Press Release May 30 th,2017 Tourism EXPO Japan Promotion Office The world class festival from which travel is born: - Let s discover the new style of travel. - Tourism EXPO Japan 2017 Exhibition Dates: Thursday September 21 st to Sunday 24 th, 2017 Venue: Tokyo Big Sight East Exhibition Hall & Conference Tower Tourism EXPO Japan 2017 adds Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) to its organizers for this year, Japan Travel And Tourism Association, and Japan Association of Travel Agents. With the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in sight, it aims to generate and expand new tourism business through further arousing demand for outbound, domestic, and inbound travel. This year is the 4 th time we are holding this world class travel festival, and Tourism EXPO Japan 2017 will present a lavish exhibition from Thursday September 21 st to Sunday September 24 th, 2017 at Tokyo Big Sight. Attention on tourism has increased due to its effect on stimulating local economies and creating jobs and so Tourism EXPO Japan was born from the efforts of the government and citizens working together to make Japan a tourist country, and focuses on arousing demand for outbound and domestic travel as well as attracting inbound travel from overseas. The travel industry from the start has relied on various industry professionals coming together with tourism as a common cause. So as a comprehensive event to lead world tourism, and in order for the participating businesses to prosper while stimulating local economy, we will provide the opportunity for consumers focused promotions and test marketing, promote outbound, domestic, and inbound tourism, provide the opportunity to share expertise and have discussions, and create a business arena for exhibitions and business meetings. The exhibition themes for 2017, our 4 th year: Modern Travel: Visit. Participate. Enjoy. - The Power of Travel - For 2017, we ve reinforced the B to B focused business meetings, evolving from an exhibition to a trade show, to support the exhibitors business development and expansion. Also, Tourism EXPO Japan Forum will hold a global tourism forum to share the great potential of world focused Asian tourism through the theme Shimmering Japan: striving for an era as the world s top cultural exchange powerhouse with 40,000,000 inbound tourists. The 2017 themes and key visual have been decided! 1 2017 Themes Tourism EXPO Japan has passed the 1 st stage of its 2014 to 2016 founding period. The 2 nd stage from 2017 to 2019 will attempt to reinforce and perfect B to B by aiming to promote the development and expansion of the tourism business. For the 2017 start, in order to expand the event through the infiltration of consumer and business focuses we created 2 types of catchphrase. These messages speak directly to each target audience about the shift from existing tourism to a more personal variety of experience oriented tourism. Modern Travel: Visit. Participate. Enjoy. - The Power of Travel - 2 2017 Key Visual <Design Concept> The new style of travel created through unlimited combinations of travel purpose, location, and method is represented through the kaleidoscope motif. It gorgeously represents the variety and 3-dimensional depth of experience focused tourism, and calls for participation in Tourism EXPO Japan. <Production Point> It is an image of opening a door to a fun world and embarking on a trip. Beyond this door fun things await you, and this envisions the unlimited expansion of the travel opportunities beyond. 2
