Travel to Cabin Ridge, where draft horses will transport you through wooded acres on a century-old farm to lunch in a gaslight cabin. The afternoon drive will take us though the heart of America s Dairyland to our home for the night in Wisconsin Dells. Tonight dinner with entertainment will cap our day off in a great way. Meals: B, L, D Day 3 - Tue, Aug 7 Duckboats Lakeside Relaxation Start the day on one of the famous Dells Army Ducks for a guided tour through Wisconsin Dells famous rock formations. Water has been carving gorges, rocky islands, and towering cliffs for 14,000 years here in the Dells Glacial Park. Afterwards, we turn north and travel to an area with more lakes than anywhere else on the continent. A trip to Wisconsin in the summer wouldn t be right without a night spent on the shore of a lake. Wild Eagle Lodge is nestled on the forested edge of the world s largest inland chain of lakes. A lodge with character from a previous century, created to embrace nature, aromatic pine air, sparkling clear water, and brilliant night skies. Split Rock Lighthouse, Two Harbors, MN Day 4 - Wed, Aug 8 Cranberries Cruises This morning we ll depart the Wild Eagle Lodge and travel through lake country to Manitowish Waters. Here we ll take time to visit with a local cranberry grower. The trail then leads us to the shores of Lake Superior and our home for the next two nights in the Port City of Duluth, MN. Our location in Canal Park is the perfect place to watch ships from around the world as they pass under the world-famous Aerial Lift Bridge. Tonight dinner will be served aboard the Vista Fleet. We ll learn about the harbor, Duluth s history, the science and ecology of Lake Superior, and enjoy the panoramic views of the North Shore and the largest freshwater lake in North America. Meals: B, D Day 6 - Fri, Aug 10 Trolleys Theatre Our journey turns to the South today. Traveling through central Minnesota, we ll hear stories of the lumbering, mining, and farming history that gave birth to the North Star state. We ll arrive in Stillwater, the oldest town in the state, and climb aboard a restored Trolley for a narrated trip around town. Situated on the shore of the St. Croix River, a National Scenic Waterway, this is a great place to scatter for lunch and browse in the many antique shops located here. Afterwards we ll travel to our lodging near Minneapolis. The evening dinner plans include a memorable theatre production at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, the largest professional dinner theatre in the United States. Weaving in and out of the forest, we ll make our way to a scenic stop at Gooseberry Falls. The scenery will become more rugged and dramatic as we drive past waterfalls, thick forests, and striking cliffs. Perched right on a cliff with a breathtaking view over Lake Superior, Split Rock Lighthouse awaits us. Afterwards, we ll return to Duluth for a free afternoon. One option for you is a visit to the Marine Museum to learn about Great Lakes shipping. Or, climb aboard the steamer William A. Irvin to explore the ship and see what life was like sailing the Great Lakes. Canal Park is also filled with great restaurants and shopping opportunities, all within easy walking distance of your hotel.
