UPDATED DECEMBER 27, 2014 William Wilson Putman of Blount County Alabama Near as I have been able to guess, this particular Wilson might be a son of William and Winnie Putman. He was born in North Carolina. Wilson was born about 1815 and his wife Susan Hullett about 1816. They appear in the 1840 census of Rutherford County North Carolina with a young son and daughter. In 1850 they were in Benton County Alabama and in Blount County Alabama in 1860 through 1880. Based on the ages and birthplaces of the children, it seems that the family left North Carolina in 1842 or so and went to South Carolina for about two or three years and then to Georgia by 1846 and finally to Alabama by 1849. After 1880 I do not find either Wilson or Susan. The following are the children and where they were born: CHARLOTTE PUTMAN born February 1, 1839 in North Carolina. She married William Thomas Cornelius on July 20, 1856 in Blount County Alabama. He was born November 15, 1834 in Blount County and died there February 8, 1905. Their children were: Cynthia Catherine Cornelius born April 1, 1859 in Blount County and died there December 11, 1933. She married John A. Blakely February 22, 1879. He was born in Blount County March 4, 1857 and died there March 16, 1930. They had seven children. Serina Elizabeth Cornelius born November 24, 1866. She married Elias R. Bynum in Blount County June 28, 1885. He was born in Blount County in December 1861 and died in Elkhart, Anderson County Texas in 1841. Serena had died there August 9, 1938. They were in Henderson County Texas in 1900 and 1910 and Anderson County in 1920 and for the rest of their lives. They had 5 children. There is a family group sheet on Ancestry http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/10505342/person/710470405 Christopher Columbus Cornelius born May 1, 1868 in Blount County and died there December 11, 1945. He married Sarah Ann Ryan there March 1, 1888. She was born in Blount County April 3, 1867 and died there May 6, 1895. They had 3 children. He then married Hester Barnes September 25, 1895. She was born in 1877 and died in 1896. There were no children. He then married Nancy Viola Thompson in 1897. She was born in Madison County Alabama December 25, 1876 and died in Blount County April 25, 1948. They had 10 more children. There is an overall family group sheet on Ancestry at http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/10505342/person/710470406 George Washington Cornelius born in 1870 in Blount County and died in St. Clair County Alabama August 7, 1946. He married Nellie Rena Brothers in 1909. She was born in Alabama January 25, 1890 and died in Etowah County Alabama September 20, 1948. The family sheet is http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/10505342/person/710472195 JOHN THOMAS PUTMAN born in 1841 NC. He married Martha Jane Stafford in Blount County on October 31, 1861. He seems to have died in the Civil War as in the 1870 census, as his son John is shown living with his parents. Also in 1870, Martha Jane is shown back living with her mother Lucinda Stafford in St. Clair County Alabama. Young John is listed there as well in the 1870. In 1880, Martha is shown in Ellis County Texas and is remarried to George Parnell. Her son John then 17 is with them. They moved to Texas in 1871 and she married William Ross Pannell here November 7, 1875. They are here for the rest of their lives. William will die February 15, 1917 and Martha Jane on November 5, 1929. The only son was: John Morgan Putman born June 23, 1862. His middle name may be Monroe. He is with his mother in 1870 in St. Clair County Alabama. In 1880, he is with her and her new husband William Parnell in Ellis County Texas.
