National Tennessee District Chapter H Let s go riding! Harpeth Wings Chapter H Franklin, Tennessee We eat at 9:00 am, meet at 10:00 am at Shoney s Restaurant, Hwy 96 (exit 65) just west of I-65 in Franklin, 4 th Saturday of each month. Come join us at our next meeting April 28. Check out our Chapter webpage at http://www.chapterh.com Also our Facebook page at TNChapterH Volume 11 Number 4 April 2018 Director s Corner Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge Went to Spring Fling in Pigeon Forge and had a good time, good rides, great entertainment, and the dinner show at Dolly s Smoky Mountain Adventures after closing on Saturday was excellent. We saw the light show the dance and costume show on Thursday night. The talent show on Friday evening had great acts. As usual, Gary Hamilton was a real hoot. The only thing wrong with Spring Fling was the ride home it was cold and wet. We started out at 7:30 am by ourselves and met up with Chapter Q out of Clarksville somewhere along the way and rode with them until we parted ways at I-840 and continued home. Also, at Chapter L s meeting before Spring Fling, Karen won Another Piece of Wood. It s No Good Either. Pass It On. This piece of wood will be available at our next meeting on Saturday, April 28. There was a news report on local TV a few days ago that showed video from a surveillance camera that showed a car turning left in front of a motorcycle. The motorcycle hit the car (which left the scene) but the rider only received bruises. Yesterday, when riding out of the subdivision in which we live, I was coming up to an intersection and wanted to turn left. The bright, shiny late model Cadillac coming from my left had a stop sign. Did she stop? Not at the stop sign anyway. She finally saw me and stopped but she was halfway across the intersection when she did. Of course, I was watching her approach the intersection and was prepared. The moral of this story is simple. Keep your eyes open and be prepared to take evasive action if necessary. Since the position of Chapter Educator no longer exists officially, we no longer have access to your history on the Rider Ed database. We have given you directions for accessing your information previously. If you have lost the directions or need help accessing your information, we can help you with that. Just let us know. David & Karen ****************************************************************************** Ride Coordinator The weather in Tennessee is unpredictable. Are we in Spring yet? Anyway, if the weather behaves, we will be heading to Sewanee to Natural Bridge State Natural Area after our meeting on April 28. Be prepared to join us on the ride. Hopefully it will be warm and sunny. Page 3
