With the help of a local guide we ll tour Acadia National Park, which comprises 41,000 acres of rock-bound coast on Mount Desert Island. Here you will find granite cliffs side-by-side with sand and cobblestone beaches. Glacier-carved mountains rise from the sea, cupping deep lakes in their valleys. The fall foliage can be filled with golds, yellows, reds, crimsons, and browns. Set against a backdrop of dark green, the hillsides are a site to behold. Our trail leads to North Conway for our lunch break. The Kancamagus Highway is a scenic drive in New Hampshire that is well known as one of the best fall foliage drives in the country. It is designated as an American Scenic Byway and it is our route this afternoon. We ll climb to Franconia Notch and ride a tram to the top of Cannon Mountain. Weather permitting we may see Mt. Our afternoon travels take us to Stockbridge where we pay a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum. You may remember many of his paintings from the cover of the Saturday Evening Post. We ll return through the Berkshires to North Adams where we enjoy a final dinner in celebration of a great trip. Meals: B, D Day 7 - Sun, Oct 15 Travel Home Our bags are packed and we depart for home today. A morning drive will have us traversing the Bay State as we transfer to the Boston airport for our awaiting flight.
