HALF PRICE SUNDAYS ON THE TRAM The January sales are set to extend to Nottingham s tram network at the start of 2016, with half-price travel being offered to tram users on four consecutive Sundays during the month. On Sunday, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 local residents and visitors to Nottingham can take the opportunity to explore the recently expanded tram network with adult day tickets being reduced from 4 to just 2. Jamie Swift, NET Marketing Manager, explained: Following what we expect to be our busiest ever Christmas period, we wanted to thank our regular customers for their enthusiastic support of the new network and also encourage even more people to discover the benefits of travelling around Nottingham on the tram. As well as discounted travel, customers will also be able to take advantage of over 5,000 spaces across our 7 park & ride sites and avoid the expense of city centre parking. The half-price tickets will be available to buy from all tram stop ticket machines by selecting the adult day ticket option and customers must buy one before they board the tram. As usual, the family friendly 5 for 5 Group Ticket will also be available on each of the Half Price Sundays, offering unlimited travel on the tram for two adults and up to three children. THUMBS UP FOR BUS AND TRAM INTERCHANGE Bus and tram passengers have given a thumbs-up to the new bus and tram interchange in Beeston which opened earlier this year. The new interchange is an on-street transport hub with two tram stops and six bus bays and has been developed over the last decade in consultation with local bus operators and modelled on Strasbourg s bus and tram interchange -- considered a model of excellence for transport integration. It features high-quality glass shelters, real time information, journey planning information and electronic ticket machines to purchase Kangaroo integrated transport tickets and tram tickets. After six weeks of full operation the County Council carried out a passenger survey as part of the Beeston Statutory Quality Bus Partnership monitoring. The survey gave respondents the chance to make further comments which the County Council can share with partners Broxtowe Borough Council and NET to make further improvements. These are very encouraging results for passenger satisfaction and safety, as well as travel behaviour and usage, said Coun Kevin Greaves, chairman of the County Council s transport and highways committee. The new interchange is a fantastic new facility for Beeston and makes it easy for passengers to swap between buses and trams, giving people more public transport options than ever before.
