Recreation Facilities Guide 2004 Shasta-Trinity National Forest abckdvjw TRINITY SHASTA SEASON OF USE Most recreation sites within the Shasta-Trinity National Forests are open from May 15 through September 15. During the remainder of the year, some sites may be kept open as needed or as weather permits. Recreational facilities that remain open will offer reduced services. Some water systems are turned off during the winter months. LENGTH OF STAY Camping at improved campgrounds is limited to the maximum number or days posted at the site (generally no more than 14 days). Camping outside of improved campgrounds (dispersed camping) is limited to thirty (30) days within a one (1) year period, starting with the first day of occupancy. FEES Family Campground fees range up to $26 per day, depending on the types of services offered. Group campground fees range from $30 to $90 per night. Fee listings for individual campgrounds are available upon request. There is a $5 extra vehicle fee at Tannery, Hayward Flat, and Alpine View on Trinity Lake, and at all the campgrounds on Shasta Lake. PETS Pets are allowed in the recreation areas unless posted. DISPERSED CAMPING Generally, dispersed camping is allowed outside of developed sites within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest unless otherwise posted. The exceptions to this are within the Trinity National Recreation Area. On Trinity lake, camping outside of developed sites within 1/4 mile of the high water mark from Wyntoon to Jackass Springs is prohibited unless otherwise posted. On Lewiston lake, camping is prohibited within 1/4 mile of the high water mark with no exceptions. GOLDEN AGE AND ACCESS PASSPORTS If you possess one of these passports, you will be entitled to a 50% discount on use fees with the exception of fees for group camps. You will be required to show the passport when you arrive at the campground.
