OUR DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY 16-DAYS TURKEY AND ISRAEL The Journey Begins DAY 01: DEPART CANADA / ENROUTE Our exciting journey begins as you board a wide bodied transatlantic jetliner. Dinner and breakfast will be served in flight on the way to Turkey. DAY 02: ARRIVAL ISTANBUL / IZMIR Upon arrival in Istanbul we connect for a short flight to Izmir, second largest tourist center that has an abundance of natural wonders and archaeological sites. Izmir itself has contributed to mythology and its historic remains prove its importance to history. Dinner and overnight in Izmir. DAY 03 EPHESUS / KUSADASI After Breakfast, leave Izmir and drive to Ephesus. You will see the amazing ruins of this great city; the theater, library, Temple of Hadrian and the newly excavated Roman Terrace Houses. Ephesus of ancient and Biblical times, was the site of one of the Seven Wonders of the World (Temple of Artemis) and one of the seven churches of Revelation. Once the most important city in Asia Minor, it was where the Virgin Mary took refuge with Saint John after the Crucifixion and where she lived out the last years of her life. Dinner and Overnight in KUSADASI. DAY 04 MILETUS / HIERAPOLIS / PAMMUKKALE Drive south to visit the Greco Roman site of Priene. Visit Miletus the site of the theater where Paul spoke to the Ephesian Elders. Then drive to Aphrodisias. See the Agora, Theater, Stadium and Hadrian Baths. Also visit the Aphrodisias Museum. Then drive to unexcavated Colossae on the foothills of Mount Honaz. Finally visit Hierapolis where you will visit the monuments, thermal baths, and the theater with its well preserved stage and Philip s Tomb. Dinner and overnight will be in Pamukkale.
DAY 05: PAMMUKALE Pamukkale day at leisure. Breakfast and Dinner are included at the hotel. DAY 06: PHILADELPHIA / BERGAMA Leave for Bergama, ancient Pergamum, where parchment was first made. Also is Asclepion, the health spa dedicated to the god of healing. The well preserved ruins still draw thousands of visitors from all corners of the world. Visit Philadelphia now called Alasehir. Visit remains of Byzantine basilica as well as some 11 th century frescoes. Philadelphia and Smyrna were the only two churches among the seven about which nothing bad was said by John. Thyatira, and Sardis, going back to the 13th Century BC has well preserved ruins including the gold refineries of Croesus, the gates which Alexander the great laid siege to, and a palace where an ancient queen fell in love with Hercules. Dominating these ruins are the remains of a newly restored colossal synagogue, the largest of its kind found. Dinner and Overnight in Bergama. DAY 07: PERGAMUM / IZMIR / ISTANBUL Departure for Izmir, transfer to the Airport for the short flight to Istanbul. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel for dinner. DAY 08: VISITS IN ISTANBUL Visit the church of St. Savior, the earliest and most important church in Istanbul famous for its mosaics, the Byzantine Hippodrome to the obelisk brought from Egypt by Theodosius, and the bronze Serpent Column from Delphi. Visit the Blue Mosque, with its six minarets. Next is Saint Sophia, a Christian Basilica last rebuilt by Justinian, then turned into a Mosque in 1453 by Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror. In the afternoon, shop at Istanbul s famous bazaar before returning to the hotel for dinner DAY 09: ISTANBUL / TEL AVIV / HAIFA / TIBERIAS Transfer to the airport for the flight to Tel Aviv. Upon arrival meet your guide and start the tour to Caesarea Maritima. This city is named in honor of Augustus Caesar and it became the seat for Roman procurators. Visit the ruins, of fortifications, moat and harbor, amphitheater and water aqueducts. Next stop is Haifa on the slopes of Mt Carmel. View the Bahai Temple and Gardens. At Muhraqa visit the church of Saint Elijah where he challenged the priests of Baal. Drive through the valley of Armageddon towards the Sea of Galilee. Passing Cana site of the first miracle of Jesus, the Transformation of Water into Wine, arrive in Tiberias in time for dinner and overnight. DAY 10: SEA OF GALILEE Our tour this morning is dedicated to the Sermon on the Mount. First we visit Mount Beatitudes, revered by Christians as the site where Jesus preached His immortal Sermon on the Mount, and is dedicated to the feeding of the multitude. A short drive takes us to Capernaum visiting the area where Jesus lived at the house of Simon Peter, and see the ruins of the Synagogue. We board a wooden boat for a cruise across the tranquil Sea. After a time to rest and relax on the beach of the Sea of Galilee, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. An optional visit to a diamond factory may be arranged after Dinner. DAY 11: GALILEE / JERICHO / DEAD SEA At Mount Tabor ascend by taxi and visit the Basilica of the Transfiguration. Travel to Nazareth, home of Jesus and Visit the Annunciation Church. Driving to Jericho stop at Bethany beyond the Jordan where John baptized Jesus. Visit the excavations of Canaanite Jericho and view Mount Temptation and Elisha s Fountain. Pass Qumran and continue descending to the lowest spot on earth at the Dead Sea. This will be your opportunity to wade or swim in its saline waters. Dinner and overnight at your resort hotel. DAY 12: MASADA/QUMRAN//JERUSALEM After breakfast, we will ascend the fortress of Masada by cable car and tour the site of the fortifications recalling the Jewish resistance against the Romans in 73 AD. The excavations revealed remains of waterworks, Herodian palaces and Roman Temples. Returning towards Ein Gedi and the caves of Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947. We drive up to Jerusalem arriving at our hotel in time for dinner and overnight at your hotel. DAY 13: JERUSALEM/BETHLEHEM Morning Worship Service at the Garden Tomb, then travel around six miles south of Jerusalem towards the mountain village of Bethlehem. Visit the Fields of the Shepherds, the Basilica of the Nativity and the church of Saint Catherine. The Basilica stands over the Grotto where Jesus was born. Lunch is included and time for shopping in Bethlehem before returning to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. DAY 14: JERUSALEM / OLD CITY Drive to the Old City, entering through St. Stephen's Gate. Visit the Pool of Bethesda, Ecce Homo Arch, (Behold the Man), and see the pavement of the Lithostrotos. Walk on the VIA DOLOROSA, the route trodden by Christ on His way to Calvary; before making your way to the Church of
the Holy Sepulchre. We will attempt to visit the Dome of the Rock, erected in 691 AD around the rock upon which Abraham intended to sacrifice his son Isaac. Stop at the Wailing Wall. Balance of the day at leisure in the Old City, or you may return to the hotel. DAY 15: MOUNT OF OLIVES / NEW JERUSALEM The Mount of Olives is located on the eastern side of the Old City. It offers a magnificent view of the Temple Mount and the Jerusalem Hills. As you descend the Mount of Olives, visit the Church of Pater Noster. Next is the Garden of Gethsemane, the Basilica of the Agony and stand near the Rock where Jesus prayed and was betrayed by Judas. At Mt. Zion visit the House of Caiaphas and the Church of Saint Peter in Gallicantu. Here Jesus was held in a cell dungeon before His Judgement. The rest of the afternoon is dedicated to the New Part of Jerusalem, the model of Jerusalem, Shrine of the Book and Yad Vashem. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 16 TEL AVIV / CANADA Morning transfer to Ben Gurion airport for departure to destination, the end of an unforgettable pilgrimage to the Bible Lands, including Turkey and Israel. To have walked in the footsteps of Jesus and the early Apostles. OPTIONAL EXTENSION TO EGYPT (APRIL 16-18, 2019) DAY 16: ARRIVAL CAIRO Upon arrival in Cairo, you will be met by our representative, and transferred to your hotel near the Pyramids. A welcome dinner awaits your arrival. DAY 17: OLD CAIRO Morning visit to the Egyptian Museum with its magnificent treasures. Drive to the Giza Plateau to visit Cheop's Pyramid, Granite Temple and the Sphinx. Camels are provided for those wishing to make the ascent to the pyramids. In the afternoon we will visit Old Cairo, Coptic Churches, Moallaka Amr Mosque and the Citadel. Time to stroll in the covered Khan El-Khalili Bazaar for shopping before returning to the Hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 18: DEPARTURE TO NORTH AMERICA Morning Transfer to the Cairo International airport for the returning flight to Canada, arriving the same day to your destination with memories that will last for a lifetime. TOUR CONDITIONS AIR TRANSPORTATION: Economy class via scheduled IATA carriers. Individual air fares are based on advance purchase and subject to availability at the time of ticketing. Reservations may not be changed after ticketing without penalty, $500.00 CDN will be charged by the airline for changes in reservations. A higher penalty may be imposed for total cancellation, or no show after ticketing. The checked baggage allowance is one piece not to exceed 23 kgs per person plus one handbag. HOTELS: Superior First Class hotels, based on sharing twinbedded rooms with private facilities. No reduction is offered for triple accommodation. TIPS & TAXES: A general tip fund of $200 USD per person will be collected by your host at the outset of the tour for the basic 16-day Israel and Turkey tour. ($225 USD when including the extension to Egypt). The tipping fund will care for relevant tipping to waiters, bellboys, chamber maids, front desk, service personnel plus guides and drivers. INCLUDED ITEMS: Service charges by hotels and taxes by local government authorities are included throughout. Airport security, user fees, and departure taxes; fuel surcharge and land departure fees are also included; as are visa Fees for Countries requiring them. NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR COST: Passport fees, phone calls, additional personal gratuities, valet/laundry service, and all items of a personal nature, all expenses within Canada; and all kinds of insurance. Meals include coffee or tea with breakfast. Beverages at meals other than breakfast are extra. DEPOSITS & PAYMENTS: A deposit of $500.00 CDN per person is required at the time of booking. CANCELLATION & REFUNDS: (1) For Land Arrangements Full refund for any cancellation in writing Ten weeks or more prior to departure. Cancellation within ten weeks to departure will be subject to a cancellation penalty of $500.00 CDN, plus expenses incurred, and airline penalty. After departure no refund for any unused services: Air and Land. (2) For Airline tickets, the carrier's cancellation policy governing fares will apply immediately after tickets are issued. After ticketing, all airline tickets are non-refundable, non-endorsable and nontransferable. Any change nullifies the airfare guarantee.
FINANCIAL LIABILITY: The client by engaging EDAN Tours and LAMA Tours, and making deposit and/or full payment for the travel arrangements specified, acknowledges their position of tour operators in the sole capacity of agents for the tour members with the airlines, land operators, wholesalers, hotels, bus companies, contractors, and service providers etc., and agrees to hold the Tour operators blameless in making the arrangements on his behalf, provided same shall be made through generally acceptable suppliers; and further agrees that restitution for damages, if any are claimed, shall be sought directly from the suppliers conveying the service. Such conveying, etc. is subject to the laws of the country where the conveyance is provided. The sole financial liability of the tour operators is limited to the amount of commission each receives from arranging air and land transportation and accommodation on behalf of the clients with service providers, airlines, hotels, and other tour operators. Our staff are not experts in jewelry or antiques and therefore EDAN Tours, and the tour hosts shall not be held responsible for quality and/or cost of items purchased while on tour. SEQUENCE OF TOURS: The sequence of sightseeing is left to the discretion of the Tour Hosts. Right is reserved to vary the sequence or to make substitutions on the tour sometimes after group arrival at the country of destination, if necessitated by circumstances beyond tour operator control.
