Cuboree Weekend Rules & Regulations CHECK IN TIME WILL START AT 5:00PM ON FRIDAY, ALL OUT BY 11AM ON SUNDAY 1. Camping areas will be assigned by the Cuboree Weekend staff at check-in. There s one fire pit per site, so the tables and fire pit WILL be shared with all of the packs in your site, and there WILL be a few. It s not first come, first served, it s all served with those things when they come. If you need more tables, ask. They are mobile. Don t be a pig about it. Scouting is made of good people, right? 2. Parking is restricted to DESIGNATED AREAS (Main parking field and auxiliary fields). I think we re pretty cool about letting you bring your car to the site on Friday and Sunday to unload. It s supposed to be an outdoor camping experience. NO CARS IN CAMP ON SATURDAY. Please. We want you to have a pleasant weekend and hate being the bad guys always talking about removing cars. Remember that workout plan you had as a New Year s resolution? We do. Carry something from here to there. It won t kill you. If it does, we have a medical officer on duty and a shovel. 3. Children must be accompanied by an adult when in the bathrooms. Please help us keep the bathrooms clean. We use the buddy system, but when you send 2 kids to the bathroom, that just means they have help redecorating. It should go without being said that that at the Lyon Shower house/bathrooms (the big bathroom by the campsites), that boys and men should use the boys side and girls and women, the women s side. So Moms, if you need to be in the bathroom with your young son, or Dads with the young daughter, please use the bathrooms in the Dining Hall, or down by the camp office, or on the road to the waterfront as they will give you, and everyone else the privacy needed. There, I said it. 4. DO NOT cut or disturb standing trees, bushes or shrubs. Erosion is a problem and your cooperation is required. Sitting trees are fair game. Disturb them all you want. Play them some of your kid s music. Some of the lyrics are quite disturbing. 5. All buildings are off limits, unless otherwise instructed by staff. In case of an apocalypse, take shelter wherever you d like. It s not in the forecast this weekend though. 6. Report all accidents, lost scouts, illnesses, damages and fires to the Cub-Family Weekend staff, even if you don t want the lost scouts back. You brought them, you have to bring them home. Report all on purposes to Mommy. 7. The use of firearms, fire legs, fireworks, archery equipment, and gas or air guns is strictly prohibited. No matter how cool that all would be. Firebuckets are entry level, so we encourage their use by all. 8. Swimming, wading, bathing or entering into the lake is prohibited this weekend. It s just too darn cold. 9. Fishing is permitted, except within 100 feet of the swimming area. A New York State Fishing License is required for anglers over 16 years old. 10. Dogs, cats, and other pets are not permitted in camp (except service dogs with papers). Little sisters don t qualify for this restriction. Sorry. I have 4 myself. Deal with it. 11. At least two adults must be in attendance at the campsite at all times during occupancy by any child. A scout never enters another s camping area unless invited, and never touches anyone else s camping equipment or personal gear. 12. Camp fires shall be extinguished before going to sleep. No fires are to be left burning when leaders are absent from camp. Only one camp fire will be permitted within a pack s campsite under adult supervision. Keep fires under control. Under control means small. It doesn t mean that hey I m a firefighter, so I know how to make a really big one and I ll
take responsibility. If you share your site with another pack, share the fire, share their company, just try not to mooch too much of their food. That s annoying. 13. Keep the camp clean at all times. Put all trash in plastic trash bags. Keep your own gear in order. As a BSA member, you own the camp too. If you see trash, pick it up. It s on your property. There are dumpsters behind the dining hall and in the lot by the camp office. Don t leave trash out by the road. Ain t no trash collectors on duty. 14. Class B uniforms (Scout related T shirts) may be worn during the day. Class A uniforms (Cub Scout/Boy Scout Official Uniform or Costume) are to be worn for the evening program including dinner, and religious services. The campfire is a black tie affair unless you just want to wear your T shirt. Just please wear a shirt. 15. Dining hall courtesy The Cub Scout sign is the signal for immediate silence and attention. Be alert to the staff s signals and instructions. If you don t join us in singing, I ve been known to point you out and keep singing until you do. Mu-haha 16. The use or possession of alcoholic beverages or other controlled substances is prohibited in a scout camp and, therefore, violators will be asked to leave. It s just 2 days. You can handle it. If you need emotional support or a number to call, see Pete. 17. Each Cuboree participant must have a Medical Information Form (Under 72 hour) on file with their unit leader. Surrogate parent statement to be signed if appropriate. Moms we know you have the info in your head. But what if you get hurt? Your husband has no clue when your birthday is, much less when your kid got a shot. That s why we need the forms for ALL, not just your scout. 18. Sheath knives are not allowed in camp!!! 19. No radios, TV s, stereos, tape players, Game Boys or other similar electronic equipment are allowed in camp. Anyway, get with the times. You should have an ipod by now. Geez. Leave that in your car too though. When I was a kid, I actually had to spend time with my parents and talk to them. It was brutal. I got through it. You will too. 20. SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED in or near the dining hall. If you smoke while you are in camp, please do not smoke in front of the children. Do not litter the grounds with your butts. Yeah, I said butt. Stop snickering, that s what it s called. Find a receptacle to toss them in. Pocket them if you must. If you do smoke in front of the children, you must be on fire. If so, Stop, Drop, and Roll. 21. Bicycles may be used by any of our campers. A helmet must be worn by all riders regardless of age. 22. The most important thing you wear is a smile. You must still wear other stuff, so please don t just wear your smile. We have rules against that. Just don t forget the smile. And the other stuff you were going to wear anyway before you remembered that you had to smile too. Ok? Good. This got awkward for a minute. 23. Unattended children will be given lots of sugar and a free puppy and returned to you. 24. We provide religious services on Saturday night. They re usually pretty good, they cater to the kids well and they are in an outdoor setting. Besides that, it s part of the program, and you paid for the program. Don t waste your money. We ask you to join us. Now, we re not going to force you, even though it would be setting a good example for your kids, so if you don t go, please don t hang out by the Dining Hall, because that s where a lot of us will be. Go to your sites and please keep the kids quiet. Just know that God is watching you, and he s not looking happy. 25. You always tell me you re busy. This weekend, you re stuck here and this is what you re busy doing. Get in the game, get wet in the lake, sing loud and do something fun with your kids. You re on vacation, so have fun with the kids! If you don t look like you re having lots of fun and participating, I m going to give you a job to do. That ll give you something to cry about.

2017 Cuboree New Dining Hall Information ABOUT DINING HALL: We are serving meals a new way we re calling Rolling Meal times, meaning 1. The Dining hall will be open for a little over an hour for any given meal. Come up whenever you want in that time frame. Come into the kitchen, take your tray and you will be served. I ll give you a hint though, the big rush is always at opening. Everyone around you thinks if they get there first, they can swoop in quick. Sometimes showing up casually late pays. 2. Serving meals this way provides us the opportunity to have less crowds and more selections available on the menu. 3. Please use the meals as a learning opportunity for your family and pack. Graces are posted in the dining hall, but you are free to say your own. 4. There is open seating, meaning nothing is assigned. Eat inside or out as your heart desires. If you see open seats at a table, ask to join them for the meal and make new friends! 5. We ve been known to burst into spontaneous song in the dining hall. When this happens, stand up and have fun. Smile whether you like it or not. It s more important that you sing loud than it is for you to get the words right. 6. When you finish your meal, please throw all trash in the garbage cans and bring your trays, silverware and cups up to the metal doors (our washing station). Helping us keep your tables clean is appreciated, please wipe down your area after you eat. We will have wipe down rags available. 7. SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED in or near the dining hall. If you smoke while you are in camp, please do not smoke in front of the children. Do not litter the grounds with your butts. Find a receptacle to toss them in. Pocket them if you must.
