COMMODORE REPORT I hope everybody made it through this last Arctic Vortex that hit us, and now we can look forward to next week s rollercoaster ride back up into relative warmth. The winds were so high this past week that our Club Manager, Jason, said he felt the building swaying! While the club was closed for the first two weeks of January several things were done to improve the club area. As you can see from the picture above, we ve started putting up sails for decoration and sound abatement. On the far wall you can see the new Perpetual Plaques to commemorate our Past Commodores and over behind the bar a new chalkboard for food specials was installed (Thanks First Mates!). And speaking of the bar, it underwent a resurfacing and it looks super! Thanks to Larry Comer and staff for putting up the sails and doing the bar makeover. So it s nice and cozy in the clubhouse and it s really taking shape! Come on down and see what s new and enjoy some great food and drinks with fellow club members. We continue to work with the County and MDE to resolve the status of our tiki bar and the platform that it was on, and resolution is close. We should have it all taken care of for sure by Opening Day. Along with that we will have our new flagstaff in place. Piece by piece, we re getting our club property reconstructed better than before. Speaking of piece by piece, until we receive our associate member dues and the revenues from dock fees, both of which come in April, money to enhance the clubhouse and surrounding areas right now is essentially nonexistent. We have been getting some great ideas of how to dress up the clubhouse etc., but I ask for your patience until later this spring when we will be in a much better place financially.

We have some great activities scheduled for the coming weeks as detailed later in the News. Our restaurant management and staff really are really working hard to keep the clubhouse/restaurant a welcoming venue with excellent food and drink. I hope to see you there soon! Tom Jones, Commodore 410-726-4196 twjones@salisbury.edu *Please view our Activities schedule you will find there is plenty of events here at the club. You can view this, as well as this Creek News for reference, on our web site www.wicomicoyachtclub.com REAR COMMODORE REPORT With 2019 well under way and the hopes that the groundhog does not see his shadow, we are wrapping up the final touches on the new menu here at the club. Thanks to your completed surveys and recommendations, we have adjusted the items to better suit the interest of our members. A special thank you to the house committee, along with Tom, Dean and Jason. Your support and contributions have been well thought out and important through this process. We are looking forward to our super bowl party on Sunday February the 3rd. I will be there steaming up oysters, while Gregg Bailey will be assisting Jason in preparation of oysters on a half shell- raw and baked. There will also be other fantastic food and drink specials while we enjoy the final football game in the 2018/2019 season. So, gear up in your favorite NFL team apparel and join us at the club. See you there. Rear Commodore Brooks Bailey brooksbailey37@gmail.com 443-614-7836

FLEET CAPTAIN REPORT We don t have all of our cruises set, but make sure to put these on your calendars: URGENT for St. Michael s this year- Reminder to all of our members, if you are interested in going on the Father's Day cruise to St. Michael's June 14th-16 th there is still room but I would call to book soon as they are known for filling up early. 443-746-3309 talk with Anne. 2019 Cruises Rumble Day trip to the Hideaway May 27 th 2019 St. Michaels Father s Day weekend June 14 th -16 th 2019 We would like to arrange a full Club Cruise to Solomon s Yacht club. Dates Have not been set yet. Onancock in August date is pending it will probably be the last weekend Crisfield Labor Day weekend WYC Christmas Boat Parade (without rain hopefully) November 30 th 2019 Other Items I d like to do another boater s safety class. I think this time we might do the class in one day on a Saturday 8 3. If anyone is interested let me know. I ll work on setting a date. We have some yacht clubs looking to visit us this summer. We will try and keep the membership posted when they will be coming so we can show them the WYC hospitality. Thanks, Ryan McClenahan Ryan@Landmarkinsuranceinc.com 410-726-3876

FIRST MATES REPORT Saturday, February 9, is our Nautical Auction at WYC. A table has been set up in the Club to display some of the items that have been donated. We look forward to continued donations, so come on down and check out what we have. The sooner the donations arrive the easier it is for the First Mates to organize the Auction. The Auction begins at 8 PM sharp with the addition of a Yard Sale which opens at 6:00. All items in the Yard Sale are first come first serve, unlike the Chinese Auction in the past. The Yard Sale will be open most of the evening and can be paid with cash or can be added to your Auction tab. Auction tabs can be paid with credit card, check or cash. We will be looking for volunteers the day of for set-up and through the evening. If you are interested, please contact me. WYC recommends reservations for dinner, as of this past Saturday there were over 50 reservations. If you are interested in helping this Sunday during Superbowl, I will be in the trailer organizing for a couple of hours and could use some help. If you have not been to the Club recently then you will have missed the new addition of the Perpetual Plaques hung in the hallway behind the restaurant to commemorate our Past Commodores and the new blackboard behind the bar. Wearables are still 50% off, stop in and stock up for summer; help us make room for new wearables. We are always looking new ideas; if you have any requests or ideas please feel free to email or text them to the First Mates. First Mates Dues is due January 1 and is $10 for the year. You can pay any officer, cash or check. And remember we are always looking for volunteers and new ideas. Last Sunday was our second Turkey Shoot and as always was a great success. We have decided to continue at the Monie Gun Club for this year. It has been our experience that it benefits our Club and theirs and has been a win-win all around. The next Turkey Shoot is Sunday, February 24 th at 1 PM at the Monie Gun Club. We would love to see more WYC members join us. So, come on down and see what all the fun is about. Bring your friends and family. Beer is practically free, food is a nominal charge. Rain or shine. Our next meeting is Monday, February 11, in the trailer @ 7 PM. If you have any questions or need information my information is listed below. Vicky Comer President, First Mates 410-251-5397 Comer6@aol.com The purpose of The First Mates is to support and promote the Wicomico Yacht Club by: Raising funds to assist in club activities and club maintenance when needed and; Planning activities to encourage good relations within our membership

Larry Comer Dock Master 410-251-5138 comerconstructionco@gmail.com POOL NEWS I have just two and a half months of vacation left but who's counting. We are going over the pool rules and will be sending them out to all members by April. To address the pool gate, the State Health Dept. regulates the type of fencing and gates at all public pools for the safety of the children. I know the gate is a pain for the parents and wait staff but the children's safety comes first. We are asking everyone to be considerate of the size of the flotation device they bring to the pool, especially on weekends and holidays. John the pool guy John Kencec Pool Committee Chairman
