Page 2 Kettle Moraine Riders News Trail Master Update: The bridge repair needs some additional work but is otherwise in great shape. Side rails will be added for safety. Trail set up will be November 6 th with a rain date of November 13 th. Meet at Bradfords at 9:00 am. A new improvement to our system will be signage at all intersections. This will also include a trail numbering system and will be included in the new maps. A great upgrade to our already amazing trails system! Highway clean up will take place prior to the fall picnic and not during trail set up. More info in the fall picnic section. Due to the rising demands on the trail master position, an assistant trail master position seemed reasonable. Thanks goes out to Steve Piraino for stepping up and volunteering to aid Dan in this important job. AWSC Annual Workshop Anyone interested in attending the annual workshop needs to inform Craig Keys by September 30 th. We have approved to send 2 people from the club to attend this event on October 28 th through the 30 th, which will be held in Wisconsin Dells. See the AWSC website for more info. Kick Off Meeting and Improvements Appetizers were served at the first meeting and also our complimentary beverages. This will be done randomly throughout our meeting season. It was a nice addition to our first meeting of the season. Something else new, is the 50/50 raffle. At each meeting raffle tickets will be sold for $1.00. At the end of the meeting a prize winner will be selected and will go home with half of the collection. The remaining money will be held in escrow until the March 2017 meeting, where one lucky winner will take home the pot. In order to be eligible for this final chance. You must have participated in the raffle at least one other time throughout the current meeting season. Charitable Contributions: At the October meeting we will be discussing ideas for our annual charitable contributions. Please come prepared to discuss this topic. We have supported many great causes over the years and will continue to do so.

Other items are available and can be found on the website. Meeting Minutes: Minutes - Kettle Moraine Riders Snowmobile Club Tuesday, September 6, 2016 Suhmer's Saloon Eagle, WI Meeting called to order at 7:02 p.m. by President Craig Keys. Meeting attendance: 20 Craig thanked Tom Rowinski for his service as President. Tom was unable to make the meeting due to work commitments. Craig indicated that a 50/50 raffle would be done each month, with half of the proceeds being paid out to a winner each month, and the other 50% to continue to grow each month with a payout possibly in March. Minutes were read by Secretary Robin Douglas. Dave Douglas motioned to accept, Steve Shaffer seconded. Dave Douglas is the new Vice President, which opens up his former board position. Craig indicated that nominations will take place at the end of the meeting and the newsletter will include information on this vacancy. Treasurer's Report:

Kettle Moraine Riders News Page 5 Checking: $8,336.87 Paypal: $1,966.19 Total $10,303.06 Karen informed the group the dues for the year are now due, which are $30 per family. Motion by Steve Shaffer to approve the Treasure's Report. Board Member Report: One of the main goals to be accomplished by the board is to update our bylaws, as the only copy we know we have is from the '70s. Craig would like to take our time to tailor it to our needs. He asked for a couple of club members to join the board members in bringing it up to date. Craig would also like to work on communication between members. He asked when an email request regarding events or information comes out, please send a reply back, even if you're not interested in participating in the event. He reminded members to look for the monthly newsletter in their email. Craig indicated that our donations and expenditures should be approved by the board when it is over a certain dollar amount (to be determined). An Assistant Trail Master position is available for anyone who would like to volunteer. It can be determined at a later date whether this is a board position. An additional board member is necessary due to the size of the club (in addition to the vacancy created by Dave Douglas). Snacks will be available at some of the meetings to encourage attendance and socializing after the meeting. Old Business: Dave gave an update on the donation we made to the Village of Eagle PD. It should have covered the cost of four complete body cameras. They will need to purchase chargers and other items to go with the cameras. A picture was in the Mukwonago Chief this past week. Craig brought up the Snowmobile Convention in late October. Two members are able to go. If you are interested, please let Craig know within the next two weeks. The workshop is done by the state with information on clubs, classes for safety, and other informational sessions. Karen has the agenda if anyone is interested. It was passed around at the meeting and will be discussed in the newsletter. New Business:

Page 6 Kettle Moraine Riders News We want to get our charities determined early in the season. Usual recipients are the fire department and the food pantry. If you are interested in donating to a particular charity, let the board know. Meeting change for next month. It was voted that the meeting be held on Tuesday, October 11, due to a large number of board members being unavailable. Committees: KM Days Robin reported on the sausage booth at Kettle Moraine Days. We ended up with a profit of $878.53. A couple of changes are already being planned for next year. County Raffle Ticket sales. Tom Rowinski usually discusses that so we'll table it for now. Tom should also have the snow show times available via an email. The snow show is October 14-16. Fall outing: Our fall outing will coincide with highway cleanup. Steve Piraino talked to Scott Gillette, and we'll get a date to him. Watch an email for further information. Chili/Brat Bash: Karen took a head count to see who is interested in being on the committee. Tickets need to be printed up asap, and the larger raffle prizes need to be determined asap. It was discussed about possibly choosing another grand prize besides a TV. Chris Kalusche suggested an ipad. No other suggestions were made at this time. Club Trip: Craig asked what the consensus was as to whether to stay at Gateway. Tim Arquette said Gateway was a good spot as it has everything we need, and the group agreed. The trip was set for January 27-29 th. Craig will get a block of rooms set up, plus ask for a raffle prize for the chili bash. Snowmobile Safety class. Craig needs to talk to the DNR. He and Steve Shaffer will work with those involved to set things in place. Website: Pictures are still in need for a couple of the new board members. We had a twoyear subscription with Go Daddy, and it will be up for renewal this month. The membership link is on the website to renew or become a new member. Dave asked for comments on any changes, but nothing was said. Highway Cleanup and Trail Report:

Kettle Moraine Riders News Page 7 The county sent out a notice regarding the wild parsnip growing in Waukesha County that needs to be avoided. Adopt-a-Highway volunteers picked up over 19 tons of garbage. Some of the more unusual... an engine, a bumper, a refrigerator, and not so unusual drug paraphernalia. Dan asked about having highway cleanup and trail set up on the same day. He feels it's too much for one day and we'd do a better job if it was separated. Steve Piraino agreed that it should be separated. The fall outing will include the highway cleanup this year. The bridge was repaired in early May. The landowner did not like that we left the steel beams exposed leading to potential horse injuries. Dan made a list of things to be done to complete the bridge. It is now perfect for sled and horse travel, but needs more steel for stability. Dan will be in touch with Jon Weinkauf. Side rails may be put on it as well. Per Steve P., Scott Gillette has lots of steel scrap that Dan might be able to use. Dan will be contacting landowners regarding trails in the same spots as last year. Eagleville to the forest is the first priority. Trail set up will be November 6 with November 13 as a rain date. Meet at Tom Bradford's at 9:00 a.m. Craig indicated that when trail setup items are removed from the Bradford farm, we will be storing everything in a rented storage unit going forward. Dan is working on securing the storage unit. There are many items to be stored, and it was agreed it would be great to have everything in one location. Nominations: Craig asked if anyone is interested in one of the board positions. Steve Shaffer volunteered. Dave Kalusche asked about the responsibilities of a board member. Karen had created a job description and read it to the group. She explained that we will have monthly board meetings to get the business end of the club back in sync. Tim Arquette asked why we need to update the bylaws, and Karen indicated it was because they are terribly outdated. Dave Kalusche volunteered to be a board member, as well as Steve Piraino. Additional nomination information will be posted in the newsletter, and voting will take place next month. Craig asked if anyone is interested in the Assistant Trail Master. Steve Piraino volunteered. Dave Douglas encouraged the use of the trailmaster@kmrsnowmobileclub.com address. Dan will be using it going forward. He can't send from it, but he will receive from it.

Page 8 Kettle Moraine Riders News Announcements: Karen Keys said that we've been asked by the Eagle Business Assn. to attend their meeting this week. They asked for a short presentation to give information about our club and what we do. They put welcome packets together for new people in the community, so our brochures will go in there. Karen will attend this Thursday at 5:30. If anyone is interested in attending with Karen, let her know. It will be at Citizens Bank in Eagle. Steve Piraino mentioned Hay Days this weekend. Motion for adjournment at 8:07 p.m. by Tim Arquette, seconded by Dave Douglas. Respectfully submitted, Robin Douglas, Secretary
