Plans Heat Up for Shangri-La Fund Raiser October 24-29 Membership dues do not cover all our expenses and our donations to support local charities, so we are trying something new - using Shangri-La Campground, on the Greenway near Ocala, as a site for a club fund raiser. This will be a Fun Packed Weekend, and Triple B s Fund Raiser. We will have: Guided trail rides leaving at 9:30 am BBQ pork butt dinner Saturday night- Bring a dish to share. Costume Contest on Saturday- (Bri C.) Saddle Fitter from J&J Tack Weight Scales- (No! it s for your Horse!) hopefully! Corn Hole Contest (Kathy S. and friends) Weenie Roast Thursday Silent auction Fri night (save up your contributions) Painted Rock hunt (Kathy S.) Poker Ride - Sat morning (Nancy A, and Frank P.) There will be more challenging rides: #4 red trail, Red Horseshoe trail, or longer rides to the Land Bridge. People wanting to volunteer to help with any of these activities or if you have an idea for something fun to do, please let us know. The club has reserved the entire campground, which can only accommodate 45 rigs, so its first come first served RSVP. Two rigs will be assigned to each site and only 17 sites are left at this time. A confirmation email with your site number will be sent when your donation is received. Pick 3 open sites in order of preference from this list: 1a,b; 5a,b; 7a,b; 8a,b; 9b; 10b;14a,b; 16a,b; 19a,b; 22b. Send a check for your non-refundable donation, $120 for the 4 nights (Wed thru Sat), or $60 for 2 nights (Fri and Sat) then give us your top three choices for a campsite by number and your total rig length. We will try to give you your first choice. But money talks, so no reservation

will be taken without a donation. Other clubs have been invited and it is open to the public, so make your reservations soon because the campground is filling up fast. Mail in your check made out to Triple B and site preferences to Triple B Riding Club, PO Box 6313, Brandon, FL 33508. Temple Terrace July 4 Parade The club rode in the Temple Terrace 4 th of July Parade again with 6 riders, and 3 walkers. Afterward, 20 people met under the oak trees for lunch sponsored by the club under the watchful eye of Debi Alfieri. The parade is a low-key event, and about two miles long (mostly in the shade), and the organizers have been very encouraging to Triple B, and helpful with accommodating the horses. The spectators at the parade really enjoy seeing the horses, riders, and walkers. The next parade is going to be the Christmas Parade in Brooksville on Saturday, December 8. If you would like to ride in the parade please contact Cathy Moore at 813-677- 9291, or at triplebrider@yahoo.com You don t have to ride a horse, walkers are always welcome to join the parade. Gus Trent Rodeo- August 25 th, at the State Fairgrounds Entrance Fee: $15 for Adults, and $10 for kids. Triple B is donating money for 10 kid s tickets. Gus Trent will give donated tickets to the schools, churches, etc., that are going to bring some kids who might not otherwise attend the rodeo. Triple B Riding Club Meetings Soon to be on the Internet for Members For the first time we put the meeting online during the August meeting. It was a test session and a limited number of members were invited to try it out for us. Tammy Bradley was successful and joined us via internet for our August Trail Ride Planning Session. Tammy said the video was clear, and the audio was good, though at times a little hard to hear (probably due to folks that are sitting further from the microphone), and there was a lot of background noise. Tammy had great insight on our Trail Rides for the 2018-19 season with some good thoughts from our rides in the past. Others like Dana and Debi had issues logging in but thank you for your feedback. So please be patient as we will have a learning curve here. Trail Ride Planning will conclude at the September 10 th monthly meeting. Our next online meeting will be in October. With the thought that folks that live further away will join in and our Snow-Riders (seasonal residents) will be able to watch while still at home and start to make plans to come ride and camp with us soon! Triple B Members will need to download the Zoom App for free, for your viewing device, AND you will need to send an email to triplebrider@yahoo.com so we can send you an email invitation to the event as this online service will be for Triple B Members Only! Please MUTE your device unless you are addressing the group. New Members We welcomed in two new Triple B members: Cherie Leporatti, and Marilyn Whitford. We look forward to seeing you on the trails and at Triple B functions. (They did tell y all the new members get to pick up the Apples didn t they??? Good reason to bring some friends to be New Members!) Do welcome our new members and help them meet people and meet your horses. Looking forward to making new stories!

Be Involved In Your Club Help Shape the Future Triple B is YOUR Club. Equestrians are reminded of the need to be involved and to work together for the good of all equestrians, now and for future generations. There is a real need to organize equestrians to work together to preserve public lands, horse trails, facilities and more. Equestrians seem to be a loose knit group that prefers to do their own thing, while other clubs, such as cyclists, hikers, kayakers, backpackers, hunters, campers, etc. are much more organized and have lobbyists and lawyers representing them in government. Equestrians need to do the same and be sure to attend public meetings about trails and public lands and make sure that equestrian use is included at the planning stage or horses will be forgotten while other organizations that attend government meetings and are more vocal will be included in the planning. Get involved now or get left out.

Triple B Riding Club P.O. Box 6313 BRANDON, Fl. 33508 Triple B Riding Club Leading the way for future generations on Florida trails! Triple B Riding Club s first recorded meeting was November 7, 1964. Prior to this date, informal meetings and trail rides were held in the geographical areas of Boyette, Balm, and Bell Shoals. Hence the name Triple B Riding Club. Membership consisted of 15 members who gathered to mark trails for horseback riding with family friends. Today Triple B has a large dedicated membership that reaches to every corner of our state and beyond. Today Triple B works with state, county, and federal water management stewards, helping to propose, mark, and maintain equine trails for future use. Without volunteer teams, trails in Florida would not be what they are today. As a member of Triple B, you can take pride in saying you are a part of the Oldest and the Best Riding Club in the State of Florida.
