Hello to my Fellow T-Birders, WOW! is all I can say about that last meeting. Was that or was that not fabulous? A mystery tour it sure was and a pleasant surprise from the get go. Who would of thought we would wind up with those great planes and then be greeted by The Fallen Soldier car. Doug and Leellen went to a lot of trouble to put this one on. Good Job Guys. Old Ford Dealerships Not much in the way of news. An update from Chuck Korenko stating that he will not be running for another term as Director for Region 3, leaving that office open for consideration for all. I hope maybe to see a few names up for consideration. Think about it. Anyway, Car shows are still going and Relay For Life in Rohnert Park raised over $68,000 dollars. Way to go. What Little Bird won another award in Fort Bragg? It was Leellen's 56" She was awarded Lost In The Fifties. Good Job. B.R. Cohn winery was in full swing on July 3rd and a fun time was had by Dennis, Dee Dee, Jim and myself. Met a fellow doing some photo shooting and spoke with him about possibly joining us on one of our cruises and who knows, we may wind up on You Tube. Well, That is about all from this end, we look forward to hearing from Joan and Herman about our next meeting. Take Care and keep on Rolling. Pat Arieta, President BIRTHDAYS IN AUGUST Dee Dee Byrne - 2nd Louise Johnson - 2nd Catherine Grace - 4th Harry Costa - 6th Ann Costa - 8th Bill Goff - 18th ANNIVERSARIES IN AUGUST Harry and Ann Costa - 5th THUNDERBIRDS OF SONOMA WEBSITE www.thunderbirdsofsonoma.org

The cool drinks they provided were very refreshing in the heat of the day. Hello Everyone, Despite the challenges that the construction at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts posed, members showed up on a beautiful and hot Saturday, July 2, 2011, to celebrate American Independence with the Red, White and Blue Mystery Cruise hosted by Leellen and Doug Trayler. Leellen in her beautiful 56 Thunderbird led us over to Esposti Park in Windsor where Doug was waiting with coffee, juices, and pastries. After some food and visiting, Leellen again took the lead and drove us on the mystery tour through beautiful downtown Windsor before arriving at the Pacific Coast Air Museum at the Santa Rosa Airport. Several Classic Thunderbirds (accompanied by a host of other cars) were present together with members Catherine Grace, Sarah Kenney, Jutta Einstoss, Harry and Ann Costa, Dee Dee and Dennis Byrne, Gil and Laura Baumgartner, Wes Crandall and Louise Johnson, Tim and Dianne Roden, Pat and Jim Arieta, Keith Zimmerman and Jamie Thigpen (with guest John Byrd from Arizona), and hosts Leellen and Doug Trayler with their guests Marnie and Gary Saxe. Following a very interesting tour of the vintage aircraft at the museum, we adjourned to the picnic area (fortunately shaded from the bright sun) which was beautifully decorated by Leellen and Doug. Leellen had gone all out to provide individually wrapped place settings including flatware, wine glasses, napkins, and plates all festively decorated for the 4th of July. Pat Arieta conducted a short meeting (at least President Pat said it was going to be short.) thanking Leellen and Doug for hosting and welcoming members and guests. Pat noted that the Christmas party will be at 1PM instead of 2PM. She read a thank you note for the club s contribution to the Relay for Life. Additionally she congratulated Leellen and Doug Trayler and Dee Dee and Dennis Byrne for winning awards at Peggy Sue s Cruise. Leellen introduced Rich Williams and his son Dominic. Rich is married to Peggy Sue, and Rich has been active in helping to restore the Fallen Soldier s Car (a 71 Nova) to be sold to help fund a college trust fund for the young daughter of fallen soldier Ryan Connolly. President Pat Arieta suggested that the club make a contribution to the restoration of the car, and upon a motion duly made and seconded, the club voted to contribute $100 to the restoration. She also mentioned that details for the August meeting would be forthcoming. The lunch was more than a picnic. It was a gourmet meal with Leellen s homemade potato salad (I would like the recipe), macaroni salad, Caesar salad, beans, and delicious fried chicken. Also chips, watermelon, cupcakes, beer, soda, wine. You name it, and it was there! Leellen proceeded to award prizes for various events, and the prizes were model cars together with bags of candy beautifully wrapped. She also thanked Marnie and Gary Saxe for all of their help in putting the meeting and the lunch together. In Jan Kibler s absence, Tim Roden gave the Treasurer s Report. We again thanked Leellen and Doug for generously hosting a lavish lunch and meeting that was missing nothing! Pat adjourned the meeting to the raffle. To a much-disappointed Lucky Louise, we discovered that nobody had brought raffle tickets. Continued Next Page

But since there were prizes there, each table received a prize, and the winners were Catherine Grace, Laura Baumgartner, Dianne Roden, Jim Arieta, and Rich Williams. Respectfully submitted by: Keith Zimmerman, Secretary 2011 Club Event Schedule Month Host August 6th Herman and Joan September 3rd Catherine Grace October Harry and Ann Costa November 5th Jamie and Keith December 10th Pat and Jim 1:00pm at Giorgio s in Healdsburg. July Photos starting at Esposti Park From the Wells Fargo Center we caravanned to Esposti Park where Doug was waiting for us. Doug and Leellen provided us with a choice of coffee or juice and pastries and hats. Yum From Esposti Park the Mystery Cruise continued to Windsor and through the Town Green. From there we caravanned to the Sonoma County Airport. A surprise was in store for us.

July Photos at PCAM We arrived at the Pacific Coast Air Museum and waited to be escorted to the field. Surprised and shocked? Yes, this is a real treat. Now that the cars are parked we can view the aircraft on display. The cars looked great parked with these historic aircraft. Check out this panoramic photo provided by Gary Saxe. Our cars are surrounded by retired military aircraft. There are several jets on hand that contained some historic value too. On hand was the first military jet to respond to the World Trade Center tragedy on 9/11. Also on hand were two jets used in the filming of the movie Top Gun with Tom Cruise. Another panoramic photo shows where the caravan ended with Leellen as the lead car. This angle shows an impressive display of Military Aircraft, Thunderbirds, a Mustang and a Camaro. We were greeted with some warm weather and when the afternoon breeze joined us it was very welcome. That breeze kept our flags on our antennas waving. Thank you Leellen and Doug for providing us with the flags and hats to celebrate the Fourth of July.

July Photos Continued at PCAM The next Air Show at the Sonoma County Airport is August 20 & 21, 2011.

July Photos Continued As you can see from the pictures shown here we had a very nice private area to have a great lunch that Doug and Leellen prepared for us. We appreciate all of the hard work that Doug and Leellen put in to hosting this meeting. We also appreciated the shade and the nice breeze as it was a warm day. 2011 NON-CLUB EVENTS Hot August Nights in Reno August 8, 2011 Nostalgia Days in Novato August 15, 2011 9th Annual Main Street Reunion Napa, CA.
