THE LOCATION Surrounded by magnificent rock outcrops, Tshwene Lodge is a secluded oasis in the rugged valley of the Taaibos River. The Chacma baboon, after which the lodge is named, calls at the break of dawn. 4

This malaria-free reserve has many species of antelope, zebra, giraffe, baboon, hyena, wild dog, and other fauna foraging on planes and verdant slopes, while perennial waters hide crocodile and offers sustenance to a huge variety of birds. 18
The rugged grandeur of the Limpopo Province envelops you at Welgevonden and the altitude brings year-long cooling winds and temperate climate. It was here that the celebrated author and poet, Eugene Marais, penned his classics, Soul of the Ape and Soul of the White Ant. 19

However, rates quoted for confirmed bookings will be honoured. RATES INCLUDE: Fully serviced Luxury accommodation Two game drives per day in open safari vehicles with sundowners and snacks Optional game walks booking is essential Three meals daily Tea & Coffee Road transfer to and from the Welgevonden Main Gate to the lodge RATES EXCLUDE: Curio shop purchases. All beverages. Telephone calls. Lodge Transfers. Park Entrance Fee of R 85.00 per person per day (subject to change without prior notification). Compulsory international fully comprehensive travel insurance. PAYMENT Direct Bookings: A deposit of 50% of the total accommodation charge is required to confirm a provisional reservation and full payment is required 4 weeks prior to arrival. Tour-operators are required to prepay in full 4 weeks prior to arrival, unless otherwise arranged. There is a 5% surcharge on credit card payments for commissionable bookings. Extras may be settled in camp. We accept all major credit cards. Peak Season Terms and Conditions: 20 December to 5 January. All Bookings over Christmas and New Year s Eve can only be secured once a 25% non-refundable deposit has been paid. Group Reservations: Should the reservations department require the accommodation that is being held by the group for the same dates, we will request the group to supply us with an immediate 25% non-refundable deposit. CANCELLATION POLICY: Four weeks before arrival: 50% of full amount Two weeks before arrival: 75% of full amount One week before arrival: 100% of full amount. CHILDREN We regret, due to the inconvenience to other guests, we only allow children over the age of 10 at Tshwene Lodge. Children 10 to 11 years of age pay 50% of the full adult rate if sharing with parents. Children 12 18 years of age pay the full adult rate. 26 Please Note: The lodge and swimming pool are unfenced. Children must be supervised at all times. ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE: Daily transfers from the Welgevonden Main Gate to the lodge depart at 12:30. Daily transfers to the main gate on check out will arrive at the Welgevonden Main Gate at 12:00 daily. Please note: late arrival or departure will be charged for at R1000.00 per way. GETTING THERE DRIVING DIRECTIONS From Johannesburg HOW TO GET TO LODGE GPS CO-ORDINATES: S 24º 19 29 E 27º 49 22 Tshwene is a two and a half hour drive from Johannesburg. Daily road and air transfers may be arranged on request. Tshwene is equipped for private helicopter transfers. The reserve also has two private landing strips. As no private vehicles are allowed in the reserve, guests have to be picked up from the Welgevonden main gate by our rangers at 12:30 daily. Please contact reservations to assist in road transfers. BY PRIVATE AIRCRAFT: Main gate/ Northern Landing Strip (±22km from lodge - 45 minute drive) Co-Ordinates... At the T-junction turn left towards Nylstroom / Modimolle and continue straight on for approximately 70km to Vaalwater / Mabatlane. Continue through Vaalwater / Mabatlane on the Thabazimbi road for approximately 24km and turn left at the Welgevonden main gate. Do not turn left at south gate or East gate! AIR TRANSFERS There are no scheduled road or air transfers/ charters to Tshwene Lodge, however we can arrange these on request. There are 2 runways in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve.
