Stevens Point Police Department 1515 Strongs Avenue Innovative Policing Stevens Point, WI 54481 through Partnerships Phone 715-346-1500 with the Community Fax 715-346-1509 To: Public Protection Committee Date: 08/05/13 Ref.: Community Events Hello, Kevin K. Ruder, Chief of Police After reviewing all of the local community events that are held within Stevens Point during the course of a year it is evident there are many events that require staffing and / or equipment provided by various city entities. A brief breakdown of these events is listed below. -60 + event related activities the Stevens Point Police Department is involved in annually. -22 require some amount of traffic control equipment to include barricades / cones from the Department of Public Works. -14 require setup and removal of temporary No Parking signs providing traffic control and space for the event to occur. As the community grows, so will the requests for similar events and the need for additional services from the Police Department and other city agencies. I look forward to answering questions about event needs and the subsequent burden placed on the cities resources to accommodate the events needs. The intent of this information is to start a conversation to address the needs of community events through a cost effective and efficient manner. Thank you, Asst. Chief Martin Skibba Stevens Point Police Department 715.346.1602 mskibba@stevenspoint.com
