archeological sites in the world. Continue to the Church of St. Alphonsus Liguori, which houses the original icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the Patroness Saint of the Salina Diocese which was produced in Crete in the 14th century. The tour ends with a visit of the Basilica of St. Mary Major. After Mass we will enjoy dinner at a restaurant near our hotel. (B, D) Day 8: Thursday, October 29 - ROME In the morning enjoy a tour of Religious Rome, beginning with the Catacombs of St. Sabastian where Mass will be celebrated. Then continue with the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. Enjoy an included lunch before discovering monumental Rome in a walking tour which begins with the Trevi Fountain. Remember to toss in that coin that ensures your return to Rome! Move on to the Spanish Steps and the fashionable street, the Via Condotti, where many designer shops are located. The next monument is the Pantheon, the oldest standing domed structure in Rome, once a temple dedicated to all gods, currently a Catholic Church where many illustrious dead are buried. Continue your walk towards the Piazza Navona to admire Bernini s Four River Fountain. Enjoy a delicious gelato before returning to your hotel to rest up before exploring on your own one of Rome s endless fine restaurants. (B, L) Day 9: Friday, October 30 - ROME In the morning, visit the Church of the Holy Cross of Jerusalem, housing the Passion relics brought to Rome from the Holy Land by St. Helena of Constantinople. After a visit of this church, continue to the Holy Steps, believed to be the actual ones Jesus climbed when He was sentenced to death. The tour continues with the basilica of Rome, St. John Lateran. After the visit, a Mass will be celebrated. The afternoon has been left open for last minute shopping, sightseeing or packing. In the evening, an Arrivederci Roma toast is in order at the Farewell Dinner. Let the wine flow as you tune in to some of Italy s most famous melodies. (B, D) Day 10: Saturday, October 31 ROME/WICHITA Your memorable journey to Italy has come to an end. This morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your return home. TERMS AND CONDITIONS - Tour Prices: Prices are based on the exchange rate of the dollar in effect in February 2015. Should the value of the dollar drop significantly, the prices will be adjusted accordingly. The variation will be reflected in the final invoice sent prior to the final payment deadline. Those that wish to fix the exchange rate may pay in full by the deposit deadline. Reservation, Deposit and Final Payment: A $400.00 per person deposit is required by March 27, 2015 in order to make reservations, along with a signed copy of the registration form as well as a copy of the passport/s. If you are not in possession of your passport, send in your reservation with the note copy of the passport to follow. Final payment is due by August 14, 2015. Late payments are subject to a $50.00 handling charge. Late registration (sixty days prior to departure) requires a full payment by cashier check and is subject to availability. All checks should be made payable to Caravelle Tours Inc. Bank fees resulting from returned checks or charges from a financial institution for denied payments will have to be covered by the client. Cancellation/Modification Fees: The following per person fees will apply in case of cancellation: $200.00 from time of reservation up to April 27, 2015; $400.00 from April 28 to August 21, 2015; 50% of the total tour price from August 22 to September 21, 2015; no refund from September 22, 2015 up to departure. Name substitutions or reinstatement of a previously cancelled reservation may be possible up to 45 days prior to departure. A processing fee of $100.00 will apply, in addition to any additional costs charged by the airline/s. Cancellations/modifications can only be accepted in writing. Trip cancellation insurance is available and highly recommended (application forms will be provided upon confirmation of tour, at the reservation deadline of March 27, 2015. Passport and Visa: All U.S. citizens travelling to Europe require a passport valid at least 6 months after travel dates. Damaged passports will result in denied boarding. U.S citizens do not need a visa to enter Italy. Non U.S. citizens must check entry requirements with their respective Consulate. Air Transportation: Transatlantic airfare is based on a special economy class contracted fare, on regularly scheduled airlines and other IATA carriers. Total cost of taxes, security/fuel surcharges will be advised in the final invoice, however, is subject to change up to 30 days prior to departure. Deviation of departure or return date/city is possible for a limited number of seats, if the request is made at the time of reservation. A $100.00 deviation fee per person applies plus any additional costs applied by the airline. Land Transportation: As specified in the itinerary. Ground transportation will be provided by deluxe, air conditioned motor coaches. Hotels: Accommodation will be provided at the hotel described in the brochure. All rooms are with private bath. Occasionally, hotels may be substituted by others of a similar category or better at no extra cost to the passenger. All rates are per person. Single rooms, although assuring privacy, may be small in size and not ideally located. Meals: Snacks and meals are served on all transatlantic flights and all other carriers as specified by the single contractor involved. Buffet breakfast at the hotels and other meals will be provided as noted in the program. Beverages at meals (only mineral water and house wine) are included. Tipping: All gratuities and handling charges to hotel staff, porters, chambermaids and waiters are included. Personal tipping to local guides, tour leader and driver are not included. Guidelines will be provided with the confirmation of trip materialization. Baggage Handling: Checked baggage will be limited to one piece per person, plus one carry on. The tour operator accepts no liability for loss and damage of luggage, although maximum care will be taken to ensure safe handling. Baggage insurance is recommended. Exclusions: Expenses and items not mentioned in this brochure are not covered, including but not limited to: passport fees, visas, meals (other than stated in the brochure), items of a personal nature and transportation to/from home and home town airports. The airlines concerned are not responsible for any act, omission or event during the time you are not aboard the aircraft. The passenger contract in use by the airline, when issued, constitutes the sole contract between you and airline. Anyone not utilizing the pre-arranged transportation is responsible for the subsequent transportation. No changes in the itinerary are expected but we reserve the right to make them if necessary. Because of unforeseen changes in transportation schedules, the land portion of your tour may be occasionally extended or curtailed. The Operator cannot be responsible for changes of itinerary. The number of days indicated for each itinerary begins with the day of scheduled departure and ends with the scheduled return arrival day, irrespective of the hour of departure or return, and may vary due to transportation schedule changes. The Operator reserves the right to accept or retain anyone as a passenger on its trip, or to cancel a trip. After refunding all partial and full payments, the Operator has no other obligations to passengers on cancelled trip. Unused portions of the itinerary are not refundable. Full or partial payment for a trip reservation constitutes agreement to all the provision of this brochure.
