Your first look at Lake Bryn Mawr Camp Why is Explorers Weekend Important? Choosing a camp for your child is no easy task. Any camp director will tell you that an in-person visit is a vital part of the camp selection process. We believe there s no better way for your daughter to find out what camp is really like than to spend a weekend living like an actual Bryn Mawr Angel! Explorers Weekend is your daughter s opportunity to get a firsthand look at what Bryn Mawr is all about. Girls, ages 7 to 9, sleep in a cabin, cheer in the dining hall, tumble across the gym, splash in the pools, and see for themselves what life is like at Bryn Mawr.
What Do Explorers Do? As an Explorer, your daughter will spend two days and two nights living like a real LBMC camper, making new friends and sampling new skills as she gets her first taste of sleepaway camp. During the day, Explorers experience a broad range of activities available to Bryn Mawr campers. Your Explorer will play group games with our Adventure Challenge staff, swim in our heated pools, create a unique project in arts and crafts, run through drills on the tennis courts and play soccer, softball or newcombe on one of our many playing fields. We design a special program that gives our Explorers a taste of all the new experiences she ll have as a full-season Bryn Mawr camper. Each activity is structured to help Explorers get a feel for camp and have fun in a safe, nurturing and friendly setting.
Who Will Take Care of Her? We are pleased to have a skilled and caring Explorers leadership team, all of whom are LBMC parents, and several of whom are former Angels themselves! Our Explorers Weekend coordinators are experts at helping Explorers adjust to camp life and make the most of their weekend at camp. Assisting our leadership team are a number of our key staff, including experienced counselors and program directors. Our Leaders-In-Training and Bunk One campers, the oldest girls in camp, will be on hand to provide leadership, enthusiastic guidance and plenty of TLC. Who Will She Meet? As an Explorer, your daughter will have the opportunity to get to know some of the girls who will be her friends and bunkmates in summers to come. She ll also spend time with key staff members, campers her own age, and our Bunk One campers, who look forward all summer to helping out with Explorers Weekend.
What Happens At Night? At camp, the fun doesn t stop when the sun goes down. Just like our full-season campers, Explorers will be treated to traditional camp evening activities, including one of our spirited weekly talent shows and a real campfire (complete with s mores!). At bedtime, Explorers retire to their own bunks in our West Lodge, where they settle in for the night under the supervision of our experienced and caring Explorers staff. Your daughter will bunk with other Explorers her own age. Explorers accommodations, like all our cabins, have their own attached bathroom and shower facilities. What Will She Eat? We serve three healthy meals and two delicious snacks every day, and we can guarantee that even the pickiest eater will enjoy mealtime at Bryn Mawr! Our chefs serve fresh fruits and vegetables at every meal, and we will do our best to meet your daughter s special dietary needs.
