Following the NDC in Charleston, SC, the Region 14 Chapter will host a Friendship Tour to Charleston s sister city, Savannah, Georgia. Savannah is steeped in not only British but Civil War history and of course is the setting and inspiration of the novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. We invite you to come and experience the charm and southern hospitality of our region. The Friendship Week tour will depart Charleston immediately following the NDC, October 6 th and will return to Charleston on Tuesday, October 10 th, 2017. We will stop for lunch in Beaufort, SC then travel on to Savannah where we will check in to our hotel in the historic district for 4 nights. Tonight we dine at the famous Pirate s House. (A D T) Saturday, October 7th Breakfast this morning at the hotel, then Kelly Tours Trolley picks you up for a narrated tour of Savannah s historic monuments and squares. The rest of your day is free to explore Savannah on your own. You may visit the shops on River Street or Broughton Street, where Leopold s Ice Cream shop is located. Take in a show at The Savannah Theatre, or just relax at your hotel. (A B E) Sunday, October 8th After breakfast, join your group and head to Tybee Island where you will take a guided walk on the beach to learn about coastal Georgia s tides, the dunes and wildlife that live in and around the ocean. We then hop on the bus to stop at The Crab Shack where you will enjoy a seafood lunch with an island atmosphere. Following lunch, come aboard Capt. Mike s Dolphin Tours and watch the bottle-nosed dolphin play in their natural habitat. The fun loving, aquatic mammals are the most intelligent of creatures next to man and are unusually friendly. They frequently come right up to the boat. We then return to land and the bus will take the group to Ft. Pulaski made a national monument in 1924 by President Calvin Coolidge and rehabilitated by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930 s. Explore the fort and surrounding area before returning to your hotel. Dinner on your own this evening. TRAVEL INFORMATION TRAVEL INFORMATION: We have described the day-to-day itinerary, at this stage, in as much detail as possible. The itinerary serves solely as a model and The Best Tours reserves the right to maintain flexibility in the itinerary to take advantage of local events, weather, and other timely considerations. The Best Tours reserves the right to make changes in itinerary sequence, hotels, excursions or activities as may be required. Such changes are not grounds for withdrawal with full refund. The Best Tours is not responsible for any expenses related to flight delays or missed connecting flights. TRIP FEES INCLUDE: All services as specified in the itinerary description. TRIP FEES DO NOT INCLUDE: Passport fees, air fares, travel insurance, tips and expenses incurred during free time periods. PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS: Passports are required to enter the USA. Passport processing time can take anything from 6 weeks to 3 months. If you do not have a valid passport ensure that you apply for a passport in good time. If you are already in possession of a passport ensure that it is valid for at least 6 months after the date you return from your trip and that there are three blank pages for any stamps or visas. Rooming Preferences Single Rooms Single hotel rooms can be quite small. It is possible to guarantee a larger room by paying extra to have a double or twinbedded room for single occupancy. There will be a single supplement attached. Twin or Accessible Rooms If you require a twin-bedded (a room containing two separate single beds) or accessible room, please be sure to request this as they are limited. Dietary Requirements Menus these days are designed to include vegetarian options. If you have special dietary needs, however, please let us know. TERMS & CONDITIONS ENROLLMENT AND PAYMENT Please complete the attached registration form and send it to The Best Tours LLC. Enclose your $200 registration deposit, per participant. Your deposit is non-refundable. The balance of your tour will be billed as follows: half of the balance due will be billed and payable 120 days prior to commencement of the tour (June 9 th 2017), the remaining balance will be billed and payable 60 days prior to commencement of the tour (August 7 th 2017). REFUND POLICY Your deposit is non-refundable. It is recommended that you purchase travel insurance and cancellation insurance is available upon request. If a participant withdraws no later than 45 days before the departure date, he/she will receive a refund of any payments made after the receipt of the non-refundable deposit. If a participant withdraws less than 45 days before the departure date, he/she forfeits their full payment. The Best Tours and its associates may cancel the program due to unforeseen operational difficulties, lack of projected availability or other reasons. If the trip is cancelled by The Best Tours, a full refund will be made within 28 days of notification of the cancellation. The Best Tours reserves the right to refuse any registration when all land space is full, or after booking deadlines. If a registration is refused, the deposit check will be returned immediately. There is no provision for refunds for meals, accommodations, transportation, or activities missed by participants for reasons of absence once the trip has started.
