Knowing to take advantage of the weather, everyone decided to have happy hour outside by the coaches. Soon the topic of the afternoon became what to do for dinner, (do we like to eat, or what?) Everyone quickly decided that not cooking or cleaning up was a great idea and we headed to the Chihuahua Mexican cantina in downtown Ferndale. On Friday morning we all awoke to another sunny day. This was a free day to explore the area on their own. Some went hiking and exploring, some to the Farmer s Market and some just checked out the Ferndale town. Dee Jobe and Gordon Mau joined everyone that afternoon for socializing, drinking and our meeting at the club house. Later the hosts providing the hamburgers and fixings for dinner, with everyone else bringing side dishes and dessert. There was enough delicious food for an army, and no one went away hungry. Saturday was the start of the annual Whatcom Studio Tour. Most of us spent the day visiting various artists in their workshops. There were more than 30 to choose from and most were in the Bellingham area. We were able to view various art mediums, chat with the artist s, watched them at work and, of course, have the opportunity to buy some of their unique art pieces. Others went to the Raptor Center. Prior to dinner we all met for happy hour in the Simmons coach and then had dinner at Dimitris Greek & Italian Restaurant. Both the food and service were wonderful. Sunday morning we met in the clubhouse for a breakfast of juice, eggs, bagels and cinnamon toast and along with some more visiting. Several of us then decided to stay on to watch the Seahawks make us proud again, prior to heading home. Tom and Cheryl Rodewald, hosts www.sanjuanderers.org
