MAY 2006 The Hillholder Volume 31 Issue 5 May 2006 The sikes reminded us what southern hospitality is like A pouring rain just before the meeting didn t stop 30 plus from delighting in the warm hospitality of Marvin and Carolyn Sikes at their home in Duluth. What a beautiful home it was, great food and great cars. Their garage stocked with beauties from the past including a Thunderbird, Jaguar, and, of course the Sikes two Studebaker beauties were the highlight for us Studebaker fans. We liked them all, however. A beautiful fountain graced the entryway to the Sikes home in Duluth. The Sikes host May. Treasurer Chuck Lampman visits with Dan & Barbara Miller at the May meeting. Meeting at the Sikes's Goldfish the size of large catfish has most the colors of the rainbow. P AGE 2 T HE HILLHOLDER Our June Chapter Meeting to be held at THE ELLIOTT RESORT, Fayetteville, GA (See Map on Page 4) Tom and Maureen Elliott are hosting the June 4 club meet at their home in Fayetteville. Catered barbeque and the fixings for $10 per person. Bring folding chairs, bathing suits and towels (if you want to swim after the lunch and business meeting). They need an accurate headcount for the caterers, so please RSVP either via e-mail: maureen.elliott@nelsonmullins.com or call 770/460-1727. This is their first official shindig to show off their new pool so please feel free to allow your kids to swim but YOU MUST SUPERVISE THEM as Maureen and Tom will not be able to play lifeguard! Park your Studebakers on the front lawn to show them off to the neighbors. Tom will, once again, be directing traffic. There are also two driveways for parking, so there should have plenty of room. Directions : I-75 South to Highway 85 exit (immediately after 285 exit) Stay on Hwy 85 through Riverdale into Fayetteville. As you go through town, you will see the clock tower on left -- keep going straight. After you pass the Kroger Towne Center shopping center (on left Chick-Fil-A, Kauffman Tires, Blockbuster, on right Publix, WalGreen, Starbucks) - turn left at light - Hwy 92 South. At next light, turn right (still Hwy 92S). Stay on Hwy 92 until you get to caution light. Turn left (Hi-Lo Road). Hosts: Tom & Maureen Elliott Studebaker Flock and parts for sale in Chatsworth, GA My Father passed away in August of 2005, and left the family with several Studebaker cars and trucks. Along with these are several extra doors, fenders, hood and parts that could be used to fix up other cars and trucks. There are also new parts that are in boxes that have never been opened. Parts like window channels, air conditioners, bearings, generators, glass for doors on cars or trucks, tie rod ends, front end parts, just an assortment of parts for cars and trucks. Dad brought the Studebaker parts home My Father and Uncle were partners back in the mid 70 s when they went out of business. Dad brought all the Studebaker parts home with him. These parts have never been used, they have been in storage, and he also had two (2) cars in storage one is a 56 President almost restored, and a 53 Coup which the restoration process has just barely been started. There is a 64 Silver Hawk under a shed, all original. There are also two (2) Larks and three (3) trucks. There are several doors, fenders and hoods of all kinds for Studebakers. We also have several engines; flathead 6 and v-8, the 259 and 289 s. cams, heads, oil pans, etc. There are several axels, rear ends and just an assortment of parts for all types of Studebakers. DUES CAN NOW BE PAID BY PAYPAL ($16) TO CHUCK@LAMPMAN.COM Telling time is no problem at the Sikes clocks, clocks... Too many cooks spoil the broth, or barbeque, or what was it? Here are Rick Kamen and Don Smith offering little advice. Our website has the location of all the upcoming meeting schedule: www.studebakerclubs.com/ northgeorgia. How many helpings? Serve them up, says Ray Downing in the Sikes parlor.

Not only are they active in attendance, they also have brought two splendid Studebakers to add to our gallery. Marvin s Hawk is a perennial show winner and now Carolyn is going to be tough competition with her new beauty. The nice thing about the Sikes is that they show their cars. That helps build enthusiasm for the potential new Studebaker family out there who haven t discovered what we already know about this fine car. Too few of us are showing our cars, thus too few are seeing the unique styling that made Studebaker famous. We are on the web: www.studebakerclubs.com/ NorthGeorgia/ Birthdays & Celebrations Birthdays: Marty Comstock 6/21 Terry Smith 6/24 Paula Martin 6/30 Anniversary: Frank & Beverly Petru 6/9 Map to Tom and Maureen Elliott s house in Fayetteville, GA. Meetings always start at 2 p.m. but many like to arrive around 1:30 to take a look at the Studebakers that some members drive like this beauty below now owned by Carolyn Sikes.
