During the Activity: Encourage kids to do what you do. Show them different ways to move or position their bodies and have them do it too. Make some movements harder than others. After the Activity: Introduce the Bible lesson. Before the Activity: Hey friends! Come on over and spread out. Make sure your hold your hands out to your side and can t touch your neighbor! During the Activity: Okay! I want you to watch what I do and then copy me. Ready? Can you stretch your arms up really tall and straight like a pencil? (Demonstrate.) Super! Now keep your hands stretched up tall and place your hands together. Now can you bring your foot up and rest it on your other leg? (Demonstrate.) Great job! Now, can you bend down and let your fingertips touch the ground? (Demonstrate.) You guys are amazing! This next one is going to be a little harder. Can you stretch your right arm out to the left and take the left arm under the right and rest it on your shoulder? (Demonstrate.) Wow! Okay, let s sit down. Can you stretch your legs out nice and straight? (Demonstrate.) Now can you stretch your hands to touch your toes? (Demonstrate.) Fantastic! (Continue with different stretches and moves as long as kids are interested.) After the Activity: You guys did a terrific job doing the different moves. Some of them were easy and some were kind of hard. In our Bible lesson today we heard how Jesus did something only HE could do. Do you remember what it was?

ACTIVITY 2 Can You Do the Impossible? Children will try balancing a stuffed animal on different body parts. What You Need: Impossible playing cards and a small stuffed animal for each child Before the Activity: Mix the Impossible playing cards up and place them in a stack face down. During the Activity: Give each child a stuffed animal. Draw the top card from the stack. Ask the children to try to balance the stuffed animal on the body part shown on the Impossible playing card. Continue drawing all of the cards and having the children balancing the stuffed animals on the different body parts shown. Repeat as desired. (To Simplify this activity for 2 s/3 s - Demonstrate for the children how to place the stuffed animal on their heads and walk around the open area. Allow each child to have a turn walking around with a stuffed animal on his/her head.) Before the Activity: Have you ever tried to do something that was just impossible to do? (Pause.) Like climb up a very high tree or balance something on your nose? We cannot always do things like that, but we can try. During the Activity: Let s see if we can do things that feel impossible to do. (Give each child a stuffed animal.) I am going to draw a card and it will have a body part on it. Let s see if you can balance the stuffed animals on that body part. It will be hard, but let s see if it is IMPOSSIBLE! (Draw card.) TOES! Can you balance the stuffed animal on your toes? (Allow the children to try.) Great try! Let s see what else we can try. (Continue as long as there is interest.) After the Activity: Nice job! Some of the body parts we could do but some were IMPOSSIBLE! We cannot do impossible things. But, today in our lesson, we heard about someone who CAN do IMPOSSIBLE things! Do you remember who it was?

ACTIVITY 3 Walking on Water Children will pretend to walk on water while practicing their memory verse. What You Need: Blue butcher paper and masking tape Before the Activity: Tape the butcher paper to the floor in the activity area. Make sure you sure enough paper to have a pathway for the children to walk on. During the Activity: Have the children walk on the blue paper and pretend they are walking on water. As they walk have them say the Memory Verse. After the Activity: Say the verse together as a class. Before the Activity: Do you remember our memory verse for this month? (Pause.) Great! Let s say it together! With God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26. FANTASTIC! During the Activity: Today in our lesson, Jesus did the impossible! He walked on water. We cannot walk on water, but we can pretend. (Point.) Here is our water. Let s walk on the water and say our Memory Verse. (Do activity.) After the Activity: Great job! Let s say our verse together one more time. With God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26. Perfect! Jesus is the only one who can do impossible things! Jesus can do ANYTHING! Who can do that? Only Jesus can do that!

ACTIVITY 4 4 s/5 s only Sink or Float Children will test several items to see if they sink or float in water. What You Need: A plastic tub filled about halfway with water; several small items that float, and several small objects that sink. Before the activity: Fill the plastic tub with water and place it in the center of the table. Gather your items and place them next to the tub. During the activity: Hold up each item and let the kids guess whether or not it will sink or float, and then try it out in the water to see if they are correct. **NOTE: Make sure you keep your eye on the children at ALL times when using water. Dump the water out of the tub as soon as you re finished with the activity.** During the activity: Today we re going to do an experiment. I need you to help me figure out which of these things will float on top of the water and which of them will sink to the bottom. Ready? Tell me what this is. (Hold up the first object.) Yes! Now do you think it will float on top of the water or sink to the bottom? (Pause.) Let s see if you re right. (Pause.) Look! It s (floating/sinking)! Let s do another one! (Continue as long as there s interest.) At the end of the activity: Tell me, what do you think would happen if a person tried to walk on water? Would they float or sink? (Pause.) You re right! A person would sink! Well, guess what! Our Bible lesson today told us about a time when Jesus really did walk on water! And He didn t sink! It s something only Jesus can do! Jesus can do ANYTHING! Who can do that? Only Jesus can do that!

ACTIVITY 5 4 s/5 s only Pin the Sail on the Boat: Children will play a game of Pin the Sail on the Boat. What You Need: Large Construction Paper Boat, Sails, Blindfold, and Tape. Tape the boat onto the wall. Explain to the children that they are going to be blindfolded, turned around and then they will have to try and put the sail on to the top of the boat s mast. Have the children stand in a line. Roll a piece of tape and put it on the back of each sail and give it to the children. Blindfold the first child in line. Turn the child around three times, then face him toward the boat. Tell him to walk straight and put his sail on the boat. Before the activity: Who can tell me about the Bible lesson we learned today? Who was in our lesson? (Pause.) Yes, Jesus and his friends. What were they riding? (Pause.) Yes, a boat. Maybe, it was a boat like this one on the wall. But the boat on the wall doesn t have a sail. (Point to the boat.) We are going to need to put a sail on it. To make it even more fun, we are going to try to do it without using our eyes. (Show the blindfold to the children.) Everyone is going to have a turn so hopefully one of us will place it in the correct spot. Are you ready for some fun?

CRAFT WEEK 3 May Week 1 Only Jesus Children will use crayons and blue tissue paper to create Jesus walking on water. What You Need: Walking on Water Activity Page and Jesus Silhouette cutout, glue sticks, and blue tissue paper During the Activity: Hand out the Walking on Water Activity Page to review the lesson. Talk about how Jesus walked across the water to the boat. Show kids how to glue the blue tissue paper to the bottom of the page and then glue the Jesus on the opposite side of the page from the boat. During the Activity: (Hold up the Walking on Water Activity Page) Let s glue our tissue paper to the bottom of the page and place Jesus on the page walking toward the boat. What is happening in this picture? Where is Jesus? (Pause.) Yes! He s WALKING on water! After the Activity: How could Jesus walk on top of the water? Did He have special floaties on his feet? No way! He could walk on water because Jesus can do anything. Could you walk on water? Could I walk on water? No way! Only Jesus can do that! Who can do that? Only Jesus can do that!

CRAFT WEEK 4 Walking on Water Children will use dot markers/paint to create Jesus walking on water. What You Need: Jesus Activity Pages, crayons, blue dot markers (2 s), blue paint (3 s/4 s/5 s), paint brushes, Dixie cups, painting vests, wet wipes and a sign notifying parents that children are painting today During the activity: Give each child a Jesus Activity Page and allow them to color Jesus. When finished, talk about today s lesson and ask the child where the water should be on their page and encourage them to paint it there. Set aside pages to dry. Before the activity: (Give each child an Activity Page and have them color Jesus.) Here is a picture of Jesus, but... uh-oh! I do not see any water! Can you tell me where the water is supposed to be? (Pause.) Yes, it is supposed to be right here. (Point.) During the activity: Can you please use the dot markers/paint to paint the missing water like this? (Demonstrate.) You can paint the water any way that you would like. You can make waves or very calm water. (Allow children to paint.) Nice job! I am so glad that you found the missing water! At the end of the activity: I love our pictures that show how Jesus walked on the water. You can show your family this picture and tell them all about today s Bible lesson. Can you walk on water? (Pause.) NO! Can I walk on water? (Pause.) Nope! Only Jesus! Is anything too hard for Jesus? (Pause.) Nope! Jesus can do anything!

SMALL GROUP Small Group Time What you Need: Parent Take Home Card, Blue Playdoh, Rolling Pins, People Shaped Cookie Cutters and Sticker Roll SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): Raise your hand if you like Playdoh. (Pause and raise your own hand.) I do too! Today, I have some really special cookie cutters we can play with. Can you tell me what shape they are? (Pause.) You are right! They are shaped like people! And look what else I have? (Pause.) Blue Playdoh! Remember in today s lesson, Jesus walked on the water. (Pause for responses.) Can you imagine what that would even look like? The disciples looked out, and there was Jesus, walking on water. WOW! Can we make Jesus out of these cookie cutters and add some blue water to retell our lesson. (Have each child make a Jesus figure with the people cookie cutters and help them add some blue water to walk on.) What would happen if you or I tried to walk on water? (Pause for responses.) Yes! We would sink! Walking on water is impossible, but Jesus can do what is impossible! That s why there are some things only Jesus can do. Who can do that? Only Jesus can do that! SGL: Yes, He can! Tell me again: Who can do that? Only Jesus can do that! Today we re going to make a list of things that we think no one could ever do things that seem impossible. (Go around and let all the children answer.) Those are some great answers and you know what? Jesus can do all those things! Remember when we learned that Jesus feed 5,000. He also made people who couldn t see, see, and made people who couldn t hear, hear and He came back to life after He died. Jesus can do anything! These are all amazing stories of Jesus doing the impossible. Only Jesus can do all of these things! Who can do that? Only Jesus can do that! Ok, it s time to review our lesson. I am going to ask you some questions and you will get a sticker for answering them. I have some really cool sticker today. Are you ready? (Pause) Great! (Ask the children the questions from the Parent Take Home Cards. You can also make up additional questions from our video lesson. Don t forget to ask them to say their memory verse for another sticker. You can repeat the same questions over and over as repetition is good for preschoolers.) You are such great listeners! Now I ll pray before it s time to say goodbye until next week. (Read the prayer on the back of the Parent Take Home Card. )
