The annual Flat Point Clam Fest, on Sunday the 8th this year, was awesome. The weather couldn t have been better. We had lots of fine food, drink and friends. And let us not forget : Doug Cram and Lane Langford received their Vice and Rear Commodore pins. These, along with my Commodore s pin, will be handed down annually to the next officer in line. Jim Lett kicked off planning for the North Cruise We had a few guests who have indicated they re planning to join. Then, on Friday the 13th, we went straight into the Commodore s Cruise, which, from all accounts, was a smashing success. 14 vessels and 43 people attended. Probably the highest turn out ever. The weather could have been a bit better, but not much. The sun was out most of the time, and it only rained enough to wet the decks. The voyage from Lopez to Victoria was interesting, but not dangerous. I think most captains would agree that the entrance to Victoria was the most challenging, both for arrival and departure. From the dock party and potluck on Friday night to dinner Saturday evening, to the Sunday morning coffee, all was great!

FOURTH OF JULY PARADE Call Ed Carpenter at 360-468-4248 To volunteer FISHERMAN BAY RAFT-UP July 12, Noon Come one, come all! Bring your own Beverages, snacks, chairs, games, whatever RODMAN DUNCAN MEMORIAL BAR-TO-BAR RACE Saturday, July 19 All entrants must check in before 12:00 noon For details see Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions 6/20/14 email from Russ Johnson or contact Russ at captainrussj@gmail.com or 360-468-2265 CRUISE TO BRENTWOOD BAY July 25 27, 2014. Friday, 7/25 Potluck on the upper deck 6:00. Grills available for cooking. Bring your own appetizers, Beverages, and utensils Saturday, 7/26 Dinner (Order off menu) in the SeaGrille Restaurant at 5:30 Sunday. 7/26 Coffee and Baileys on the dock 7:30 until 9:00 ish And, who knows, maybe even some shenanigans during our stay at Brentwood. Where s Waldo? >>> Marina guests have the opportunity to enjoy the amenities of the Lodge pool, spa, Eco Centre activities, pub. Nearby, Butchart Gardens (fireworks on Saturday night great viewing from the Bay), Brentwood Bay Village, Sidney and Victoria (public transportation available), hiking. Please call the Brentwood Bay Marina at (250) 652-3151 or (888) 544-2079 or send an email to marina@brentwoodbayresort.com to reserve your space. The Harbormaster is Matt and he would be delighted to reserve a slip for you.

COMMODORE S CORNER, continued The potluck, as usual, was tasty and plentiful. Roaming around Victoria was enjoyed by most. Some even had the opportunity to view the annual WNBR (World Naked Bike Ride) and the riders in all their natural accoutrements. Another highlight of the weekend was the annual birthday celebration for Steve Clark aboard their vessel Couverden. Thanks to Steve and Andrea for their hospitality and the great cake. to see how you can volunteer to help. Thank you, Ed. The event would definitely not have been such a success without the great help from Gayl Beller, Jane Simonson, Judy Welker and Arlene Sund. A huge round of applause there. From your Commodore, a giant thank to you all who attended. It s our members who make this such a fun yacht club. The next event is coming soon! Ed Carpenter has take it upon himself to organize a float for the July 4th parade. Please give Ed a call at 360-468-4248 Don t forget the annual raft-up in Fisherman Bay on July 12th and the Rodman Duncan Memorial (Bar to Bar) Race on the 19th. Then the next cruise, the weekend of July 25th, is to Brentwood Bay. This will also serve as the kick-off for the North Cruise participants. Contact the Brentwood Bay Marina at 1-888-544-2079 today to make your slip reservations. The fee is $1.65 per foot, and $4.00 per night for power. Wi-fi, showers and more are included. Visit their web site http://www.brentwoodbayresort.com/marina/brentwood-bay-marina.htm. We still have a few opportunities for you to help out by hosting a future cruise event. Contact Lane Langford to offer your services. Have a safe and happy summer!
