At Exeter International we have been creating memories and crafting our trademark extraordinary journeys to Central Europe, Russia, Scandinavia, and Central Asia for over 25 years. Our specialty is to distill the best of the best in iconic places that are on so many people s travel must-do list. We are not a call center of nameless, faceless people. We do not try to be everything to everyone. We are a small team of specialists. We are all committed to providing the best travel experiences to our destinations. Each member of our team has travelled extensively throughout our destinations, giving them insider knowledge lacking in many other tour operators. Our Extraordinary Experiences are different, unusual, and often closed to the general public. We can offer special insider access that takes you beyond the typical tourist sites. We know how important it is to remain authentic and increasingly going beyond the well-known sites is what is important to our guests discovering the little-known museum or street market that adds to their experience. We do this through our local knowledge, cultivating our extensive contacts and regularly visiting each destination to enable us to share the most up-to-date insider information with you, our valued partner. The most important part of your trip will be your guides. Guides come in many quality levels, especially in our part of the world. We have worked with a core group of the best of the best for over 20 years. We know them like family and if they weren't the best, they wouldn't work for us. Simply stated, a guide can make or break your experience. You should have 100% confidence in who is introducing you to your guide and the level of guiding that you are going to get throughout the countries you will be visiting. The best does indeed cost more and we pay our guides at the very top of the market, with pride. You'll also want to know what kind of vehicle your tour will include. We use luxury late-model vehicles, often Mercedes, Audi, BMW, or Volkswagen, depending on the size of the vehicle you need. You'll want to see things that may or may not be open to the public and go in early or after hours before the crowds whenever possible. We also make every effort to skip lines whenever possible. Avoiding long museum lines is one of our top priorities and we work hard to minimize the wait time to get into the most popular sights in each city, maximizing your time in each destination. You'll want impeccable planning and someone to bounce ideas off of before your trip and speak English as well as you do while planning your trip so there are no cultural misunderstandings when you arrive. You'll also want someone to talk to if your trip is not perfect when you get home. These are all ways that we distinguish ourselves from all other companies. A lot goes into our travel program design. We arrange the program so that it is flawless and effortless for our travelers from the time they set foot in the first city until they leave us. The expertise to set up an itinerary like this comes after years of investing in staff on both sides of the Atlantic, and this too is a value that is incorporated into our traveler's trips with us.

Arrival into Berlin, where you will be welcomed by our guide and met by your driver for your transfer to your hotel in the center of the city, Mitte. The largest and most modern of the Central European capitals, Berlin has reinvented itself since reunification into Europe s powerhouse city. Each area has its own unique character, from the historical heart in Mitte to the hipster center of Kreuzberg. With over 80 museums from contemporary art to WWII history, and the outstanding Berlin Philharmonic now joined by the Frank Gehry designed Pierre Boulez Saal concert hall high culture predominates. In the evening, you will enjoy a Welcome Dinner at Käfer in the Reichstag and tour the Dome. The Reichstag was built in the late 19 th Century to house the German Parliament. The building was badly damaged by fire, and renovations did not start until well after the end of the Second World War in 1957. As part of the rebuilding, the dome and most of the ornaments on the facades were removed. The latest rebuilding project began in 1995 transformed the Reichstag into a modern parliamentary meeting hall with an elliptical dome. This morning, we will depart the hotel for a private pre-opening visit to the Pergamon Museum, a short walk from our hotel. The museum has a fabulous collection of ancient art, sculpture and even architecture. The museum is also home to the impressive Ishtar Gate from the ancient city of Babylon, dating back to the 5 th century BC. We will also see the monumental Gate of Miletus, an outstanding example of Roman architecture from the 2 nd century AD. Please note that the Pergamon Altar Hall is closed for reconstruction until 2025. Afterwards, continue with a walk with our guide along Unter den Linden. Berlin's magnificent boulevard and the centerpiece of the Old Berlin, Unter den Linden leads from the Schlossbrücke Bridge to Pariser Platz at the Brandenburg Gate. You will see the renewed beauty of the Pariser Platz. The new buildings which have been added to this historic square are based on their historic forbearers. This area was originally a parade ground. Noble villas, embassies and the luxurious Hotel Adlon arose around the square, which was then destroyed in the Second World War. You will also see the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin s only remaining city gate and a symbol of the city. Situated as it was in the no man s land just behind the Berlin Wall, it also became symbolic of the division of the city. After some time for lunch, will be welcomed by the American Embassy, located on Pariser Platz at the top of Unter den Linden, to view the significant art collection that includes works by Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. Return to the hotel and enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure. Optional: We can arrange tickets for a concert at the Pierre Boulez Saal this evening. Inquire for details. This morning, meet our guide and driver for your visit to the Neue Synagogue. The synagogue was first inaugurated in 1866 and features the oriental-influenced architecture that was popular at the time. The synagogue was heavily damaged by Allied bombing in World War II and was essentially demolished in 1958, except for the front façade and entrance. In 1995 it was reopened as a museum showing the history of the synagogue and of Jewish life in Berlin. Today it serves at the Jewish Center and the museum is also renewing its permanent exhibition. We will be met by Dr. Chana Schütz, curator and alumni of the Hebrew University. Later, our guide will take you on a walking tour of the immediate area, one of the most vibrant in Berlin, and full of Jewish history. We will see the site of the first Jewish cemetery where Moses Mendelssohn was buried and the Jewish high school named after him. We will also visit the Museum of Otto Weidt s Workshop for the Blind. Known as the Schindler of Berlin, this museum will introduce you to the efforts of Otto Weidt to protect his Jewish employees from persecution and deportation. He employed mainly blind and deaf Jews who produced brooms and brushes. Enjoy some free time in the area to shop and have lunch on your own. In the afternoon, you will enter one of the most famous apartments in Berlin that of Erika Hoffmann. Once per week she opens their apartment for viewings of part of their personal art collection and today you will have the opportunity to visit this unique space privately. The pieces displayed in the apartment change annually, and whatever you see will be thought provoking. The exhibition occupies two floors of a renovated factory building that Erika bough with her husband Rolf so they could expand and live with their collection, which was their passion. After Rolf s death, Erika continued collecting and has now decided to gift the entire collection to the city of Dresden, where it will slowly move over the next five years. After the tour, you will be transferred back to the hotel for an evening at leisure. Vehicle, Driver & Guide (8 Hours) Breakfast Regent

This morning, meet our driver and guide who will transfer you to East Berlin. You will first drive by Checkpoint Charlie. After the building of the Berlin Wall in 1961, the checkpoint remained an official crossing point until the reunification in October 1990 when the booth was removed, and the watchtower was later destroyed. The course of the former wall is now marked on the street with a line of bricks and a copy of the booth and sign that once marked the border crossing was later erected where Checkpoint Charlie once stood. Next, you may stop by the East-Side Gallery. This is the longest cohesive section of the Berlin Wall. This stretch of the Berlin Wall has been painted by various artists after the fall and it stretches for a mile or so. We recommend that you walk a bit and explore some of the different subjects portrayed. Continue the tour with a visit to the Topography of Terror. This indoor/outdoor museum on the site of the former headquarters of the Gestapo and SS is an essential visit. After the war, the original buildings were destroyed and razed to the ground. Later, the Berlin Wall border between East and West was exactly at this location and 200 meters of the Wall at Niederkirchnerstraße which marked the border between the districts of Mitte (East Berlin) and Kreuzberg (West Berlin) have been preserved. Along the wall is the outdoor portion of the museum that documents the rise of the Nazi Party and its rule in German politics. The indoor documentation center was opened in 2010 and houses the permanent exhibition: Topography of Terror: Gestapo, SS and Reich Security Main Office on Wilhelm- and Prinz-Albrecht-Straße and temporary exhibitions. Afterwards, our driver will transfer you to KaDeWe where you can enjoy lunch independently in the food hall. The rest of your afternoon will be at leisure. Vehicle, Driver & Guide (4 Hours) Breakfast Regent

This morning, depart Berlin with our driver and guide and make your way to Potsdam. Today we will have a private tour at Neues Palais, located on the grounds of Sans Souci. This is plain on the outside but has a fantastic collection of art inside, including Italian Renaissance masters and Flemish and Dutch Baroque. After the visit, our driver will transfer you to the Dutch Quarter in Potsdam for lunch and some time to explore independently. Later this afternoon you will visit Cecilienhof Palace, the historical venue of the Potsdam Agreement. Built in the style of an English country manor, this was the family home of the Hohenzollern dynasty after they lost the crown. Today we will see the rooms used by Churchill, Truman and Stalin as they discussed the partition of Germany. This historic event led to the division of Europe by the Iron Curtain and consequently, the construction of the Berlin Wall. Afterwards, return to the hotel and enjoy your evening at leisure. Vehicle, Driver & Guide (8 Hours) Breakfast Regent

Enjoy your morning at leisure. In the afternoon, meet our driver and guide for your visit of Berlin s Holocaust Memorial, which opened in May 2005, the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. The location is directly behind the Hotel Adlon. The memorial commemorates the Jewish victims of Nazi terror and consists of approximately 2,700 concrete slabs arranged in a grid pattern on unevenly sloping ground, symbolizing an undulating graveyard. You are able to enter and walk through the field of slabs from all four sides and you will experience the wavelike form differently from each position. This moving and solemn memorial contains the names of 4.4 million murdered Jews. Don t skip the information center located underground. The Memorial Documentation Center will be closed, so you will be able to enjoy a private visit. In the evening, our driver and guide will transfer you to the Neues Museum, where we will enjoy a private afterhours tour of the David Chipperfield-designed Neues Museum. Here you will find the famous bust of Nefertiti in her stunning new environment. This museum also houses a large collection of Egyptian art and artifacts, as well as, pre- and early-history collections. Afterwards, we have arranged a farewell dinner at the Brasserie Gendarmenmarkt. Vehicle, Driver & Guide (4 Hours) Breakfast & Dinner Regent

This morning after check-out, your driver will meet you in the lobby of the hotel for your transfer to the airport to catch your onward flight. Departure Transfer Breakfast
