If, while using, the pilot cut or damage a bridle, tear any part of the parachute,repair and replacement of damaged parts are not taken in account by the warranty and the user will be charged for it. Preparation and Installation To proceed to the mounting, the machine must be turned off, propellers and battery uninstalled. Thanks for respecting scrupulously the given informations. By means of a Torx screwdriver, remove the 2 screws located on the Inspire 1 s back. (It won t be used again) Install the first sideframe on the principal platinum by means of 2xCHC M3-8 screws and 2x2 M3 nutlockings. Repeat the same operation on the other side. Then, position the platinum on the frame. Use the 2 Torx screws previously removed to fix the platinum onto the frame. Check if the drill holes located upstream of the platinum are aligned with the frame. Then, prepare 2xCHC M3-10 screws with 2 large M3 rings and 2x nutlockings Now, let s assembly the ejection plate. Assemble the two parts as indicated on the picture. Fix it by the mean of a CHC M3-8 screw and a M3 nutlocking. Remove the Torx screw used on the Inspire sideframe. Repeat the same operation on the other side. 4 5
Please redo the same for the second part. Then, attach the pod on the ejection plate by mean of 2x CHC M3-8 screws, 2 large M3 rings ans 2x M3 nutlockings. Prepare the ejection strap. Use a CHC M3-8 screw, a classic ring and a M3 nutlocking. Insert it in the littlest ring. Arm yourself of the servomotor and of the two other pieces as indicated on the picture.. Install the servomotor on the platinum by mean of 3x CHC M3-25 screws and 3x M3 nutlockings. Join the set with the first part of the installation as illustrated by the picture. Think of inserting the servomotor support obliquely. Reassure the set with 4x M3-8 screws and 4xM3 nutlockings. Install laterally 2x M3-8 screws with 2 large rings on each sideframe. 6 7
Then, mount the ejection plate. Add 2x M3 nutlockings. Do not tighten them completely in order to ensure a rotation without friction of the plate. Insert servomotor s connector through the hole planned for that purpose. That space will then serve to welcome the PPM signal reception s mechanism. Cut the servo s arm by mean of a clamp as illustrated on the picture. Perform a 45 angle. Install the 600mm kevlar strap as shown on the picture. Repeat the same operation on the other arm. Position again the servomotor as armed? Put the plate in a horizontal way and fix the strap by its larger ring, on servomotor s arm. Then, use a rubber to put the ejection system in tension. Repeat the same operation on the other side. For this step, use a servomotor tester or a classic Tx/Rx set. Connect the servomotor on the receiver. Put the channel affected to the servomotor in high position (servomotor s rest position). Position the arm on the servomotor and fix it by mean of the screw included with the accessories of the servomotor. Dismantle the black strap on the rescue parachute. Then, position the servomotor in low position ( parachute ejection position). Check that the arm do not force on the platinum. It must have about 1mm gap. Adjust this gap on your autonomous release module or on your Tx / Rx set. Once the black strap is unmounted, proceed to the next step by fixing the parachute on the two straps previously installed on the machine. 8 9
Important notice: Before installing definitively the parachute on the ejection system, you must unfold the parachute and repackage it. (report to Parachute Folding content). Lock the Pod on the servomotor s arm. This release module can be a simple 2,4ghz receiver (without telemetry), or an autonomous external module (Arduino type). Only 2 to 3 bridle must close the container. Please do not let the entire bridle on the elastic buckle. Parachute opening could be delayed, or non-existent. 10 11
Parachute folding Thanks to its high quality manufacturing level, our parachute can perform more than 100 uses, with no alteration of its performances. Before first use and after each use, it will be necessary to repackage the parachute. It is essential to tidy it in a dry space, protected of the light. First of all, spread well the rescue parachute and ensure that no bridle pass above another bridle. Perform a few inflatings. Position the rescue parachute in a flat position., and put the bridle together. Maintain the bridle by the help of a sand bag or a lead ballast if it is possible. Clear up well and separate each panel. Then share them out in an identical manner on both sides (5 on each side). Fold in the length sense the left panels, then on the right panels as shown on the pictures below. Parachute trailing edge must be at the level of the shutter of closure of the container. To package the bridle into the container, seize them, then perform an 8 by means of your fingers. Then, insert the set in the front of the parachute trailing edge. Seize the black elastic buckle to close the container, as illustrated above. We now obtain the panels folded in the length sense, next step consist to fold the rest to the Pod size. Folding must be performed in 3 folds. Once the shutter is closed, pass 2 or 3 bridle in order to lock the opening. Think to check regularly that the container is locked well. Don t hesitate to aerate and refold your parachute every month. 12 13
F.A.Q. Questions / Answers While using for the first time, my parachute did not deploy correctly. How is it possible? If parachute did not open, it is due to its packaging. Before first use, it is imperative to fold and refold the parachute once, or there is a risk that it does not deploy. Is it necessary to perform a deployment test to ensure that the kit runs well? Yes, it is possible to perform an ejection test inside by maintaining the multicopter 2 meters high from the floor and proceed to the release. The parachute must be ejected from 1 to 2 meters to the rear with a 45 angle. Is there any risk that the Inspire 1 propellers cut the parachute bridle during the deployment? Do engines turn themselves off beforehand? No, there is not any risk because the system is planned to eject the parachute with the engines in high position and in low position. Engines will turn off in a few seconds while Inspire 1 flight module will be out of control. Is it possible to deploy the parachute in an automatic way? Yes, release can be done automatic or manual according to the flight module connected to the ejection module. You can use an autonomous release module or a simple receiver linked to a remote-controller. With this setup, can I homologate my Inspire 1 for S3? Yes, because DJI Inspire 1 total mass in inferior to 4 kilos and the energy to the impact in inferior to 69 joules. Why is the rescue kit located at the bottom of the Inspire 1? In this position, you can face every case of failure while flying, while having engines turning on or off. It is not the case of a vertical ejection by the top : the parachute can be sucked up by the engines or the aircraft can fall in the parachute. Do Opale Paramodels parachute systems use any pyrotechnical elements or any gas? No, for safety reason, we did not retain this type of restrictive solution and that could be dangerous and problematic in case of transport of the DJI Inspire, but also to ease its reusing. System can be armed again without the need of spare parts. From what height the system shows its efficiency? In translation, the system has a 3m efficency, and vertically, it is efficient from 8 meters. How much time do the parachute need to deploy? Parachute deploys in 0,5 seconds. Once the parachute is deployed, in what speed the aircraft is going to go down to the ground, and what is the force of the impact? It depends of the total mass of the machine: in every case, this kit is planned to face the legislation in force. Is the parachute reusable? Yes, it can be reused a hundred of times in optimal stocking conditions. If I damage my aircraft despite of parachute deployment, what are the responsibilities of each? Damages to property and physical are parachute user s responsibilities. He is in every case responsible for its implementation and use. Do I have to do particular settings on my remote controller? No particular settings are necessary. In which matter are manufactured Opale Paramodels parachutes? Opale Paramodels parachutes use the same manufacturing standards as for the paragliders and ULM rescue parachutes, that warranties good performances and an optimal security and longevity. Can I use the Inspire 1 parachute kit at another purpose? Yes, it is possible to use this parachute kit on an equal mass machine. If I damage my parachute, how can I fix it? If your parachute is damaged, thanks to reach Opale Paramodels After-Sales Service. What is the mass of the kit? Will it affect significantly Inspire 1 flight time and its flight characteristics? The kit is very light (230gr) and has been specially developped for DJI Inspire 1, pilot will not feel any difference on the flight performances once the parachute is installed. Can the ejection system parts be damaged or broken at the impact time? If it can, does Opale Paramodels provide spare parts? Does the kit need an additional battery? For safety reasons, it is highly recommended to use a dedicated battery for parachute ejection. Can I install another parachute that the one provided by Opale Paramodels? In order to warranty a high security level, we disadvise to use a different parachute that he one included in the kit.. If my aircraft is equipped with such a system, can I fly anywhere? With or without parachute, you must respect the regulations relative to this activity in force in your country. In which matter is composed the parachute bridle? Bridle is composed of Aramid, commonly known as Kevlar, that allows to warranty a high level of tore resistance for the parachute. This model has a 60kgs tensile strength. What is the advantage of having a stack on the parachute? It allows to have a steady parachute while deploying and while descending, but also to optimize opening time. It is a technical process that proven on full-scall parachutes. Can I let the parachute folded when I don t use it? Yes, it is better to let it folded when you don t use it. However, think of aerate it and refold it before first use. Is it possible to use another servomotor instead of the one provided with the DJI Inspire 1 kit? You can use another servomotor if that one has the same specifications as the one provided with the kit. Does the parachute need a particular maintenance? It is advised to deploy and refold the parachute every month and stock it in a dry space, protected by the light.. Can I wash my parachute by the help of a washing machine? It is strongly disadvised to wash your parachute by the help of a washing machine. If you stained it or dirtied it, it is better to use a sponge with clear water and rub it delicately. If my Inspire 1 flips upside down during flight, will the deployment be efficient? Yes the system is planned to face every DJI Inspire 1 s position and situations while flying. 14 15
