WEBSITE CONTENT This Construction Management Plan has been prepared by Northwestern University and outlines the construction procedures that will be used during the restoration project at 633 Clark Street in Evanston, Illinois. Project Description Originally constructed in 1968, the Rebecca Crown Center Plaza has long served as one of the University s main hubs, where faculty, staff, students and the broader campus community cross paths. The plaza has deteriorated over time, and requires much needed repair and maintenance to address structural deficiencies. Northwestern University plans to begin work on the Rebecca Crown Center Plaza on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. The project will include but not be limited to: Removal and replacement of the existing plaza surface and waterproof membrane Improved accessibility and pedestrian circulation Installation of a snow-melt system in primary circulation paths Replacement of existing handrails Construction Work Hours Work hours for this project will be per the City of Evanston requirements: Monday Friday: Saturday: 7 a.m. 7 p.m. 8 a.m. 5 p.m. Construction will not occur on Sundays. Project Schedule The project is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 and is projected to be completed in November 2016. Construction will occur in multiple phases to allow for continual use of plaza. Site Access Northwestern has reviewed the various streets entering and exiting Evanston and have developed a site access plan that is in strict accordance with the City of Evanston Truck Routes as published on the City of Evanston website as well as attached to this plan as Exhibit A. Construction Staging The north side of Rebecca Crown Center will be utilized for construction staging. A temporary construction fence will be installed for the duration of the project and a ramp installed adjacent to the north stairs to allow for the easy transport of construction materials to and from the plaza level. Rotating fencing and barriers will be installed in and around the plaza on Northwestern University property. City sidewalks will not be impacted as a result of this project. Contractor Parking There will be no onsite parking for contractors with the exception of the project superintendent and for contractor loading and unloading of tools or equipment only. Contractors and construction personnel will be required to park in one of the designated Northwestern University Contractor Parking lots. These lots are located on the east side of Ryan Field and at the southeast corner of Foster Street and Maple Avenue (See Exhibit B). Parking restrictions will be incorporated into all subcontract agreements and communicated weekly to all on site personnel.
WEBSITE CONTENT Noise & Dust Mitigation Facilities Management is committed to minimizing disruption, and it is our goal to mitigate noise and dust through the duration of the project whenever possible. The following practices will be utilized to mitigate noise: The demolition will be completed via wet saw cutting in lieu of jack hammering. All surfaces will be power washed following the completion of on construction and, as needed, throughout the duration of the project. Work Site Communication The project team will update the property owners or management companies for all of the adjoining buildings along Clark Street between Sherman Avenue and Chicago Avenue. Residents nearby the site will receive a monthly newsletter delivered by US Mail, email and/or other means supported by tenants, property owners and their respective management companies.
