1. Measure window to determine exactly where awning is to be installed. 2. Installing the Headbox Installing to Architrave Bend the lug at the top of the headbox back at 90 O. Fit headbox directly to architrave with lug sitting on top of architrave. It will be necessary to drill extra holes in the mounting bracket of the headbox. Fix with 50mm x 10 gauge screws. This will ensure you screw into the stud behind the architrave. Installing to Brick / Render Install headbox 150mm (approximately) past edge of brick work. The lug at the top of the headbox can be pushed up behind quad under eave or bent over and pushed flush up with quad. PUSH UP BEHIND TIMBER QUAD BENT OVER AND PUSHED UP FLUSH RE-DRILL NEW HOLES If it is a full brick house with bricks above window, the headbox should be installed level with the top of the second brick. Fit to avoid mortar joints if possible. Attach brackets using 40mm x 6mm Alex aluminium rawl plugs or equivalent and 40mm x 10 gauge self tapping screws. 3. Mounting the Guide Rods To mark and drill position for guide rods use the following dimensions. ARM P H 150mm 208 160 300mm 358 310 450mm 508 460 REPLACES ISSUE DATE: DECEMBER 2007 APPROVED BY: E. MITCHELL 6 OF 156

Place arms and L brackets (facing upwards) onto the guide rods. Attach guide rods using 40mm x 10 gauge screws (if brick use Alex aluminium rawl plugs). Ensure guide rods are parallel before attaching L brackets. 4. Installing the Roller Tube Assembly The spring in the roller tube has been pre-tensioned in the factory. Place the assembly into the brackets of the headbox. NOTE: For over roll the spade and pawl should be on the right. For under roll they should be on the left. Ensure pawl is on the bottom. Pulling down on the bottom rail releases the pawl. Check to ensure enough tension has been placed on the spring. To increase pull awning down about 600mm, lock pawl into place and lift out. On the pawl and spade end, roll one full turn and replace, check tension. To decrease tension do the opposite. 5. Fitting Arms to Bottom Rail Pull down awning and lock into place with pawl. Attach arms to bottom rail using 32mm x 12 gauge screws. Pull awning up and down by hand to ensure it is working correctly and smoothly. Check for telescoping or creasing of the fabric. If this occurs the headbox may not be horizontal and level (Rectify). 6. Fit the Ring Pull Attach ring pull to the centre of the bottom rail as per sketch. 7. GENERAL DESCRIPTION FIXED GUIDE AwNING The Fixed Guide Awning componentry consists of items common to those of the Automatic Awning e.g., spring motors, top roller tube, bottom keyway tube, headbox. The Fixed Guide Awning is guided up and down the wall by two cylindrical type sleeves attached to the moulded endcaps fitted into the end of the bottomrail. These slide on 12mm diameter guide rods fixed to the inside of the headbox at the top and long brackets projecting out from the wall at the bottom of the awning. Fixed Guide Awnings are widely used on upper storey and shop windows as in domestic applications. FIxED GUIDE In most Fixed Guide Awnings the spring assembly is located into the right hand end of the top keyway tube allowing the skin to roll forward off the top roller. This is an over-roll situation. If and under-roll awning is required, the spring assembly should be located into the left hand end of the keyway tube, the skin will now roll backwards off the top roller. MEASURING FIXED GUIDE & FAbRIC AwNINGS ARCHITRAVE WIDTH + 0 DROP AS MEASURED On Face Measuring - Width Where a window has an architrave and the walls are of a fibro/permalum construction you must measure the architrave width only. Where you have timbered walls you should measure architrave plus (+) 300mm. REVEAL WIDTH -10 FIT ONTO WINDOW FRAME OR INSTALL ANGLES AND POSTS DOWN BOTH SIDES FOR FACE FIxING OF AWNING DROP AS MEASURED Reveal Fit Measuring - Width As indicated, either fix to the window frame if you have the room without interference of the window opening or create a surface by which to face fit to ie. Angles 50 x 50 or posts 38 x 38 fixed to the side brick. FULL BRICK / BRICK VENEER On Face Measuring - Width DROP AS MEASURED WIDTH +300mm DROP AS MEASURED For full brick or brick veneer, measure opening width and add 300mm minimum to the width measured. Installing a Fixed Guide Awning is similar to that used for automatic awnings. l l l INSTALL HOOD AS PER AUTOMATIC AWNING PLACE AWNING IN HEADBOx ASSEMBLY ADJUST SPRING TENSION FIXED GUIDE - INSTALLATION l FIT GUIDE RODS Slide a guide rod down through each of the guide runners fitted to the ends of the bottomrail. Fix the top of the rods to the inside faces of the headbox ends with 20mm x 6mm diam.hex.bolts and nuts. To establish the position of the long L brackets, drop a plumb-line from the ends of the headbox. Mark and drill the fixing holes at 26mm centres in from the plumb-line and vertically to suit the awning skin drop. Slide the brackets up the guide rods and screw them firmly to the wall. Check the rods are parallel from both the front and side views. Check the awning operation ensuring the bottomrail and runners move freely up and down the guide rods. l FIT GUIDE RODS Pull the awning down by hand until the bottomrail runners touch the long brackets. Engage the pawl of the top roller into the cut-out hub. Accurately measure the centre distance between the two long L brackets. Mark the wall at this point. Place the fixed guide pulley bracket centrally over this mark and at approximately 100mm below the bottom edge of the bottomrail. Check the pulley on the front of the brackets is aligned centrally with the pull-down-ring fitted to the centre of the bottomrail. Mark and drill the fixing holes and screw the bracket firmly to the wall. NOTE: It is important the pulley bracket and pull-down-ring are central on the bottomrail, otherwise the awning will operate out-of-square causing jamming on the guide bars. l RELEASE OF PAWL REPLACES ISSUE DATE: DECEMBER 2007 APPROVED BY: E. Pre-drill holes into architrave with a 3mm drill to ensure you don t split the architrave. Fix brackets using 50mm x 10 gauge screws. This will ensure you screw into the stud behind the architrave. Install to Brick / Render Install brackets minimum 50mm past edge of brick work to the inside edge of the bracket. Allow 25mm clearance from underneath of the eave (soffit) to the top edge of the bracket. If a full brick house with bricks above the window, bracket should be level at the top with the second brick. Fit brackets to avoid mortar joints. Attach brackets using 40mm x 6mm Alex aluminium rawl plugs or equivalent and 40mm x 10 gauge self tapping screws. NOTE: In some cases it may be necessary to install brick fix brackets behind your standard brackets if you feel the bricks and mortar are suspect to movement or are soft. See sketch. 3. Installing the Headbox Tilt the headbox slightly backwards and hang it by the slot running along the back of the backing plate. Lower the headbox into the bracket. Centralise the headbox before fixing. Drill and fix a 4.8mm x 12.5mm gutter bolt and nut or equivalent to the bottom of the headbox and bracket. 4. Mounting the Guide Rod NOTE: Guide rods should be positioned within 500mm of ends of the bottom rail and should be of equal distance. To mark and drill the vertical position of guide rods, slide the guide rod through the stirrup on the end of the self locking arms (see sketch). Align bottom of headbox with the inside face of the snap on brackets. This is the correct position for your guide rod. Mark holes, drill and attach the guide rod using 40mm x 10 gauge self tapping screws. For brick or render use 40mm x 6mm Alex aluminium rawl plugs (6.5mm masonry drill) or equivalent. Note: If requiring guide rods in 600mm each end, there must be 1800mm between them. A ratio of 3 to 1. ie. 400-1200 - 400 500-1200 - 500 600-1800 - 600 REPLACES ISSUE DATE: DECEMBER 2007 APPROVED BY: E. MITCHELL 26 OF 156

Arms must be replaced onto the guide rod before the L -shaped brackets. Slide on brackets with the L facing upwards and fit the rubber caps on rods. Check rods are parallel and vertical before attaching brackets. Screw your brackets to the wall as above. 5. Installing the Roller Tube Assembly The spring in the roller tube has been pre-tensioned in the factory. Place the assembly into the brackets of the headbox. NOTE: For over roll the spade and pawl should be on the right. For under roll it should be on the left. Ensure pawl is on the bottom. Pulling down on the bottom rail releases the pawl. Check to ensure enough tension has been placed on the spring. To increase pull awning down about 600mm, lock pawl into place lift out. On the pawl and spade end, roll one full turn and replace, check tension. To decrease tension do the opposite. 6. Fitting Arms to Bottom Rail Snap the snap on bracket of the arm onto one side of the bottom rail and then the other side. NOTE: The largest side of the C shaped bracket should be on the bottom of the rail. Ensure the self locking arms are square, even and central, as this may inhibit the operation of the awning. Pull awning up and down, ensuring that it is working correctly and smoothly. Check for telescoping and creasing of the fabric. If this occurs, the arms may not be in the correct position. Secure arms to bottom rail using 8 gauge x 12.5mm self tapping screws. Be careful not to over-tighten. 7. Fit the Ring Pull Attach ring pull to the centre of the bottom rail as per sketch. 8. Mounting the Arms NOTE: Arms should be positioned within 500mm of ends of the bottom rail and should be of equal distance. The vertical positioning of the arms is determined by holding the arm with the inside face of the snap on bracket hard up against the underside of the headbox. Mark the position of the top hole. Drill holes and fix arms using 40mm x 10 gauge self tapping screws. For brick or render 40mm x 6mm Alex aluminium rawl plugs (6.5mm masonry drill) or equivalent. SPRING LOADED ARM POSITION NOTE: ARMS MUST BE INSTALLED POINTING DOWNWARDS. REPLACES ISSUE DATE: DECEMBER 2007 APPROVED BY: E. MITCHELL 34 OF 156

5. Installing the Roller Tube For Tape - Lift the roller assembly into the brackets of the headbox. Feed tape through tape guide on the bottom lip of the headbox. Tie off around arm to temporarily secure it. For Rope - Repeat as for tape, except feed rope through rope guide. 6. External Rope Operation Fit rope guide directly below rope spool. To attach the rope cleat find a position under the rope guide at about elbow height and fix using two (2) 40mm x 10 gauge self tapping screws. Attach the rope tassel and tie off around the cleat. To operate undo rope, allow awning to roll down to desired height and re-tie rope around cleat. 7. External Tape Lock To attach the tape lock find a suitable position, eye level or higher, and attach to wall using two (2) 40mm x 10 gauge self tapping screws. Feed tape down through slot at top and attach tape tassel. To operate, hold and pull the tape close to wall, let down at desired level. Pull tape towards you, this locks awning in position. 8. Internal Tape Operation In most cases it will be necessary to offset the tape so that the tape will come through the wall beside or on the architrave. (If full brick then behind curtains). Pick a point around 300mm below headbox, ie. mortar joint, and mark this on your window. Internally if your windows have: a) 40mm architraves - drill beside a) 70mm architraves - drill architrave c) Rendered walls - drill in from edge 60mm minimum. Mark the position to drill your hole from inside. Drill a 6mm hole through the wall and stud. Re-drill using 13mm drill. Replace with a 13mm masonry drill (long series) and drill a hole through the mortar / brick from inside. If rendered brick work, must drill from both sides to prevent blowout of render. Place the swivel tape plate and guide onto the tape ensuring that there is no twist in tape. From the inside, push your hook through the wall (old coat hanger) and hook your tape through the wall. The tape plate and guide can now be attached to the outside using 40mm x 10 gauge screws (and aluminium Alex s plugs or equivalent if brick). TAPE Next feed on the plate for lift tape lock, spigot side first, longest side to bottom. Feed lift tape lock onto tape to ensure no twist in tape then screw to wall using 40mm x 10 gauge screws. Attach tape tassel. 9. Internal Tape Winch Operation As for tape operation, however do not attach plate and tape lock on inside. Replace with another swivel tape plate and guide (see sketch). 10. Fitting Internal Tape Winch Unscrew the cover of the internal tape winch and note the direction in which the tape runs off the spool. Remove the tape supplied with the winch. Thread the tape from the awning tape spool through the two swivel tape guides. Attach swivel tape guides to the internal and external walls. Lower the awning. Thread the end of the tape through the slot on the tape winch spool. Cut the tape so that only 1-2 windings will remain on the spool. Tie a secure knot in the end. Wind the excess tape on to the spool. Replace the spool in the winch ensuring that the tape winds off in the correct direction. Screw cover back on to winch. Drill four (4) holes in the wall for the winch and fit rawl plugs supplied or use the fastener appropriate for the installation. At least two of the screws should be set into an architrave or stud. All four screws must be used. If necessary add packing behind the winch if attaching to an uneven surface. Test the awning to see if it functions properly. NOTE: For over roll spade and pawl should be on the right hand side. For under roll they should be on the left. Ensure the pawl is on the bottom. Pulling down on the bottom rail releases the pawl. Check to ensure enough tension has been placed on the spring. To increase, pull awning down about 600mm, lock pawl into place, lift out pawl and spade end, roll one full turn and replace, check tension. To decrease tension do the opposite. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CHANNEL ROLL UP AwNINGS PREPARATION At first, prepare site for fitting Channel RUA by: Look out for open space to unpack awning hardware and fabric that is supplied by LUXAFLEX Window Fashions. Identify awnings for each respective window or post/s on a Verandah. Align channel to the post that is being fitted to. Make sure channel is straight along the post by benchmarking it with a spirit level. Drill holes in the channels using a 5mm drill. Drill a hole each 100mm from top and bottom and then 600mm apart. Repeat above steps for each channel. Screw channels to the post using 10 gauge x 38mm long self tapped flat head screws for timber post and 10 gauge x 25mm long self tapped flat head screws for metal posts. Begin with top and bottom screws and then follow through with the intermediate screws. Follow above procedure for other channel too. Once both channels are secured firmly, now fit roller tube with the fabric on it. With this, first secure bottom rail inside the channel firmly on both sides. Now, start with the idle end side. Make sure, idle end pin is locked in safely inside the Universal Bracket. Then follow through with drive end pin. Make sure both these pins are locked in position and then insert the plastic retainer that prevents jumping of the roller tube from the bracket. Finally, roll the fabric in and out to make sure it tracks well on the roller tube and guides smoothly within the channel. Ensure bottom rail is straight by benchmarking it with a spirit level. MEASURING INSTRUCTIONS WIDTH 1. Determine the width required to be covered with the client. Taking in light fittings and down pipes etc. 2. Determine the best method of securing mounting brackets to the area selected. The methods are as follows: a) Rafter bracket sets 42.582.751 may be used to suspend the awning from rafters. Tiles must be pushed back for access. The rafter bracket is then bolted to the rafter so that the mounting surface sits on the eaves lining. The awning mounting bracket is then bolted through the eave lining to the rafter bracket (see sketch). b) The facia bracket 42.580.000 should be used when the head clearance is not sufficient. Houses that are built on concrete slabs generally have this problem. A slot is made next to the roof rafter through the fascia board. This allows the bracket to slide beside the roof rafter, which is then bolted together. Note : access same as rafter bracket by sliding back tiles (see sketch). EAVE c) Alternatively, the reversed facia bracket 42.578.751 can be used to gain even more height (see sketch). Note: this is not a standard bracket, must be ordered as a Reverse Facia Bracket. d) Flat roof reversed facing bracket 42.579.120 may be used if you have a flat roof with a concealed guttering. Determine the position of the brackets (see pic 3) Picture 3 IMPORTANT NOTE: When installing brackets they must be both perpendicular and string lined to ensure perfect alignment. Note: When using ceiling brackets in association with 42.582.751 Rafter Brackets it is essential that an additional dressed timber beam [200mm x 50mm minimum] be installed under the eaves using 100mm x 12mm coach bolts [not supplied]. This will facilitate an optimum spread of the awning weight and will enable the ceiling brackets to be installed close to the arms, in their correct positions. This is necessary as the spacing of the rafters will not align with the required position of the ceiling brackets. Prior to the awning installation we recommend the rafter brackets and the dressed timber beam be installed to allow the customer to paint the timber. WARNING! all brackets supplied must be installed due to safety reasons. IMPORTANT NOTE: Awnings with Hood The hood must be installed after the wall mounting brackets have been installed and prior to the installation of the awning. Wall and ceiling brackets are 60mm wide. WARNING! The brackets must be fixed solidly to substantial surface. Hollow blocks or foam products are not suitable. Brick veneer surfaces require at least seven courses of brickwork above the bracket and four courses below. Wall Mount - (with optional hood) Ceiling Mount Proceed as follows: - Mark the fixing holes for the first bracket. - For concrete or brick work drill holes to correspond with the fixing system size and recommendations. - For wood, drill holes according to the depth of the coach bolts being used. - Screw on the bracket. - Align the bracket with a spirit level vertically. - If needed pack out the bracket. - Mount further brackets in line with the first bracket. Use a string line to ensure perfect alignment. - Use a tape measure to determine the correct spacings between brackets. For awnings with rain hood, rain hood must be installed after the brackets and before the awning. 3. Hang the awning Remove holding bands and packing material ONLY after installation! Ensure there are sufficient personnel to lift the awning into the brackets Proceed as follows: - Insert the square bar of the awning into the bracket - Insert locking screws from below and tighten them. INSTALLATION (CONTINUED) 4. Adjust the awning pitch (only if necessary) The awnings come set at 5º. If required the pitch can be changed using the adjusting nut as Indicated (No.1) on diagram. Picture 4 Attention risk of damage! Go ahead as follows: - Remove the holding bands - Project the awning only approx. 1/3rd - Adjust the pitch (adjusting nut SW 17, pos.1) - Adjust the arms in turn by max 10º degrees WARNING! ONLY remove holding bands after awning is fully installed. Folding arms are under spring tension. The awning may open suddenly. Installing the hood (option) The hood must be installed after the wall brackets and before the awning. Picture 5 Proceed in sequence: - Connect the Hood profiles. (1 and 2) into each other. - Small profile sits on top of large profile. - Insert the head of two hexagonal bolts (M10 x25). one in each slot (3 ). - Screw the angle brackets (4) onto the wall brackets (5). - Put the hood (1 and 2) onto the additional rain hood. - Angle brackets (4). - Align the hood and tighten the nuts. - Fasten the end caps with screws (6). - Then hang the awning. NOTE: When only 2 wall brackets are supplied, an additional angle will be delivered, which can be fixed straight to the wall without the need of a wall bracket. Project the awning slightly. - Initial adjustment (adjust arms in increments of 10º only) (picture 3.). - Loosen nuts (pos.1) with open ended wrench (SW 19) (approx. 3 turns). - adjust arm by 1 cleat (mark on face of connector). - Tighten nuts (pos.1). - Repeat on other side. - Fine adjustment. Installation onto a surface: TYPE A (standard bracket width, 60mm) Position of the bracket centre ½ as mentioned in chart. The awning gets delivered completely assembled [excluding an optional hood] determine the PosItIon of the brackets Picture 1. fix brackets onto InstallatIon surface: danger of damage The ceiling brackets, rafter brackets, wall brackets and spreader plates must be fixed solidly to a substantial surface. Foam product or hollow blocks are not suitable. Proceed as follows: - Mark the fixing holes for the first bracket. - For concrete or brick work, drill holes to correspond with the fixing system size and recommendations. - For wood, drill holes according to the depth of the coach bolts being used. - Screw on bracket. - Align the bracket with a spirit level vertically. - Mount further brackets in line with the first bracket. Use a string to ensure perfect alignment. - Use a tape measure to determine the correct spacings between brackets. For awnings with an optional standard rain hood, the hood can be installed after the awning is fitted if there is enough room otherwise install the hood after the brackets and before the awning. InstallatIon of hold down bracket for hood (only for awnings over 4500mm) The hold down bracket ensures a firm closure of cassette, without a gap in the centre. For assembly of hold down bracket: Proceed as follows: (Picture 6.) Picture 6. - Fit hold down bracket device from the side, between wall bracket (support bracket) and cassette profile. - Clamp with pre-assembled screw against wall bracket and screw (allen key size 4) till the front edge of roof profile reaches the required position. adjust the awning PItCh (only If necessary) The awning pitch (0º...45º) is adjusted at the joint (picture 6. pos.1). Attention. Danger of damage when adjusting! Project the awning slightly (approximately 1/3). Otherwise the joint screw gets damaged. Adjust arms in turn a max of 10º each at a time. Proceed as follows: (Picture 7.) Picture 7. - Project awning approximately 1/3. - Remove cap or make adjustment at the adjustment nut (SW 17, pos.1) Repeat for other arm. - Project awning completely and check arm adjustment. Check front rail is level by using a spirit level. Do not fully close awning unless front rail is level as it may not close completely into the cassette. hanging the awning Proceed as follows: (Picture 8.) Picture 8. - Hang single cassette parts into the brackets. and lock them immediately with clamp part and screws. - Project awnings on drive side approximately 300mm. - Connect coupling joint (pos.3,4) with hexagonal screws (pos.1, size 5). - Remove holding bands on arms. - Project awning completely. - Connect cassette parts with 2 connecting pins (pos.7). Connecting pins are already factory-made pre-assembled in the corresponding profile lanes of roof profile (picture 1. pos.5) and of wall profiles. (picture 1., pos.24). - Loosen slightly the hexagonal screws (pos.1 size 5) of coupling joints. - Ensure equal fabric tension by twisting the roller tube. - Tighten hexagonal screws (pos.1, size 5) of coupling joints. - Make a test run. - Drill coupling joint with metal drill (Ø 5mm) into position of fixing screw (pos.2). - Tighten fixing screw (pos.2, size 5). adjust the awning PItCh (only If necessary) See (picture 6.) on page 136. InstallatIon of gap CoVer The gap cover, covers the gap between the 2 cassettes. It runs underneath the awning fabric and above the fabric guide tube. (picture 8, pos.2) Proceed as follows: (Picture 9.) Picture 9. - Remove in hem- stitching of gap cover fabric pre-assembled clamp (pos.6). - Project awnings approximately 500mm. - Loosen one of pre-assembled holders (pos. 1) by means of a wrench (SW 5). - Insert fabric guide tube (pos.2) into holders (pos.1). - Fix holders (pos.1). - Insert barrel arbor (pos.3) into holders (pos.1). - Pre-tension barrel arbor (pos.3) in unrolling direction according to projection approximately 3 to 5 turns. - Check tension of barrel arbor (pos.3). - Fix fabric clamp (pos. 6) into hem stitching of gap cover fabric by means of screws and small flange nut (pos.7). - Pull gap cover fabric (pos.4) above fabric guide tube (pos.2) towards front rail. - Push front profile slightly backwards. - Insert gap cover fabric and fabric clamp (pos.6) with small flange nut (pos.7) completely on one side into profile channel. - Insert, centre and screw small flange nut (pos.6) into second front rail (pos.5). - Connect front rail with flange nut (pos.8) into lower gap of profile. - Complete a test run.
