DECEMBER 2015 Anchorage Chapter Newsletter BY MICHELE LOGAN December is upon us, and so, the beginning of the holiday season which is a special time for gathering with family and friends for various activities not the least of which is eating! Coincidentally, there are a couple of opportunities this holiday month to gather with others in our local law enforcement family. FOAST, the Fraternal Order of Alaska State Troopers, will be hosting their Annual Christmas Party Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 5:00 PM at the FOAST Trooper Museum located at 245 W. 5 th Ave., Ste 113. It is a free event with plenty of hors d oeuvres and lots of hospitality. Stop in as you are after work, or for some, after a long day of retirement activities And of course, our own Anchorage Chapter Christmas Holiday Party will be Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel and Spa. Tickets are currently on sale and may be purchased at: http://www.cvent.com/d/5fq7h0h. All the details concerning the party are located on the website, as well as a link where you will be able to book a room at the Sheraton for the night of the event for $89 plus tax. If you purchase your party tickets by Monday, November 30, you will be entered in a drawing to be held at our December 1 luncheon in which your can win a free night s stay (that can be used the night of the event or anytime) at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel and Spa. Individual ticket prices remain unchanged from last year at $60 each, which covers a superb buffet menu of prime rib, halibut Olympia and some kind of exquisite chicken, a night of socializing and/or dancing, and lots of fabulous door prizes, including guns and travel. The APOA Anchorage Chapter is proud to sponsor the premier holiday party for law enforcement in the State of Alaska each year. Our next chapter luncheon is Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 11:30 at the Golden Corral. Our speaker will be Special Agent Patrick Matthew with IRS Criminal

Auxiliary Search Team s Primary Mission is to assist the Anchorage Police Department (APD) in locating and rendering aid to persons reported lost or missing within the APD service district. Other areas of support include evidence searches, natural or man-made disasters, and public or special events. The APDST is also a part of Project Lifesaver. Project Lifesaver forms partnerships with local law enforcement and public safety organizations and deploys specially trained teams with the most reliable technology available to quickly locate and return wandering adults and children to their families and caregivers. It is an active response to the problem of locating wandering patients before they fall victim to the elements, accidents, or predators. The APDST relies on funds raised through this special event for badly needed funds for equipment, supplies and other needs for the coming year. You can help by purchasing advertising in the souvenir program that includes complimentary event tickets, purchasing tickets to attend or by sponsoring tickets for disadvantaged youth and families to attend on your behalf. The souvenir programs will be distributed at the event and the Celebrities will be available to autograph them following the game. S.E.G. (Sports & Entertainment Group), a paid solicitor, has been retained to conduct this year s fundraising event on behalf of the Anchorage Police Dept. Auxiliary Search Team (Special Event Office located at 715 E. 15 th Ave., Anchorage, AK 99501). A portion of the funds raised will be disbursed to pay S.E.G. office and staff.
