Justification: The $32.000 million will be utilized to accelerate the installation of four (4) cockpit and aviation survivability equipment (ASE) modifications that will be ongoing for the newly acquired DeHavilland dash 8 aircraft that are replacing the legacy obsolete DeHavilland dash 7 aircraft. By accelerating these modifications with the funding the base procurement dollars of $16.302 million will be utilized to procure the required spares for the DeHavilland dash 8 aircraft. This funding will aid in accelerating the fielding of the DeHavilland dash 8 aircraft, increasing the Army's capability to detect, locate, classify/identity and track surface targets in day/night and near-all-weather conditions as well as save money by accelerating the replacement of an obsolete aircraft.
