The motion was brought up, seconded, and passed with little discussion. We left the choice of category up to the host chapter. Last year we announced that in order to stimulate building by members and more show and tell models, a reward of a $25 gift certificate to Hobby Emporium would be given out to the member who brought in the most newly completed models for show and tell in 2015. I went through all of the year s newsletters and the lucky recipient was John Walker with a total of 14 completed models. Close behind was Paul Lessard with 11. John took his reward with a smile, and immediately gave it to a junior member to use! Talk about supporting our junior modelers! We next discussed our theme for Granitecon. We had four ideas to vote on. The first was the 1960 s anything made in the 1960 s. The second was cross dressers anything built by one country but used by another. The third was concepts and experimental, including prototypes. The fourth was past and present where a model had to be built exactly like a photograph of the original subject. After a round of voting, we decided on the 1960 s as our theme this year. Members were reminded that the Railroad show at the Big E in Springfield, MA was being held January 30-31 st this year. The show has four buildings of railroad stuff on display. Paul, Guy, and Pete talked it up, saying there was something there for everyone. I m sure we will have a couple of reports on this show at this month s meeting. Moving on to the next railroad show after that, Hooksett on April 24 th, we asked for volunteers to put on a make and take there. It appears we have enough volunteers to help and bring models for display, so we will be there from 10 AM to 3 PM. We will finalize our plans at the March meeting. We had eleven members bring in models for our pass the stash building project. Models were numbered and passed out, with finished projects due at our August meeting. You can build your kit any way you wish, and a $25 gift certificate will be awarded for the most popular entry. This is a long way in the future, but we have been contacted about getting together with a couple of other clubs to possibly host a Noreastcon event a few years down the road. This possibility was mentioned to the executive board a year and a half ago, and has not gone any farther than a couple of preliminary informal discussions with the club that has a facility in mind. No panicking yet! It has been mentioned that both Downeastcon and Valleycon are on the same date this year. This doesn t usually happen. Members will have to choose which show to attend this year. See you Monday night.
