Hello Everyone, Wow spring has finally shone up, no wait, yes, no wait, oh my word this weather is bipolar. We have had some really nice days here and there and yet we still have snow in the forecast. The best part is the snow is not sticking to the ground and the trees are budding and the spring flowers are poking up through the ground. Hopefully we have seen the last of old man winter til this fall. We had a great turn-out for our spaghetti supper/auction. It sure was great to see everyone and we sure hope you all had a marvelous time and that no one went away hungry. It was really nice to see Donna Lust and get an update on Jim. Please keep Jim in your thoughts and prayers as he has a long road to recover in front of him. Denny and I went to the spring officers meeting and our job for this year s Buckeye Rally will be registration. At the present time I do not know what day and time. I will let everyone know when I get that information. We have some great events coming up in May, starting on the 6th, Maintenance Day at Larry and Norma Franks, 1:00pm. Bring covered dish, brat s and hot dogs furnished. On the 16th, Ice Cream Ride, Hartzler s in Wooster meet at Big H 6:00pm. On the 20th, Ch. B Brunch/ Auction, Brunch at 11:00am, Auction at 12:00am. On the 26 th, Chapter V Gathering, Buehler s 5:30,( last meeting for door prizes). On the 28th, Memorial Day Parade, Ashland. We will meet on 4th Street at the Pump House Parking lot. We will be going on a lunch ride after, to The Rail, in Strongsville. We hope to have many bikes in the parade this year. Please keep all of our chapter members who are ill, recovering and mourning in your thoughts and prayers. Well I have ran out of things to write so till next month we will see you all down the road. Wayne & Debra Wolf CD s Hello EVeryone: As I look out the window things are really wet again. "Rain, rain go away, Chapter V wants to come out and play." The good thing with all this rain is it will wash all the salt off the roads so we can get out and ride, ride, ride. Hope everthing will be getting warmer and dryer soon. I would like to thank everyone for helping with this years auction. We had a great turn out and a lot of nice items to be auctioned off. Great Team Work by everyone!!! Keep your ride schedule handy so you don't miss out on any of our rides. Also keep our sick and healing in your prayers. Until next time. With the new Officer Changes in GWRRA comes refinements in how we do training. I would like to take a moment to discuss some new policies that have been handed down over the past several months. The Road Captain course has had one of the changes. The Road Captain has two parts, the classroom and the road. In Ohio as well as other Districts the course may have been done all in one day or due to various reasons it may have been broken apart and separated by days or weeks. But in no case was the course completion card given until both components were completed. The changes come in the amount of time that can elapse between the classroom and road. The refinement is more in line with how we teach Rider Course Classes. As I understand it these changes will be included in the new GWRRA Rider Course Instructor Guides that will soon be distributed. If you have not seen it, Tim Grimes has an article in May Wing World discussing this topic see page 64. In addition to making this requirement clearer, what about other on-bike activities such as Amazing Team or Top Gun. They too are being tied back to what we do with Rider Courses. If a motor vehicle cannot participate in a GWRRA Rider Course Class, then it can t complete in an AT or Top Gun or any other GWRRA Skills Completion, this excludes on-bike games that are part of many District Rallies. Still we must be careful to practice safety for those who participate in on-bike games. In short these refinements are making our policies and practices more consistent across GWRRA. If you have any questions about these refinement s, please call or see me. FROM THE DISTRICT EDUCATORS Robert G & Angela WILLIAMS District Educators Ohioeducator@Ohiogwrra.Org So until the next time! Hello Everyone, Hope you all have been able to get out and enjoy the nice days we have had. Just a few words, to let everyone know to check your membership cards and renew your membership cards when needed. Your help with this is greatly appreciated. Till next month ride safe. Deb Wolf acting MEC Although it is a little late for this winter, it is never to soon to get prepared for the next one. Pictured is the new Snow Wing manufactured in America. It is designed so the blade helps stabilize the bike and keep tip overs to a minimum. In case of a tip over there is a break-a-way mounting bracket so the bike is not damaged. There is a detachable 4 foot long bar on the back of the blade. It is designed to slip behind the crash bar, giving you the leverage to easily up right the bike. There will be an audible click to indicate that everything is in place and you are ready to proceed. I would recommend purchasing the accessory sander kit. It easily mounts in the saddle bags with a hose that distributes sand in front of the wheel for added traction in heavy snow and on hills. There is also a canvas cover available with plexiglass windows to keep you out of the elements if you feel the need. Since your Gold Wing generally sits idly by in the garage during the winter, it will be readily available for use. This will also give you a reason to ride your bike year round. For more information visit Snow Wing at www.igotsnowedagain.com (4)
Hello everyone. Here we are almost back home from a bus trip to San Antonio Texas. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. The other day I saw a billboard showing a set of motorcycle bars with hands only, it read, behind these handlebars is a life, LOOK TWICE!!!! May is motorcycle awareness month, so remember to wear your orange colors. We will have yard signs, banners, bumper & tailgate notices for you to pickup at the gathering. Remember the Winter Picnic, Maintenance Day and other upcoming events. Maintenance Day will be at our place. Please let Larry O or myself know of things you need help with, so we will be prepared and have the necessary tools etc. Please keep all those in time of need, and healing in our prayers. Hope to see you on your motorcycle SOON!!! Hi, Well the Ohio weather is doing it again. 70 today and 35 tomorrow. I know it will end but when. I have seen a few brave souls out riding on a couple warmer days. It makes me think back to my younger days when I used to do that. Now I wait until the forecast is more stable. This year I won t be riding until my shoulder heals a little more, so I m not in any hurry. Maintenance day, May 6th, will be at Larry & Norma Franks at 1:00 PM. Some things you may want to consider doing are, tires, install accessory's, change fluids, or replace the air cleaner to name a few. If you are wanting something done on your bike let Larry or I know so we can have the proper equipment on hand. The closer it gets to summer the more events will take place, with Chapter Rides, Parades, Rally s etc. As always, be sure to keep your ride calendar handy so you don t miss out on the fun. Larry & Bonnie Wow, has it been a month already! Sorry we missed last month. As I said earlier I had a State Conference for the Daughters of American Revolution that weekend. If you asked Tim, he would say that was all I lived for because I'm gone so much. I was so glad that I went, my chapter won 14 Awards. I would list them but they wouldn't make sense to anyone. It's taken Tim 6 years to understand. One highlight was having the American History Teacher that our chapter nominated win Ohio Teacher of the Year! The other award was meeting the President General (the big, big boss) and receiving the chapter's 100% Achievement Award from her. See you at the meeting.
