Volume of business for the week ending June 21 totaled $9,403,000,000. marking an increase of $412,000,000, or 5 per cent, over the total of $8,991^00,000 reported for the preceding week. This increase, in which all the leading cities, except Boston and Washington participated, reflects mainly the payment of the second installment of income taxes due on June 15. As compared with the week ending June 22, 1921, the volume of business for the week under review shows an increase of $1,294,000,000, or about 16 per cent. Increases over the figures shown about a year ago are reported for all leading centers, except Minneapolis. The increase for New York City alone was $924, 000,000, of 22 per cent, while the increase for a ll the other centers combined was only 9 per cent. The volume of business is measured by debits to individual accounts reported to the Federal Reserve Board for banks in clearing house centers. The total number of center# reporting this week is 2U?>, of which 166 are included in the summary by Federal reserve districts.
