Notes from Directors, Chairpeople, Members, and Facebook From Barbara Veal: See me at meeting to join Hoof Prints for 2018, just $5! From Carole Kowitt: Fractured my leg on April 20th and have behaved myself, so I am riding again. First 2 hour ride was July 20th. I was ecstatic and exhausted. Thank you all for your support and good wishes. From Andrea Cotey: Please come by and pick up your membership and mountain cards at our next meeting. From Kim Merrick: LNT/Basic skills class BCHW has a long tradition of educating members and the public at our Leave No Trace Basic Skills Classes. Many of these classes were funded with the help of RTP Grants. The past classes demonstrated to hundreds of people how to enjoy their outdoor adventures to the fullest while using minimum impact techniques for humans and stock. Missing the last few years, we are excited to be offering another Skills Class at Pilchuck Tree Farm, Arlington WA, on September 14, 15, 16, 2018, hosted by Cascade Horse Club. This is the perfect opportunity for new members to start learning about Leave No Trace practices and for established members to hone their gentle land use strategies. Join us Friday evening for a potluck dinner. Classes start after a provided breakfast on Saturday followed by classroom education with a break for lunch and more informative hands on classes, dinner and campfire activities. Early Sunday starts with breakfast and follow up information.. Dry camping is available, horses are welcome but there will be minimum riding time with the exception of Sunday afternoon, Pilchuck Tree Farm will ask for a $2.00 donation used for trail maintenance. Most BCHW Chapters will will help members cover the $50.00 class fee that covers printed material and 5 meals. For registration info contact: Sue Ward 206 618 2098 josuward@msn.com From Kathy Talbot: Would like an extra grill at the September 8th, Saturday evening Steak dinner. Please contact me if you can bring yours! Page 3 of 10
