WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF BARBEQUES GALORE OUTDOOR COOKING INSTRUCTIONS For The Safe Use And Enjoyment Of Your New Side Burner and/or Folding Shelves If you also purchased a Cordon Bleu barbeque, these instructions are included with the barbeque manual. Its simpler to follow the barbeque instructions right through instead of using this manual. Cordon Bleu side burner and/or folding shelves Code:MC2CDFSL or MC2CDFFL Tools required: 2 adjustable spanners 1 phillips head screwdriver

Congratulations On Your Purchase Thank you and congratulations for choosing this quality side product as part of your outdoor entertaining world. By following these instructions for safe and easy operation, you will enjoy years of satisfying, troublefree outdoor cooking. And when you re fully up and running, you can visit your retailer for some great accessories and cooking tips to make your experience even more rewarding. r rst... Please skip straight to Step 1 if you did not purchase a side burner. Safety First IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A SIDE BURNER Australia has an excellent safety record when it comes to gas appliances. This re ects both the high quality of appliances sold, as well as growing consumer awareness about safe practice. We urge you to follow the guidelines below together with these instructions for safe use, to prevent overheating and to produce great cooking results. The side burner is an outdoor appliance only. Under no circumstances should it be used indoors. The side burner has not been approved for marine use. Do not perform any servicing on the side burner yourself. This includes internal adjustment of the regulator and gas valves. Servicing can only be carried out by authorised technicians. It is important that you install your side burner exactly as described in these instructions. In particular you should keep the side burner clear of combustible material, and you should check for leaks whenever a new connection is made. Do not store chemicals or Do not place articles on or against, or enclose this appliance. The side burner gets extremely hot while in use. Keep children away from the appliance until it has cooled to normal temperatures. It is a good idea to tie back long hair and loose clothing while cooking in case of unexpected ups. NEVER leave a side burner unattended with the burner on. Always switch off all barbeque burners and cylinders when the appliance is not in use. Follow all manufacturer s instructions to periodically check for gas leaks. 2

Where To Put Your Barbeque Most importantly, you must observe the clearances listed on the data sticker on your barbeque. It will tell you how close you can put the appliance to combustible surfaces (wood, gyprock, trees, wooden fences etc). If you don t follow these clearances, there is a chance that nearby surfaces will heat up and catch If you purchased your barbeque in a cart, you don t need to be concerned with side clearances. The barbeque-cart combination has been laboratory tested, and complies with relevant Australian Standards. Keep the barbeque and side burner sheltered from the wind. Wind interferes with the flames and can prevent your barbeque or side burner from heating up properly and can even damage some components. Make sure the surface is level. This is safer, and makes cooking easier. Don t put the babeque or side burner too close to windows or anywhere else where cooking smoke is likely to cause problem. Putting Your Side Burner In An Enclosure This appliance must only be used in an above ground, open air situation with natural ventilation, without stagnant areas, where gas leakage and products of combustion are rapidly dispersed by wind and natural convection. Any enclosure in which the appliance is used must comply with one of the following: Any enclosure with walls on all sides, but at least one permanent opening at ground level, and no overhead cover. Within a partial enclosure that includes an overhead cover and no more than two walls. Within a partial enclosure that includes an overhead cover and more than two walls, the following shall apply: At least 25% of the total wall area is completely open; and At least 30% of the remaining wall area is open and unrestricted. In the case of balconies, at least 20% of the total of the side, back and front wall areas shall be and remain open and unrestricted. 3

Assembling Your Side Burner Checking The Gas Type IMPORTANT! Before assembling the side burner, you should ensure it is suited to the same gas type as your barbeque. Check the gas type sticker on both your barbecue and side burner. If your barbeque or side burner is suited to LPG, it should have a red printed sticker on the side saying UNIVERSAL LPG ; you should ensure your side burner has a similar red printed sticker. If your main barbecue is set up for natural gas, it should have a white sticker on the side saying NATURAL GAS ONLY. In this case, your side burner will also need to be converted for use with natural gas, using the conversion kit (part no. NGCJCDB) available at your nearest Barbeques Galore store. Gas type conversions must be done by a licensed gas tter or authorised service agent. It is extremely dangerous to use the barbeque with the wrong type of gas. Fire or explosion may result. These instructions cover the assembly of a side shelf and side burner to the Cordon Bleu L-series range of barbeques. It is important to note that this side burner attaches only to the right side of the barbeque. These instructions illustrate a right handed side burner connection. STEP 1: Prepare For Assembly Start by unpacking the side burner, and placing it on a smooth, surface. Be careful not to damage the stainless steel or enamel If there is any protective on the side burner, it should be removed at the end of the assembly process. Remove and thoughtfully dispose of all packing materials. STEP 2: Check You Have All The Parts MC2CDFSL 4 x 30mm long screws (2 for each folding shelf) 7 x 15mm short screws 1 x pair of side table bracket sets (2 for each folding shelf) 2 x locking nuts and bolts (2 for each folding shelf) 1 x side shelf + 1 side burner or 2 x side shelves 4

Assembling Your Side Burner STEP 3: Attach The Folding Side Shelf Brackets WHAT YOU NEED 4 x 30mm long screws Remove these screws Remove the 4 screws on the left side of the barbeque as shown. Screw the side table bracket sets to the left side of the barbeque using 4pcs 30mm long and the 2pcs STEP 4: Attach The Side Shelf Attach the side shelf to the left side of the barbeque as shown. a. Hook the vertical shelf into place Lift horizontal position 5

Assembling Your Side Burner If the folding feature is not required, the shelf can be securely locked into the horizontal position using the locking nut and bolt as shown. WHAT YOU NEED 2 x locking nuts and bolts (2 for each folding shelf) If you have 2 side shelves (no side burner) repeat for the other side. 6

Assembling Your Side Burner STEP 5: Attach The Side Burner (if purchased) WHAT YOU NEED 7 x 15mm short screws Remove the 4 screws on the right side of the barbeque as shown. Screw 6pcs * 15mm short screws into the right side of the barbeque as shown. Do not screw in all the way leave a 5mm gap to allow you to hang the side burner in the next step. Remove these screws Attach the side burner to the right side of the barbeque as shown. The keyhole shaped holes in the side burner t over the screws which were used in the previous step. Push the side burner over the screws and then press the shelf downwards until the screws lock into the narrow part of the keyhole. The shelf should now line up neatly with the barbeque. Tighten the six screws. 15mm short screws Use 1pcs 15mm short screw which was removed from the barbeque in the previous step, and thread it through the side shelf and back into the front corner hole in the barbeque control panel as shown Note: This view shows underneath the side shelf. Follow the next steps to connect the side burner to the gas supply. 7

Connecting The Gas STEP 6 Connect the corrugated gas pipe The side burner corrugated gas pipe will already be connected to the side burner.you need to connect the other end to the barbeque. a. Remove the grease channelling tray and use two spanners to disconnect the cap from the manifold outlet (one spanner to hold manifold, the other to loosen the cap) Take out the tray Disconnect the gas tube cap IMPORTANT: Use a spanner to tighten are caused by connections which are only hand tightened. Before turnning the gas on, refer to your barbeque instructions for directions on leak test and general gas safety. c. Connect the corrugated pipe to the manifold, using two spanners ( one spanner to hold the manifold, the other to tighten the pipe fitting ) b. Thread the corrugated pipe from the side burner through the bbq as shown Connector the ripple pipe to the barbecue. d. Adjust the corrugated hose so that it is neat and out of the way. Side burner to barbeque connecting corrugated pipe Side Burner Trivet Open the lid of the side burner. Push the longer prongs of the trivet into the holes in the side burner body. The trivet should sit securely in place without moving. 8

Connecting The Gas Leak Testing Before proceeding, it is important that you leak test all gas line s and connections on the barbeque. Make sure all the barbeque and side burner control knobs are OFF. If you have a portable gas cylinder, turn the cylinder ON by rotating the knob anti-clockwise. If you have a wall connection, ensure the bayonet tting is connected. Spray or pour soapy water (about the same concentration as washing up water) along the gas line including: The gas connection at the inlet of the barbeque and side burner The gas hose or copper piping or corrugated pipe, including any joints or bends in the piping. The gas connection at the gas cylinder or the wall connection. If bubbles appear, there is a gas leak. If the leak is at a connection, tighten and retest. If the leak is anywhere else, or if you cannot resolve the leak, do not proceed. If you have a portable gas cylinder, turn the gas cylinder off and consult your retailer. If you have a bayonet connection, remove the hose from the wall ting and consult your retailer. You can also check for leaks using a gas safety gauge, available at your Barbeques Galore store. This provides an easier and more convenient way to check for leaks. 9

Lighting Your Side Burner Lighting The Side Burner Light the side burner in the same way as for your main barbeque Make sure that the gas is turned on at the cylinder, or that gas is available to the barbeque. Also, ensure the side burner lid is up whenever the side burner is in use.. Automatic Ignition: Push the knob IN and turn anticlockwise to the HI position. Hold the knob in until the burner ignites. You may need to push and turn the knob several times before ignition. Manual Ignition: You can light the side burner manually by holding a lit match next to the burner, then turning the burner control knob to HI. If You Hav HI LO OFF If the burner doesn t light rst go, return the knob to the OFF position and try a couple more times. If the burner still does not light, turn the burner OFF, wait a few minutes to allow the gas to disperse before trying again. If satisfactory operation cannot be achieved, consult your retailer before proceeding. Note carefully: Failure to follow the lighting procedures correctly can lead to a hazardous condition. Turning Off To turn the side burner OFF, it is best to turn off the cylinder rst, and allow all the gas left in the hose to burn off. This will only take a couple of seconds. Then turn OFF the burner controls. If your barbeque is connected to natural gas or piped LPG, you can simply turn the burner controls OFF. It s okay to leave the cylinder connected to your barbeque while it s not in use,but keep the cylinder valve turned OFF. Note carefully: Failure to follow these shutdown procedures correctly can lead to a hazardous condition. HI LO OFF Controlling The Flames The knobs have three basic positions: OFF, HI and LO. You can achieve any height between LO and HI by rotating the side burner control knob between these positions. OFF HI LO burner on high OFF HI LO burner on low 10

Maintenance Cleaning Your Side Burner Your side burner will look better and last longer if you keep it clean. Follow these simple steps. The Burner: Occasionally the burner holes may get clogged with grease or food particles. Leaving the burner on HIGH for a maximum of 5 minutes with the lid open after you ve cooking will remove most of this. However, you should check the burners periodically for any sort of blockage. In particular, you should ensure that the aeration vents are free of insect nests and spider webs. To clean the burner turn it OFF, let it cool down, then inspect it. Remove the burner if necessary. If any of the holes are clogged, gently tap the burner onto a hard surface to remove residue. Use a wire brush to unclog the holes. Then lightly coat the burner with canola oil for ongoing protection. The Side Burner Body: Grease can build up on the body of the side burner Simply clean it off with hot water and detergent. Do not use oven cleaner as this will damage the surface coating. Stainless steel requires extra care. See the notes below. How To Care For Stainless Steel Even though stainless steel is remarkably resistant to tarnish and rust relative to ordinary steels, it still needs proper care. We recommend the following: After use, clean the stainless steel surfaces with fresh water and a soft cloth. Where light cleaning is needed, a commercially available stainless steel cleaner with a soft cloth should be used. To repair minor tea staining or pitting, you can use a light, non-metallic scourer. It is important that you rub with the natural grain of the stainless steel surface to avoid leaving visible scratch marks. Use 3M stainless steel cleaner available for your local Barbeques Galore store to polish and protect all stainless steel surfaces. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the can. Do not use while the side burner is on or still hot! Between uses, it is a good idea to leave the barbeque and side burner covered to prevent dust and air borne salts settling on the stainless steel surfaces. If left for too long, these particles can act as rust centres. With a small amount of care, your investment in quality stainless steel will keep its beautiful as its value for a long time to come. as well Servicing Your Side Burner Follow the same servicing schedule as the main barbeque. Remember to turn 0FF and disconnect the gas before any maintenance is carried out. If your barbeque uses a hose to connect to the gas, check the rubber O-ring on the regulator end of the hose assembly at least once a year. If it appears worn or cracked, have it replaced. We recommend having your barbeque and side burner checked by an authorised service agent every 5 years. This is to ensure there are no leaks and that all components are still functioning correctly. If you use a portable LPG gas cylinder, you will need to have the cylinder serviced or replaced every ten years. The date of the last service should be stamped on the neck of the bottle. As you can see, it s easy to keep your barbeque and side burner in great shape so it can give you years of trouble free enjoyment. 11

Maintenance Replacing The Corrugated Pipe If there are any signs of wear or cracking in the side burner pipe, you will need to replace it immediately. Ensure you replace it with the correct part purchased from Barbeques Galore to ensure proper gas connection compatibility. Connect the nut of the corrugated pipe to the gas inlet on the right side of the barbeque. You MUST use two spanners to tighten it properly. Do not use sealing tape. The connection is designed to seal properly without it. Perform a leak test as explained in the installation section before using. Replacing The Burners Occasionally you will need to remove the burner for cleaning or adjustment. To replace the burner, lower the inlet of the burner through the cutout at the top of the side burner body. Place the open end of the burner over the gas jet at the front of the side burner. Then, screw the tabs on the stem of the burner into the side burner body. Ensure the igniter wire is re-connected. 12
