what s on Horse Festival roundup All the fun and festivity of the Scone and Upper Hunter Horse Festival is upon us again with the ten-day celebration kicking off on May 5. The Professional Farriers Association NSW Branch Title and Blacksmith competitions will be held at White Park from Friday to Sunday. Friday night will also see the Australian Stock Horse Society Festival Ball give everyone a chance to dress up and get down to local band The Crippled Chickens. Scone s main street will come alive this Saturday morning, May 7 with the annual parade which is always a feat for the eyes. The Scone Cup Carnival is another highlight coming up on May 13 and 14. what s on Celebrate the artworks of talented members Scone Arts and Crafts will open its Members Exhibition and Photographic Awards on Friday May 6 at the Scone Arts & Crafts Hall, Kingdon Street Scone. Scone Arts and Crafts Inc. is a community group which supports the arts in the Upper Hunter region. Started by a group of painters in 1963, the organisation is still going strong with around 150 members today. The members are all sending in their entries, and we are hopeful of some really exciting works of art, pottery and sculpture that will be all be for sale during the exhibition. For the Fallen is a highly evocative, costumed piece which features a new work by composer Paul Jarman to commemorate the Centenary of the Battle of Fromelles. The group will perform at the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music as part of their current tour, which also takes in Canberra, London, Paris and the battlefields of France. In July, Hunter Singers will tour to the Western Front for the Centenary commemorations.
