Oklahoma has so many beautiful parks with incredible scenery. LET S GO VISIT SOME and possibly win some money for doing it. I hope to plan a few ride days where we can visit multiple parks in one ride. Ride somewhere, have a picnic, rest up and then ride home or possibly do a stay over and ride home the next day. GET IN TOUCH WITH KAY OR I AND PURCHASE YOUR RIDE PACKET. THE PACKET IS $15.00. I think this is a great way for us to get out and ride. And, it helps support our district. PAUL AND BECKY LAWSON MEMBERSHIP ENHANCEMENT/coy TERMINOLOGY New Member Orientation Guide Rev. 11-2015 As with any organization, there are terms you will hear which may be new to you or may have some unique meaning within GWRRA. We've attempted to identify and define some of these. However, if you hear something not described in this Guide, feel free to ask your Chapter Director. Charity or Toy Run: You will find that people in this Association have a big heart and like to help the less fortunate. Many times a "charity" or "toy" run is held where you will meet at a pre-arranged point with a new toy. With the assistance of the local law enforcement you may be "escorted" to a children's hospital or ward to deliver toys to children with critical and even terminal illnesses. Visits are also made to nursing homes, homeless shelters and other similar places to share some joy and happiness. Couple of the Year: The Couple of the Year Program was started in 1988 as a way to recognize couples that best represent the qualities and ideals of GWRRA and its Members. The program starts with the "Chapter Couple of the Year" and proceeds to "District Couple of the Year", "Region Couple of the Year", and finally "International Couple of the Year." All are based on a friendly selection process and the Couples of the Year serve for one year. At the International level, the selection process at this level includes Region Couples of the Year from both the United States and Canada. Beginning in 2013, GWRRA instituted an Overseas Couple of the Year program to represent the Countries outside the United States and Canada. For more information, please see the "Couple of the Year Manual" available from your Chapter Director, or go to the Membership Enhancement Program website at http://mep.gwrra.org. Dessert or Ice Cream Ride: This is similar to a "dinner ride" except, as the name implies, a stop is made for some sort of dessert like ice cream since most GWRRA Members love ice cream! Dinner Ride: Most Chapters schedule dinner rides (year around by bike or, in bad weather, by car) to their favorite restaurants. Normally these rides will be published in the Chapter Newsletter or in the "Annual Ride/Activity Schedule." These rides will start from a designated point and may be a short ride or a longer ride with a final stop for dinner. Field Events: These events can be either on-bike or off-bike. On-bike events are done at low speed within a designated area and are designed for fun! Off-bike events are similar to on-bike events except they are done off the bike. Plaques, trophies, certificates, or other forms of recognition may be given to recognize the winners within each event. Fifty-Fifty (50/50): To help fund expenses, tickets are sold (where legal) and are based on a random drawing. Half the money (50) is given away, typically in increments of 25, 15 and 10 and the other half (50) is deposited into the treasury. 50/50 tickets may be sold (where legal) at Chapter Gatherings, Conventions, and other Events. Poker or Observation Run: A Poker or Observation run may serve as a fundraiser for Chapter, District or Region. There are many formats, but these are basically conducted as follows: You sign in, pay a nominal fee and receive a set of directions for a scenic ride. During the "Poker Run," you may be required to stop at certain checkpoints and draw a card or draw all your cards at the end of the ride when you check in. As in poker, the best hand wins a plaque, trophy or certificate. An "Observation Run" is similar, but requires that you answer questions about sites along the route. The person who answers the most questions correctly wins. Where the wings come back!!!! 11 Friends for Fun, Safety and

JUDY AND THE ETcEteRAS!! Hi All We just got done with our first scrapbook meeting of the season and all went well. We got several pages completed and they look AWESOME!! All the new ideas are fantastic and beautiful. Another award-winning book in process. Thanks to all who came. We are going to get the scrapbook up to date for the Region H Rally. ELECTION JOKES: 1. If the people of a democracy are allowed to so, they will vote away the freedoms which are essential to democracy 2. ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION: the inability to become aroused over any of the choices for President put forth by EITHER party 3. Some never vote for anyone; always against the others 4. During the election campaign the air is full of speeches and vice versa BOOM our white buffalo mascot is in the process of getting of a makeover. As you girls know, makeovers take time. New clothes, new hair, new shoes etc. What s a girl to do!!!!!! Planning some fun days. Let me know of a place you would like to enjoy. It s going to be a fun year. Come when you can. Try not to miss out. It takes all of us to get this done!!!!!!!!!!!! Where the wings come back!!!! 13 Friends for Fun, Safety and

TECH TALK WITH MARK THRASHER Hi All, I have been telling you that TECH DAY IS COMING for a few months. Well, guess what that day is finally here: SATURDAY APRIL 16th. We will meet at my house at 10 am and start immediately. For those of you who have not been to my house, check with Carol. She can lead you from Shawnee Honda. Bring your oil change materials, light installations, parts etc and we will get it done. Also, I have another suggestion. If you have something hanging around your shop that you have removed from your bike and that YOU no longer need, BRING IT. Let s have a little treasure hunt. You can swap it, give it away or sell it. Like a little bike swap meet!!! Ladies/gents, like before, bring a side dish or a dessert to help finish out the meal. Let s have a great day and get things fixed on our bikes/trikes!!!! LET S RIDE Wow! There are so many cool places to visit in Oklahoma on a bike or trike. Spring is coming, the weather is warming and rides are in our future. Let s take a minute or two to visit some cool day and over night riding points in Oklahoma. Maybe you will want to say LET S RIDE and go to a few. These rides are listed as the top five western Oklahoma rides in travel OK. I will only go over a few: ROUTE 66 EAST FROM MIAMI TO ARCADIA TALIMENA NATIONAL SCENIC BYWAY OK-20 THROUGH CLAREMORE AND SPAVINAW OK-10 FROM TAHLEQUAH TO GREENLEAF STATE PARK OK-123 THROUGH BARNSDALL AND BARTLESVILLE. Let s take a look at OK-10 from Tahlequah to Greenleaf State Park. For those of you who are doing the State Park Challenge this may be a way to check off some of those parks. Located in Green Country, Highway 10 runs east to west for the first hundred miles, then north to south for the remainder. Begin your scenic tour north of Tahlequah and follow the serene banks of the Illinois River on a relaxing jaunt south on Highway 10. Follow the highway s path through breathtaking stone bluffs and lush forests and remember to keep your speedometer low, as Highway 10 is known for its curvy lanes and winding, low visibility turns. Pull your motorcycle over into one of the many river outfitters that directly line this gorgeous highway and float down the Illinois in a raft or canoe, or travel south to Tahlequah s Cherokee Heritage Center for a dose of American Indian Culture. Continue your scenic tour at the Fort Gibson Historic Site, located just north of the highway. This historic site, in operation from 1824 to 1890, was the Where the wings come back!!!! 17 Friends for Fun, Safety and

first army post in Indian Territory. Between the 80 acres, 29 historic buildings, numerous archeological ruins and exhibits, it s living a piece of American history. Continue the smooth ride south to Braggs, home of Camp Gruber Recreation Area and Greenleaf State Park. Or, visit Greenleaf State Park and wind your way through spectacular scenery complete with hiking trails, an 18-hole miniature golf course and abundant wildlife viewing.
