CASE STUDY Case study: Brisbane City Council s Legacy Way Tunnel, Disassembly of Tunnel Boring Machines OVERVIEW: ALE ECR Heavylift is providing specialist heavy lifting and onsite transport services to assist in the disassembly of the two Tunnel Boring Machines used to construct Brisbane City Council s Legacy Way Tunnel, which is being constructed by Transcity Joint Venture in Brisbane, Queensland. The project scope included the design and manufacture of specialised lifting equipment, provision of engineered lifting and rigging studies. It also included the supply of a 450Te Hydraulic Lift System and 9 Axles of SPT (Self Propelled Trailers) to lift pieces from the Tunnel Boring Machines and transport them to a storage yard on the surface. SERVICES REQUIRED: The Tunnel Boring Machines located inside the Eastern portal of the Legacy Way project presented a unique challenge due to limited head room and access constraints resulting from their underground location. www.ale-ecr.com.au 5
CASE STUDY Case study: Gorgon LNG Project, Western Australia OVERVIEW: ALE Heavylift has been contracted to carry out lifting and transport operations of pre-cast concrete caissons and fabricated topside structures for the Gorgon LNG Project in Henderson, Western Australia. SERVICES REQUIRED: Using a computer-controlled synchronous jacking system, ALE elevate the precast concrete caissons, weighing up to 3000Te, to allow SPMTs to be inserted beneath the caissons. Transport operations are carried out using 130 axles of SPMT. The fabricated topside structures are rotated 180 degrees before being installed onto the caissons. ALE proceeds to load the assembled units out onto barges for marine movement to the final destination. 6
CASE STUDY Case study: RGP6 Jimblebar Mine Project, Western Australia OVERVIEW: ALE ECR Heavylift is tasked with receiving, storage, and land transportation of over-sized and over-mass modules used to construct the RGP6 Jimblebar Iron Ore project for mining company, BHP Billiton. To transport the modules to the Jimblebar Mine site over 450kms of public road, ALE ECR used Goldhofer Conventional hydraulic trailers pulled by one (or two) prime movers depending on the weight of the modules. SERVICES REQUIRED: The general project scope was to receive up to 230 modules, with weights varying between 5 227Te, under ships hook using up to 96 axles of SPMT in different configurations and transport them to an intermediate storage location within the port. www.ale-ecr.com.au 7
