Washington DC Unit Region 2 Unit 170 PRESIDENT S LETTER Linda Moore Hello Members and Affiliates, How is Everyone this winter? Boy have we dodged a huge bullet here in New England. I know you all, in the Mid-Atlantic region have been hit hard! I am really thankful we were spared after last winter, we had three 36 + snow storms in as many weeks. So I really felt bad for you all during that storm. I can t believe we are into February already. It makes me smile to think our first rally of 2016 is only eleven weeks away. Speaking of the CKR/Maintenance rally, John DiBella has been working hard and talking with the campground. They aren t ready to take reservations yet but will be soon. I will send out a separate email to all when they are ready and how to get in touch with them. They are really anxious for us to camp there this April. I have been receiving deposits for the Monticello rally. I look forward to this rally and love the area. Contents: -Presidents Letter -New Years Rally -2016 Rally Schedule -Call of Hosts -Join/Renew Info -Officer List -Airstream Market -Links -One Moore Thing -Rally sign up flyers On another note on the Finger Lakes rally, there is updated information about the camping fee and a brochure is on the end of this newsletter. The nightly camp fee is $44.57 instead of the $80 originally stated on the website. They do require an $80 deposit is to reserve. The rally fee will be separate. The Spring Rally is coming together, according to Michael. Marietta House is happy we will be rallying there again. This year it will be in conjunction with a wine festival!! Hmmm, what isn t to like about that. More about that when a brochure is available. As I get brochure information, I will be adding to the newsletters or sending out separately. I can t complain about the weather but I miss camping. I look forward to seeing you all when the spring flowers start peeping out of the ground! There was an impromptu rendezvous for New Year s in the DC area. This report from Nick Iverson Winter camping in the Washington DC region???? Well, this year we had perfect weather for getting out and to do some camping. Several members from the WDCU created an impromptu get together in order to celebrate not only the bringing in of the New Year, but also the monumental milestone of 35 th wedding anniversary for Greg and Lori Wilson on 12/31/2015. The gathering was at Cherry Hill Campground in College Park for the rare opportunity to have a little winter time (more like spring weather) fun camping in the DC area. If you have never been to this campground, it is a perfect location for touring the DC since it has a metro bus stop at the entrance and a metro train station within a couple miles. The campground is a huge space with great amenities so you don t even need to leave to enjoy the time. THANKS NICK! Capital Times Vol 16 Issue 8 November 2015 Page 2
