The Motor Company and the Dealership did a great job on the engine and it is running really strong. I m on my way to another 100,000 plus miles on this one! Space Coast Harley-Davidson s Service Department did an excellent job in getting the engine out, sent to Milwaukee and back in the bike in record time; just over three weeks for everything. Thanks. As the weather gets better we are getting more people to join us for our rides, which is a good thing. I would like to take a minute and remind everybody that for the most part we ride in a staggered formation and that while riding with a group it is imperative that you never ever pull along side somebody within the same lane that you are in. If the person in front of you slows down, then you slow down also do not pass them. We will present more about this at the next Chapter meeting and explain why passing within the lane is a very dangerous thing to do. For those of you that did not go to help Joanie fulfill her Bucket List wish of riding on a Harley, you missed a really wonderful time. We had about 23 bikes and 27 members ride down to Grand Harbor in Vero Beach to help her. They had 40 plus people there waiting for us to arrive. When Jan and I parked, there was a group of about 6 guys standing there; one came forward and put his hand on my shoulder and said I guess you know all of us guys are jealous. Yes, I did know that! You can go to our web site www.spacecoast-hog.com, click on Photo Gallery and then open up Special Bucket List Slide Show to see how happy they were to get rides on a Harley. I think we had as much fun as they did. We had an opportunity to ride with Steve, the owner of Space Coast Harley-Davidson, on Daytona 500 Sunday. The ride was planned to go to JB s Fish Camp in New Smyrna Beach but the weather looked like rain up north so at the last minute we decided to ride south with the hope of staying dry. We took A1A south to Wabasso then headed west to Marsh Landing for lunch. We had good food and good company but as soon as we started to head north to go home the rain clouds opened up and everybody got a soaking. It was nice to have Steve accompany us and we look forward to getting him on the bike more often. How many of you call the Hog Line before you leave the house for a ride? Steve s Ride was leaving at 10:30 am and we changed the direction we were going to ride a little after 8:30 am. This also changed the pick-up locations in that we canceled the north pick-up. I would hope that no members were waiting for us at the McDonalds in Titusville not knowing that we had changed the route due to the weather. So, please call the Hog Line, 321-255-2803 before you leave the house for a ride to check that nothing has changed. Remember that Bike Week is next week so get on your bike and take advantage of having one of the premier biking events in the nation right in our back yard. If you have never been to the Iron Horse Saloon you should go and check out the people and bikes and get a paper plate of steak, onions, mushrooms and potatoes; it is the best. If you do not want to go by yourself, give me a call, I ll be making many trips up there and would welcome the company. ACTIVITIES CORNER With Ellen Minotty activities@spacecoast-hog.com Greetings to all members and friends. February was a VERY busy month. Eleven activities to choose from and not enough time to do them all! We had a great turn out for Road Capt Training. It was the full 6 hours plus, but we learned lots of new things. Our director, Al and safety officer, Charlie made some significant changes to the way it will be directed in the future; those changes with the club safety first. Some people found out that there is more to leading a ride than just showing up, but we have the confidence that soon they will be leading a group and smiling too! New Policy you must have your Space Coast HOG membership card with you on every ride. If you do not have it, you will be required to fill out a waiver. REMEMBER YOUR CARD PLEASE. The full moon ride was especially nice. We rode to Patrick Air Force Base Beach, being a little cloudy we were skeptical, but as it rose up over the horizon, it could have been a cruise ship out there on fire! Bright orange and blazing! From there we rode up A1A to Cocoa Beach, back to US1 and finished the night with ice cream. 3 of us had to ride to Indian River County area, and I have to say that was the best part of the night. By then the full moon was up in the sky, shining on the Indian River and lighting up the night. Beautiful. We hope that this ride will catch on and more members can take advantage of our great Florida weather at night time. The Bucket List Ride, even though it was not a chapter event, ended up with about 25 bikes and a great time. Our guest of honor, Joan had at least 50 people waiting for us at Grand Harbor in Vero Beach with lots of food, desserts and drinks on ice! We ended up giving I believe 18 people rides on our Harleys, with the oldest being 85! Joan said it was everything she ever dreamt it would be, and she even had her arms out like she was flying when we went up over the Barber Bridge. I think the club members had as much if not more fun; it was a real blessing to see the looks on their faces and the joy in their eyes. Steve s ride was advertised on the web site and throughout the store, and the turnout was about 25-30 bikes. The weather stopped them from going north, but they had a great ride to Marsh Landing in Fellsmere that always has a good meal. We ll do it again soon Steve! The Day off Ride is becoming a hit. The last ride they had 17 bikes. We are so glad we have so many members who are able to come out in the middle of the week. And Road Capt. s who make it happen! Don t forget, March is Traveling Hog. We ve got to bring home the Bacon! Mr. Bacon would really prefer to be at the beachside in his leather vest, but WE NEED YOU to suit up and show up! The more members, the more tickets. The more tickets, the bigger the chance of our ticket being drawn. And besides, the whole reason for this event is to visit other chapter s favorite places and socialize with them all. DON T FORGET OUR PANCAKE BREAKFAST AT THE NEXT CHAPTER MEETING! 9:30 am Mary Peterson will be our first cook! Ride Safe Ride Often but Screw It Let s Ride! Help Your Space Coast HOG Save This newsletter costs the Chapter approximately $300.00 per month to mail to our members. In an effort to reduce that cost we want to reduce the copies that have to be mailed. We would like to encourage everyone to enjoy it on-line. The nice thing is you get to see the full color version and you will get access to it quicker than the snail-mailed version. We will send an e-mail letting you know as soon as it is available. You can then access it on our Chapter web site www.spacecoast-hog.com Once there click on Newsletter and the user name is spacecoast and the password is hog. We will also make it available to be picked up in a printed version at the Dealership. So, in an effort to reduce cost, please consider getting your newsletter on-line or at the Dealership. If you must have a copy mailed to you, please send Jan, the Secretary, an e-mail secretary@spacecoast-hog.com with your name and address or give her the information at the next meeting. Thank You

Chapter meeting called to order at Space Coast H-D on Saturday, March 14 th, 2009. Director: Al Boileau Welcomed all Minutes from last meeting were accepted It s a good time to get signed up for Rolling Thunder. Memberships expired Dec 31 st, 2008 but we have always given a three month grace period for renewal. However, if you do not have a current club card that reads December 31 st,2009 you must sign a waiver on every ride. This protects Mother Hog and our club. In an effort to make sure that we have a waiver signed by everybody, we will ask that you present your card when signing in for rides. A big cost to the club is mailing out hard copies of the newsletter. We would like to reduce that cost. If you must receive the newsletter by mail please give Jan, the Secretary, your name and address. You can receive the newsletter by going to www.spacecoasthog.com, click on Newsletter then enter spacecoast for user and hog for password. We will send out an e-mail blast to let you know as soon as it is available. You can also pick up a copy at the Dealership. Remember, the online version is in full color. Some people ask What do I get for my $20.00 enrollment fee every year? When asked, one member had to actually think about it for a minute Well, you get free donuts and coffee at every meeting. You get a $10.00 reduction at the Christmas party. We provide the main meat dish at the LOH picnic plus when we have an entrance fee at a State Park, the club pays for it. And next month we are providing a pancake breakfast, no need to bring a dish. What more could you ask. Assistant Director: Brian VanAlstine Check out the song on the web site. (Born to be wild ) For Rolling Thunder this year, we are changing the route a bit. If you have never been, it is a great experience. April 21 st is the deadline for reserving rooms.
