NANP News Summer 2010 2010 Convention in San Diego Sept. 21 to 23 2010 ASSOCIATION OF NAVAL PHOTOGRAPHY CONVENTION! Make your plans now for the 2010 NANP Convention in San Diego! The convention will be held Sept 21-23, 2010 at the Holiday Inn on the Bay in beautiful downtown San Diego. Property Location and Reservation Information: Holiday Inn on the Bay: The hotel is located about 150 feet from the Star of India and a short walk to the USS Midway with free local shuttles to Sea Port Village, Horton Plaza and Old Town. The hotel is only10 minutes from the airport, offers some onsite RV parking and also accepts pets! Additional RV parking is available at several locations with-in five miles. There s a Ruth s Chris steakhouse onsite plus a full bar/restaurant in the hotel. Anthony s is across the street if you prefer sea food and Little Italy is around the corner. We got great room rates considering the hotels location at $99.00 for city view and $129.00 for bay view rooms. The hospitality suite is next to the pool and the banquette room is just the right size with a great view of the harbor. Hotel Reservations: Room rates are guaranteed from Sep 19 th thru the 25 th for those coming early and staying late so make your reservation now. We could only block a limited number of rooms at these prices so make your reservation early. To compare rates, other hotels in the area start at $250.00 a night so you can see the value of early reservations! Call the hotel reservations office at 800-877-8920 and ask for the National Association of Naval Photography rate code ANP. You ll be making your hotel reservations directly with the hotel and be sure to tell them you re with the National Association of Naval Photography to get the proper room rates. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: Come on it s San Diego! For those outside the San Diego area that aren t aware the Zoo has undergone a major upgrade and it s worth a second look. It s like a new facility with great restaurants and new exhibits. Other attractions include Little Italy, Sea World, Horton Plaza, and The Gas Lamp Quarter. NANP Pacific Northwest Chapter News The Pacific Northwest Chapter had the first training day for this year for active duty MC s on March 17, 2010 at Glazers Camera s training room. Rose Whitaker the Pacific Northwest NIKON representative was again our trainer. Flash photography, exposure calculations, Syncro-Sun Flash and NIKON accessories for flash and GPS was demonstrated.
