CHAPTER DIRECTORS AL & CATHY NIGHSWANDER Well, time marches on, and it appears that 2018 is in fast step. Chapter B members are revving their motors with several warm up events. Some couples attended Cabin Fever 2018. What a great weekend of friendship, games, entertainment and relaxing. Deb Parks was a 2 nd place winner in euchre, and the table center piece creation won 3 rd place. Gage showed his eagle-eye skill at the M&M cornhole toss, and several enjoyed finding the clues for the M&M caper. Cabin Fever will return to Mohican State Lodge for 2019 and the theme will be NCIS. The dinner rides in February to Varsity Grille and Perkins in Ashland were well attended. Susan Kennedy and Rich Faeth flew back from Arizona to celebrate Robbie Kennedy s 90 th birthday. March will roar in for Chapter B. At the February meeting we begin in earnest to prepare for Buckeye Rally 2018. After plans comes the work. The theme of the rally is Swingin into the 50 s. We discussed on- and off- bike games. We have several really terrific game ideas and need the details planned so that they are ready to go. (We need your help!) Another discussion was decorations and Carol Culler, Karen Bland, Mary Bash, and Cathy will make some preliminary decisions so that construction can begin. Larry and Karen Bland contacted Marion Correctional; they have a community service project team that may be available to help with some of these decorations. (Wanna help?) We also discussed the rides for the rally and many ideas were given. Chapter G-2 Chili Cook-off is March 17; Chapter V has their Spaghetti dinner and Auction on March 24 th. These sound like good times, and good food and a time to promote the rally!! Ted is planning for the ARC and TRC course that will take place in Galion on May 19 and 20. Start shining those bikes because the Richland Mall Chapter B Bike Show is set for May 5 and 6. Al and I would like to thank all who offered input into the discussions. It is important to us that the chapter events and participation be a reflection of the whole chapter and not just a few. The Chapter officer s team will have a meeting at the Bland home on March 12th. If you have suggestion and/or concerns please contact a team member so that we can find answers at the meeting. 2

ASSISTANT CHAPTER DIRECTORS MIKE & CHERYL FINLEY Hello to everyone, don't worry summer is almost here. It s time to get our bikes ready and start planning some rides and trips. the grand kids. Cheryl and I are hoping to make a few out of state trips, one to Gettysburg, as well as a few local (in state) trips with It s also time to start thinking about the mall show and more importantly the Buckeye Rally. We are going to need a lot of help this year at the Buckeye Rally with the guided rides; we hope some of you will step up and lead a ride or trail a ride. The Staff will also need help with decorations for the fairgrounds and campsite. We think we have a few good ideas for both, but it would be great to get some input from all of you. I hope that everyone is as excited as Cheryl and I are about this summer s riding and camping season. Hope to see all of you at the next meeting. Mike & Cheryl ASSISTANT CHAPTER DIRECTORS JIM & CAROL CULLER Hi Folks: We have had some really cold weather this winter and quite a bit of snow and ice. However, the middle of February brought warm, rainy weather. There was a 70 degree day on February 21 st with a lot of motorcycles out on the road. Gage got to go for a short ride that day and thoroughly enjoyed it. I m sure we are all ready to ride, but we need to check over the bikes first. Safety comes first. It s not too early to think about our Auction that is held in May. Start now to collect items that you feel are worthy of purchasing. And, all you bakers could bake something to sell on that day. You know how we are; we love our baked goods. We were very sorry to hear that Larry Steinhilber is having some health problems and was in the VA Hospital in Cleveland having a 3 hour operation. The cancer was contained to the Prostrate and was removed. We understand the doctor instructed him not to drive; however he didn t feel the doctor included motorcycles since he didn t mention them. We re glad he will be home soon. Send Cards to Larry at: 5544 Co. Rd. 57, Galion, Ohio 44833. 3

DINNER RIDE COORDINATORS LARRY & KAREN BLAND HAPPY ST. PATRICK S DAY! Thanks everyone who has been attending the Chapter supper rides. Attendance has been great and so has the food. The next dinner ride will be; Thursday, March 22 at 6:00 P.m. at Ralphies on Portland Way in Galion. Saturday, April 7 we will go to Der Dutchman on Rt. 97 in Bellville. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. You have a choice of the buffet or order off the menu. Thursday, April 26 we will go to Backroom Bar & Grill on Laver Road in Mansfield. We will be eating at 6:00 pm. This is one of the reasons you joined GWRRA and Chapter B and knowing the more members who participate the more fun we will have! Hope to see everyone soon. Larry & Karen \2018 COUPLE OF THE YEAR DON SCHROEDER & DEB PARKS Hello fellow Gold wingers. Hope you all had a great Happy Valentine s Day. FUN, FUN, FUN. What a fantastic time we had at Cabin Fever 2018 held at Mohican this year. Deb and I and 6 other couples and Gage were able to attend the function. We all had a great time spending time with each other and with other GWRRA members from around the state and some from Michigan and some from Indiana. They had some really fun games to play, some good food and the staff at the park was great too. Deb and I were able to participate in the Family Feud game held on Friday night. Deb won second place for women euchre tournament held on Saturday. If you have never been able to attend a Cabin Fever, if for nothing else, go for the talent/no talent show. Several chapters put on quite a show. Lots of fun and laughter had by all. After closing they had a live auction. Carol Culler put together a Fun tin including a scrumptious looking peach pie, several different kinds of cookies, hand towels, a candle and some other things. Deb and I had in our minds that we would purchase the peach pie. The funds from the live auction go to the state organization. Well, the bidding got quite fierce. After a LOT of fun, the basket ended up going to Michigan for a final bid of $325. Everyone enjoyed the auction. 7

We are looking forward to the Buckeye Rally coming up here in June. Our chapter is hosting and will be needing many volunteers. Please help us all out in preparing for the function. See you all in April, we are off to Arizona. This Chapter is like a big family and we re blessed to be part of it. Live Life, Stay safe Deb and Don NEWSLETTER EDITORS JIM AND CAROL CULLER Hi Everyone: Before you know it, the Buckeye Rally will be here. We do have a lot of work to get done. In the meantime, we can enjoy each other s company by attending the well planned dinner rides and any other activities we have going on. Larry and Karen are working very hard to give all of us a variety of places to eat. They have been doing a fantastic job of finding new places and calling the restaurants ahead of time. Please take time to participate, as they are doing this for our enjoyment. That is true of any Chapter Event that is scheduled. Our chapter is so close, more like family, that participating just ensures it s future. SEE YOU SOON, JIM AND CAROL SUNSHINE LADY BARB HOWARD Hi Folks: Our prayers go out to Joyce Strutz and her family in the loss of her brother, Ronald E. Gene Hencye on February 8, 2018. Our prayers are with Larry and Debbe Steinhilber while he is recuperating from his surgery. How about a little Irish jokes. Thought you might enjoy these: What do you get when you cross poison ivy with a four-leaf clover? A rash of good luck. Why can't you borrow money from a leprechaun? because they are always a little short. Why don t you iron 4 leaf clovers: Because you don t want to press your luck. How is a best friend like a 4-leaf? Because they are hard to find and lucky to have. 8

MEMBERSHIP ENHANCEMENT BONNIE LANTZ It is hard to believe March is here. The last couple of weeks have been cool out here. We missed water volleyball all of last week because the air temp was too cool, water was just fine, but when I had to stand up to serve, way too much of me was up out of the water and the wind was always blowing. We have only missed one of our Thursday Bike Rides caused by a rainy day. I was invited to co-ride with one of my and Jerry's friends and was told to pack my riding gear to bring. I told them that it was already packed, you know, just in case. We rode to Kitt Peak two weeks ago and to Tombstone last week. I had been there 3 times, but we had new people who had not been there yet. I still managed to find things to take pictures of. You know me. Not sure where the ride will be this week yet. I found a place that I am going to go see before I come home this year. It is called The Wave, on the Utah, Arizona border near a town called Page. I posted a picture of it on my FB page. I figure the trip will maybe be on my way home because of it being north where there might be snow. If there is still snow up there, I will come out earlier next year, but I will see it. I am not sure if I told you that without our friends out here, well, I guess I should say, my friends, I would not have made it to Arizona this year. I had trouble hiring someone to bring the camper out. My friends started telling me that they would come get me the first of November but I just didn't want them to do the 4000 mile trip to Ohio and back. I kept trying to get someone and finally they said that they were on the way. I just couldn't stop them. I have some special friends out here, but Tom did inform me that it would have been much easier if they had come in November before all of the snow. I love them to death. I have been decorating my cactus flower bed in front of my camper with pretty rocks. I still need a few more but I could never have enough rocks. I will be home for the April meeting, probably. You all be safe and I will see you. See you soon, BONNIE 10
