A video slide-show was created showing some of the events worked the past year. You may view the video by going to YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xubudjmx0pu A sincere Thank You to each and every Auxiliary Officer for your profound dedication and service to the Oshkosh Police Department, and the citizens of Oshkosh! Celebration of Lights Detail: Our second year of providing weekend evening security for this yearly civic event was completed on December 27th. Auxiliary Officers began the 2014 season on Friday October 31st and worked each weekend through the close of the display on December 27th. 18 Nights were worked 36 Shifts were manned (1st Shift = 9:00 PM Midnight. 2nd Shift = Midnight 3:00 AM) 13 APO s participated 243 Total hours were worked No major incidents were reported, no damage to the displays occurred. Thank you to all APO s who volunteered your time during the busy holiday season. Working the extensive amount of hours required by this event was a challenge. Special recognition must be given to two APO s who went over-and-above the call, working a tremendous amount of hours over the course of the event. Auxiliary Officer and FTO Matt Kirby worked 81 hours. Auxiliary Officer and FTO Shawna Russell worked 66 hours. Thank you for making this a very safe and secure event! Thank You Notes: I received the following message from Lieutenant Steve Weyers: Thanks to you and all of your people for the hard work performed over the holiday season. As the Lt. for East Zone your services are especially helpful each year in more ways than just the Celebration of Lights Please pass along my appreciation to all of your staff. Have a great 2015! I received the following message from Sergeant Eric Stenson: On behalf of dayshift, thank you and all that worked the Celebration of Lights event. We truly appreciate everything that you all do for our PD and the community. We wouldn t be able to do it without all of you. Page 2

Thank You Notes Continued: I received the following message from Sergeant Matt Harris: I want to pass on a Thanks to Alex Williams for his work at the Turkey Trot. I sent out the Action Plan a couple of days before the event. I got in at 3:00 AM on Thanksgiving, and Alex was also getting in. Apparently on the Action Plan, there was a spot that said he was to start at 3:00 AM. This was a copy and paste error on my part. In 2013 Alex s spot was assigned to a CSO and they worked a 3:00 AM 11:00 AM shift to help with set-up. I apparently missed that change for the 2014 Action Plan. Nevertheless, Alex was here and indicated that he would help with set-up. Alex helped with setup from 3:00 AM 7:00 AM and then worked the detail from 7:00 AM 11:00 AM. I really appreciated Alex s understanding and even more his help that day. Personnel: Congratulations to Auxiliary Officer Justin Donaldson and his wife Julie on the birth of their Son, Robert Harris Donaldson. Robert was born on December 11, 2014 at 9:14 AM, weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches. This is Justin and Julie s second son, along with William who is 2-1/2 years old. Our best wishes to you and your family! APO Robert Yerges has recently been experiencing some medical issues. Tests are being conducted to determine a possible cause and course of corrective action. We all wish Robert a speedy recovery! APO Mark Tharnish has advised us of a change of address. His new address is: 2240 Brookview Court, Unit F Oshkosh, WI 54904. Please make note of this change APO Zack Rashid has submitted his resignation from the Unit. Zack indicated a job move will relocate him out of our area. We wish Zack the best-of-luck with his future endeavors. Page 3

Oshkosh Auxiliary Police Meeting Minutes November 12, 2014 Meeting was held in the OPD training room with 24 officers attending. Two new officers were introduced. Eddie Wick and Zack Rashid. Welcome to the unit. Deputy Chief Footit presented a summary of the Ricin call-out and the logistics of the event. A letter of recognition and thank you from Mark Roloff, City Manager, was read. Officers signed up for new details. Reminder of the Christmas Dinner was given by Capt. Youngbauer. Meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted by Sgt. Mary Knudsen, Secretary Oshkosh Auxiliary Ranking Officer's Meeting December 17, 2014 Meeting was held in the Erickson Room at OPD. Attending were: Chief Suess, Deputy Chief Footit, Capt. Youngbauer, Capt. Gutche, Capt. Schroeder, Lt. Pappenfuss, Lt. Schouten, Sgt. Knudsen, Sgt. Winkler and Sgt. O'Bright. Lt. Oestreich was excused. A review of the 2014 details showed 3510 hours and 276 details worked as of the end of November. That is a noticeable increase from 2013. A discussion on the Celebration of Lights event resulted in the decision not to work that event if asked in 2015 due to the duration and hours involved. A discussion on providing security for the explorer s campground at Country and Rock USA resulted in considering not doing it and concentrating on the pedestrian traffic only. Deputy Chief Footit will be discussing it with OPD Sgt. Harris. A discussion on the issues at the ONHS and OWHS football games involving the middle and elementary school students resulted in proposing not to work the those games in 2015. There are no issues at the Lourdes games. Chief Suess will be sending a letter to appropriate individuals regarding that and asking for further discussion before making a final decision. A review of donations from organizations we worked for was presented by Chief Suess. A discussion on several lack of donations by some resulted in the decision to eliminate working three events. Audit Committee is done with the audit. Events for 2015 were discussed and it was presented that our unit was requested to work the overnight security, day security and traffic/parking for Battle on Bago Feb. 25-28. That will require 6-9 officers per day. It was agreed to take on that event. Deputy Chief Footit will work with the organizers on the specifics of responsibilities. Page 4

Child Abduction Response Team (CART) was discussed as to whether or not our unit should be involved. It would involve officer training. If interested, contact Deputy Chief Footit. Review of the Bike Team indicated that it is operating well and will continue with several events. Discussion on various personnel issues was held. Meetings will continue to be on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Anniversary Dinner will be April 18th. Christmas Dinner will be December 12th. Summer meetings will continue to be at South Park. Ranking Staff meetings will start in January and meet every other month on the 3rd Wednesday of that month. Meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted by Sgt. Mary Knudsen, Secretary Event Reminders: 1) The OIC of the event should always call dispatch and advise them of the event being worked. The OIC should always make a request for dispatch to monitor the frequency. When the event is completed, the OIC should again inform dispatch. 2) When making contact with an individual at an event, be mindful that it is always good practice to have a second APO with you if you feel the contact may result in disruptive behavior. Never place yourself at risk. Next Ranking Officer Meeting: January 21, 2015. 5:00 PM Oshkosh Police Department, Erickson Meeting Room Agenda: Sgt. Harris will make an initial presentation of the CART program Next General Meeting: February 11, 2015. 7:30 PM Oshkosh Police Department Training Room Page 5
