Wednesday, April 22 nd Arrive Paris Upon arrival you ll enjoy a panoramic tour of Paris on the way to the Concorde St. Lazare, a 4 hotel that is centrally located near the Opera. En route, keep an eye out for sketching venues you d like to return to. Your afternoon is at leisure to rest or explore the City of Lights on your own. Join Carin and Marlene tonight for a welcome drink. Hotel Concorde St. Lazare, a 4 hotel Thursday, April 23 rd Paris Depart for a half day excursion to Giverny, home to the famous impressionist painter MONET. You ll tour the spectacular gardens and Monet s house with Carin & Marlene. Be sure to take lots of pictures close up and at a distance, so you can recreate the garden later at your leisure. Enjoy lunch at any of the charming restaurants in the village with new and old friends. You ll return to Paris in the late afternoon. Friday, April 24 th Paris You ll spend all morning in one of the world s finest museums, the LOUVRE, complete with a special art guide and whisper ear phones for explanations about the museum and its works. Your afternoon is at leisure with time to paint with Carin and Marlene. Saturday, April 25 th (Paris) Depart for Avignon This morning you ll tour the Musee D Orsay, Impressionist Museum, situated along the river Seine and housed in a turn of the century rail station. After your visit, you ll be transferred to the Gare De Lyon train station. There you will board the TGV for your first class journey to Avignon where you will be picked up and transferred to the Roman city of Arles. Your accommodation for the next five nights is the centrally located, 1 st class, Hotel Atrium Arles. Hotel Atrium Arles, (3 ½ ) 1 st class hotel Sunday, April 26 th Arles (BB, L) This morning you ll visit the Venice of France, Isle Sur La Sorgue village and her famous Sunday market. Stroll around and enjoy at your leisure. Proceed to the nearby village of Fontaine- De-Vaucluse. Enjoy the rushing natural spring that feeds the Sorgue river and discover it s underground origin. After this you ll have time to enjoy an included Trout lunch along the river. Afterwards we ll continue to Les Baux-De-Provence for a visit to this charming citadel village with
a medieval castle. Time to sketch this afternoon or shop in the many provincial boutiques. You ll enjoy a real treat with entrance to the Cathedral of Images located in an enormous cave under the village of Les Baux. Monday, April 27 th Arles Today enjoy a half day walking tour of the Palace of the Popes and the picturesque city of Avignon. The afternoon will allow time for a relaxing lunch and time to sketch followed by an afternoon wine tasting at a nearby winery. Tuesday, April 28 th Arles Today we ll spend a full day visiting both of the charming medieval towns of Roussillion, then continue onto the spectacular, perched village of Gordes. There we will have time to visit the markets which are only open on Tuesdays. You ll have plenty of leisure time to paint and enjoy lunch. Wednesday, April 29 th Arles Today you ll have ample time with your guide to immerse yourself in the Roman city of Arles with her beautifully preserved Coliseum. Arles most famous artist was Vincent Van Gogh. Your guide will take you to many of Van Gogh s haunts and landscapes reflected in many of his paintings. A visit to the Eglise St. Trophime, a 12 th century gothic Roman church and entrance to the Van Gogh Foundation is included. You ll see the bridge of Pont Langlois or Pont De La Reginelle, also know as Van Gogh s bridge. Then visit the Espace Van Gogh Courtyard, where he lived for a time. After a leisurely lunch, perhaps on the old Roman Forum, you ll have plenty of time to paint with Marlene and Carin. Thursday, April 30 th (Arles) Depart for Nice Depart this morning for the French Riviera. Along the way you ll stop in the university town of Aix-En-Provence. Here we ll stroll along the Cours Mirabeau and visit the Cathedral of St. Sauveur then continue to the studio of Aix s most famous artist, Cezanne. We ll view his actual still lifes and learn about his career. We ll arrive into Nice in mid-afternoon. You ll have time to stroll along the Promenades des Anglais, Nice s famous Boulevard that runs along the Mediterranean sea to get a feel for this fabulous resort city. The old medieval part of Nice is within walking distance as well, enjoy! Hotel Meridien Promenades des Anglais, a 4 hotel Friday, May 1 st Nice (BB, L) Today we ll take a walking tour of old Nice (Vieux Nice). You ll love her famous Flower Market. Take lots of pictures for future painting. Time to shop and people watch and enjoy an included lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, we depart along one of the scenic Cornich roads for St. Jean Cap Ferrat where you ll visit the Ephrussi De Rothchild, a Florentine villa, and stroll around its inspirational gardens. The views are spectacular in every direction atop these cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean sea. Here you ll have the opportunity paint some of these majestic views. We ll take a panoramic tour of Nice on our way to the famous medieval village of St. Paul de Vence in the nearby Alpes Maritimes. We ll pass through the famous resort town of Antibes, a favorite yacht mooring for the rich and famous. In the artist s mecca of St. Paul, take a walking tour and visit her many art galleries. Picasso and Chagall, among others, made St. Paul their own. Here you ll have more time to paint with Marlene and Carin before returning back to Nice for your farewell dinner.
