MCI Newsletter SUMMER 2013 Words from the President It s hard to believe it is almost May 2. The summer shows will be here soon. I look forward to meeting as many members of MCI as possible at the summer shows. My wife and I will be at the Massey Days Reunion June 6-8 at the Armstrong s in El Paso, IL. I am owner of Prairie Land Power, a MF Dealership in Jerseyville, IL, that was started in 1948. My collection of tractors was started in 1993 with the purchase of a MH 22 and since that time I have added more MH, MF and Ferguson tractors, implements and combines. Thanks to everyone for putting their trust in me to be president of MCI for 2013. If I can be of help to anyone please contact me. Charlie Gerson

GALESBURG MALL SHOW by David A. Brockly Every year, Maple City Tractor Club, has a show inside the Galesburg Mall the second week end of February. This year the weather was favorable, no wet or salty roads so they had a good turn out of tractors. The mall was near full with 60 plus tractors. On Friday night the tractors are lined up out in the parking lot and when the mall closes at nine o clock, they roll back a door and we drive our tractors down the hall ways and park them in some kind of order. They let us enter in small groups and want them parked and motors turned off quickly to save on exhaust fumes and a lot of cold air coming into the mall. You have to wait until five o clock after closing on Sunday evening, and then they open the big door and we drive them out, hoping to get loaded and tied on the trailers before it gets dark. If you have more than one tractor it helps to have an extra driver. Most of our club members live 50 milers or more from the show and with two or three trips back and forth it makes for a busy weekend. There were six tractors displayed by their owners who are members of Massey Collector of Illinois. I am attaching pictures of these tractors with the names of the club members who own them. All of our tractors were in the Sears wing at the show. There was also a nicely restored Massey Harris 44 displayed at the show but I didn t get a chance to meet the owner. I don t think he is a member of the MCI but I did put a membership application on the seat of his tractor. The First picture is of two tractors in front of Sears store, the front tractor is a 101 Junior and the rear tractor isa 101 Senior, both of these belong to myself of Vermont, IL. The second is a nicely restored Massey 444 standard belonging to Dean Schwartzkopf of Milan, IL. The third picture shows two tractors, a beige Ferguson 35 and a red and bronze Massey Harris 50 belonging to Jim Heaton of Astoria, IL and the fourth picture a Ferguson 20 belonging to Marvin Chockley of Lewistown, IL. 3
