Day 1. Arrival San Jose, Costa Rica Up on your arrival you will be awaited at the airport and a private transfer will bring you to the luxury Hilton Garden Inn Sabana; conveniently located in the center of San Jose close to the national theater, the central market, the gold museum and restaurants. Day 2. To Tortuguero Early in the morning, around 6.30 AM your English speaking Tortuguero guide will pick you up at your hotel. In an air conditioned bus you will drive through the forest of Braulio Carrillo and you might just see the Turrialba Volcano spitting gasses and smoke on a clear day. After one and a half hours' drive you will arrive at a restaurant where your Costa Rican breakfast is served. The route will continue along big banana fields until you reach the dock. The last part of today's journey will be by boat, so get your camera's ready for the wildlife you will encounter on this last leg of the trip. Upon your arrival at the Laguna Lodge it is lunch time and you can taste the delicious Caribbean dishes at the restaurant. Your hotel room will be deluxe; with an outside shower, A/C in the room and a private terrace and minibar. In the afternoon your guide will take you on a tour to the Tortuguero Village and he or she will tell you more about the National Park of Tortuguero and its inhabitants (animals and people). The rest of the afternoon will free be to relax at the pool, have a drink at the river bar or stroll around the lodge to find sloths, monkeys, toucans and other beautiful species until dinner will be served. As the turtle nesting season is from July September you can opt for a guided tour to see this in season; reservations for this tour can be made at the lodge. Day 3. Tortuguero National Park Today you will discover the Tortuguero National Park canals; you will get the most out of your Tortuguero stay and will see a lot of this overwhelming nature paradise and it s wildlife! Your nature guide will tour the boat trip so you will learn about the animals in their habitat. In the afternoon your guide will take you on another tour; an easy walk to discover more wildlife and explain you about the abundant nature. All gourmet meals are included during your stay, as well as coffee, tea, water and cookies. As the turtle nesting season was from July-September you might see the eggs hatch and the small baby turtles run to the beach a great experience to watch! Overnight; Laguna Lodge, Double Room Day 4. From Tortuguero to Arenal
It is time to leave the Tortuguero paradise after breakfast. By boat and bus you will head to Guapiles. Here your lunch will be served (included) and after lunch a transfer will bring you to La Fortuna, at the slopes of the active Arenal Volcano. Your deluxe lodging for two nights will be nested at the volcano, offering in-house Hot Springs and excellent service! As you come closer to La Fortuna you will see the perfectly shaped Arenal Volcano from a distance. For the next two night your hotel will be the deluxe and award winning Hotel Arenal Springs; a beautiful lodge and rooms with a private terrace and a great view of the Arenal Volcano. You can relax in the Jacuzzi, swimming pool, stroll around the lodge in search for birds, monkeys and sloths or just enjoy the wonderful view of the majestic Arenal volcano while relaxing in the in-house Hot Springs. Day 6. A day at the Arenal Volcano A lot to do here; you can opt for a guided tour on horseback, a visit to the Arenal Volcano National Park, a walk over the lava fields from the big eruption in 1968, a river rafting tour or a visit to the Famous Tabacon Hot Springs. We can include your favorite tours during your travels! Hotel Arenal Srings offers multiple restaurants but if you would like to eat out in the small town of La Fortuna we can recommend Don Rufino for fine Costa Rican fusion dining. Overnight; Hotel Arenal Springs, Junior Suite Day 7. From the Volcano to the Cloud Forest A shared transfer today to the Monteverde Cloud Forest driving to the Arenal Lake where you will the cross the Lake by boat. At the other side your onward transfer will bring you up in the Cloud Forest.. When getting close to Monteverde you will have great views of the lake, the valley and the coffee plantations. Your deluxe hotel for the night will be the well praised hotel El Establo Lodge.
The afternoon is at leisure and then we put in a special gift for you; a guided twilight walk; a great way to watch the nightlife in the cloud forest as the sun goes down (snakes, frogs, kinkajous, porcupines, tarantulas, sloths and sleeping birds you can encounter). After this walk you can get ready for your dinner; you can choose to stay in Belmar or take a taxi to the nearby village of Santa Elena you can have dinner in the excellent Treehouse; a memorable dinner in the top of a tree! Discover the Cloud Forest from above Today you can choose your favorite tour in the morning: you can swing through the treetops during a Canopy Tour (Zip-lining) or you can opt for a guided walk along the Hanging Bridges. More options include a guided walk through the Monteverde Reserve, a visit to the butterfly, frog- and hummingbird garden and a lot more you can do in this fascinating Cloud Forest. Day 9 & 10. To Rincon de la Vieja Volcano; Guanacaste A transfer after breakfast will bring you down from the Monteverde Cloud Forest to the Panamerican Highway; in the direction of Liberia in the Guanacaste province. A complete different habitat; the Tropical Dry Forest. This location is interesting due to many volcanoes; Miravalles, Tenorio and for sure Rincon de la Vieja. This volcano has a lot of geothermic activity and these geyser activities are to be seen by the boiling mud pools, coloured lakes and smoking craters. A wonderful National Park and great surroundings for a two night stay. You can choose your favorite lodging here; the Borinquen Resort of the hacienda Guachipelin; both are hidden in the forest and the lodges offer guided tours to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park; mud Spa s, pools and thermal Hot Springs. Day 11. Manuel Antonio To the beach; Manuel Antonio is place not to miss during your Costa Rica travels. A wonderful place with beautiful pristine beaches, a great National Park full of wildlife and up-scale lodging. En route you will pass by the Tarcoles river; the river with the biggest population crocodiles in Central America! You can see these big creatures from the bridge or you can stop for a boat tour here over the river and trough the surrounding mangrove. The drive along the Pacific Coast will take two hours until you reach the deluxe hotel Issimo Suites Issimo is for sure one of the best hotel here; excellent service and spacy guest rooms overlooking the Manuel Antonio bay and lush jungle. Day 12 & 13. Manuel Antonio Manuel Antonio is a place where you will not get bored. The beaches are breathtaking, The National Park full of sloths and monkeys and the sunsets are spectacular! If you like to add some tours we suggest a sailing tour aboard a catamaran to spot the dolphins and sometimes even whales, snorkeling, food and drinks included; a great way to spend your afternoon! Surfing, deep sea fishing or diving are other options for water lovers, but if you like to keep it dry you can just relax at the beach and enjoy all amenities of your deluxe Issimo Suites. Day 14. Corcovado Around 7 AM a transfer will be at your hotel to bring you in about an hour to Sierpe. At 11 am your boat leaves for the scenic route along the Sierpe river, into the rivers mouth and over the Pacific Ocean to reach the luxury Copa de Arbol Lodge. A cocktail and lunch will welcome you in the lodge and you can get comfortable in your deluxe room. The afternoon is at leisure to use the stand-up paddling equipment, the kayas, to explore the private paths or to just sit back and enjoy the wonderful setting of Drake Bay and the luxurious Copa de Arbol. You will for sure be astonished by the natural beauty and the diversity of wildlife; monkeys, sloths, ant eaters, armadillos and a lot more you can encounter just around the lodge! Day 15. Corcovado National Park Waking up in the middle of the jungle will be a real experience as you will probably be awaked by howler monkeys, singing birds and the waves hitting the shore. A breakfast will give you your energy for the day in which you will visit the Corcovado, San Pedrillo or Sirena National Park for a guided wildlife hike! You will for sure have a lovely day in the national park, see a lot of wildlife and have a romantic time at this beautiful lodge. All gourmet meals will be included and you can use the kayas and the stand up paddling boards to explore the coast line. Don t forget to enjoy the sunset! Overnight: Copa del Arbol, Luxury Cabina
Day 16. Cano Island Another day at the luxury Copa de Arbol; and you will make another tour; Cano Island; for a full day of whale and dolphin watching, snorkeling and a walk around the deserted island; true paradise! A day to relax and for sure enjoy as this is your last night in the Costa Rican Jungle! Overnight; Copa de Arbol, Luxury Cabina Day 17. Flight to San Jose A scenic flight will bring you back to San Jose today. At the airport your transfer will be waiting to bring you to the Hilton Garden Inn for your last night in Costa Rica. If you want to self-drive we can change this for sure; just let us know so we can calculate your estimate price; but from San Jose Tortuguero and to and from Corcovado a self drive is not possible as these areas are only reachable by boat or airplane. If you want to use private transfers between locations we will have to add a surcharge. Reservation Process When we designed your prefect trip and you are ready to book the tailor made tour we will make all reservations on your behalf; hotels, lodges, rental car, tours, guide and other services. We will keep you informed during this process; in the unwanted situation a hotel is fully booked we will find an alternative lodge for you; only with approval! When all is set we ask for a down payment for a ¼ of the total sum and the rest is due to be paid 6weeks before the start of the tour. Payments per bank transfer are without any extra fees; if you wish to pay by credit card on our merchant PayPal account we will have to charge a small fee of 3% to cover some of the costs. At this point all travel information will be sent to you in digital format; complete with country information, tips for what to pack, location information and more. Up on arrival at the airport you will be awaited by our representative and you will get a welcome envelop containing a Costa Rica wildlife card, a Costa Rica map and for sure a welcome letter.
