ACTIVE MISSISSAUGA Commissioner s Message Commissioner s Message Dear Residents, On behalf of the Community Services Department, it is with great pleasure that I present to you the Recreation and Parks Active Mississauga guide for fall and winter 2008/2009. As always, our focus remains to provide residents of all ages with a variety of programs and services that encourage a healthy and active lifestyle. Being active is one of the most important things you can do for your health, so come out and participate in our recreational and educational programs. We offer a wide range of fun-filled activities from skating, swimming and kickboxing to interior designing, computer training and cooking. Our staff continues to deliver outstanding services and programs that break new ground and offer participants convenient program times, locations and payment options. This year, Mississauga s premiere sports and entertainment facility, the Hershey Centre, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. This multi-purpose arena now includes the Hershey SportsZone Complex, a new state-of-the-art recreational facility that offers a FIFA-sized indoor artificial turf field, four outdoor artificial soccer fields, an indoor gymnasium and a high performance gymnastics centre. There is something for everyone in the family, so I encourage you to visit and experience for yourself its many great features. This season, we are also pleased to provide you with an exciting lineup of My Mississauga events, featuring the ever-popular Tree Lighting Celebration. Bring the family out this season to our events, visit our facilities and continue to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle through our programs. Find out what opportunities there are in your community, try new activities, and learn new skills. I look forward to receiving your feedback on how we can enhance our programs and continue to provide you with excellent service. Your feedback can be submitted by visiting our website at www.mississauga.ca. Sincerely, Paul Mitcham Commissioner of Community Services Community Services Commissioner of Community Services Paul Mitcham Director, Recreation & Parks John Lohuis Director, Planning, Development and Business Services Susan Burt Director, Hershey Group/ District Manager, Northeast John Rydzewski District Manager, Northwest Bob Williams District Manager, South Laura Piette District Manager, Operational Planning Stu Taylor Manager, Business Planning Derek Boyce Manager, Park Development Section Lorenzo Ruffini Manager, Parks & Forestry Andy Wickens Manager, Planning & Heritage David Marcucci 66

Map Index Facility Locations Map Index Facility Locations Each facility is listed with a map code and facility number followed by the grid reference and address. The maps on pages 4 and 5 have been divided into two sections (East and West) and there is a numbered dot on the maps for each facility. To find the exact location of your facility, use the grid reference to narrow down the search area and locate the facility by its dot number. EXAMPLE: To find the location of Clarkson Arena, the map code listed on this page under Arenas is 63 and the grid reference is B9. First turn to the maps (page 4 and 5) then find the grid reference B9 square and locate facility dot number 63 for the exact location.
